CNN) - It looks like something out of "Alien," but has more in common with "Jurassic Park." It's a rare frilled shark that has been caught by a fisherman in Australia, where no one remembers ever seeing one caught before. With a mouth packed full of needle-like teeth and a body like an eel, the six-foot long frilled shark is sometimes described as a fish "fossil" that dates back 80 million years.

Las Vegas, Nevada - One thing you you’re sure to find at every SHOT Show is something new. A new trigger, new barrel, or new gun to set the shooting world on fire. Or, in the case of the National Rifle Association, a new bike. Designed by the world class production crew over at Orange County Choppers, the NRA debuted an OCC-styled Pro Street bike with bullet-like appearance adorned in a matte gunmetal and black paint job on SHOT Show 2015’s opening day . Donated by Century Arms, the bike is adorned with the NRA seal, Century Arms emblem, and...

His careless gun handling resulted in unemployment, medical bills, and a lawsuit against someone else. A police officer walks into a gun shop, asks to see a 380 pistol, shoots off a portion of his anatomy with said pistol, becomes former cop, and then sues gun shop.Yeah, that’s right. The former officer is reportedly suing for negligence on the part of Barren Outdoors, the gun shop where the incident occurred. We all know that guns in display cases should be unloaded and safe. We also know that the gun shop employee should have checked the gun to be sure of that before...

Pink Floyd academic, composer, and pianist Gilad Cohen's studies of the band, along with performances of Cohen's compositions, will be featured in events held in Illinois, at the University of Chicago, and Northwestern University, in early February. Cohen [right] will be giving two lectures, titled "Large-Scale Structure in the music of Pink Floyd: 'Dogs' and 'Shine On'" and "Large-Scale Structure in the music of Pink Floyd: 'Dogs'". They will each offer insight on a variety of subjects related to these songs as well as two unique opportunities for discussion. Northwestern University's lecture will consist of an expansive analysis of 'Dogs'...

I have a Grizzly 10 inch saw, which is not bad as saws go. My problem is the, swear word, tape measure locator on the cross fence support. There is no repeatability swear Word. If you change blades you must make a mental note of the difference in width between blade you replaced and the blade you are using. Now because I of an advanced age you have mind farts or lose where you wrote it down so I started to look around for an alternative. Back when I was young and CNC machining came out I was working for...

After years of being a sucker and buying magazines off of the tables at gun shows, I'm done. I'm looking at my mags and I have about a dozen gun show mags and only maybe two or three are reliable and quiet. Most jam or don't activate the slide stop when empty or just plain rattle when loaded. I've spent an average of $15 each. For the same $ I could have bought 6 factory mags and have 6 good mags instead of 2 or 3. As an experiment I loaded a factory 7rd Ruger .45 mag with 7 rds...

Hi; I just joined the Kitty-Ping list. I have what is kind of an urgent question about CATS, and our FRiend 'Slings and Arrows' suggested that I post it to the larger group. We adopted a little cat, Leroy, a week ago; he’s about 8 months old and still very kittenish. He's adapted to us and our household very well; but we think he needs a cat companion. We have the choice of adopting one of his brothers, from the same litter; or adopting a female cat who is about 1-1/2 years old, who has already had a litter. I...

By John Wines' calculation, the scratch-off ticket he bought at a Roswell, N.M., gas station is worth $500,625. The state lottery says it is worthless. Wines, a retired heating and air conditioning repairman, bought the $20 "Ruby 7s" ticket on Dec. 6, and went to his car to scratch it off. When his effort appeared to reveal four prizes - two of $250,000, one for $75 and another for $50, he excitedly ran back in to present it to the cashier. "She scanned it in the machine and told me it isn't a winner," Wines, 65, told FoxNews.com. "I couldn't...

In September, Panasonic made waves at Photokina by using a camera show to announce a smartphone. But the Lumix CM1 isn’t just any smartphone: it has a 1-inch sensor, the kind you’d find in high-end point-and-shoot cameras, plus an f/2.8 Leica lens that you’d be lucky to find on a high-end point-and-shoot. Along with a 20-megapixel sensor, this phone is designed to basically reinvent the wheel when it comes to smartphone cameras.

So I've thought about ham radio as a hobby in the past. I read an article on the Government having an internet 'kill switch' but really I extrapolated that out further and think they have a 'communications kill switch'. Meaning internet and phone. In the event that national, regional, coordination and communications goes out, and a distinctive impact on neighborhood coordination, but not so much communications (sneaker net, or short haul CB's): What types of digital ham radio services and equipment are available to build a manned digital station -- meaning it accepts TCP/IP protocol even if it needed a...

This behind-the-scenes look at the Royal Mint shows workers producing three new coins for 2015 to commemorate British anniversaries. A 50 pence piece - set to enter circulation around March - will mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1940. The new coin created by sculptor Gary Breeze depicts three fighter pilots scrambling for their Spitfires under a sky crowded with bombers. A new £2 coin will mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta and a second £2 coin will celebrate the Navy’s role in the First World War. Coinage artist John Berhdahl created the special...

Anybody else have a drone? I'm asking because I decided to get myself a cheapo Christmas present, and got a Hubsan. The small one. It's quite a challenge to fly... so far, I think I've taken off and landed a total of twice. All the other events have been crashes. The first time I tried it, I hooked it up on my coffee table, powered up the controller, and pushed the RPM's up. It VERY promptly took off, crashed into my roof but keep going, and landed at the top of a bookcase about 15 feet away... Wow! Since that...
