“The good thing about Newtown is, it was so horrific that I think it galvanized Americans to a point where the intensity on our side is going to match the intensity on their side,” said the former mayor, referring to the current debate between gun control advocates and supporters of the Second Amendment.

Donald Trump will deliver a speech to thousands of NRA members at an annual meeting in Kentucky this week. But he wasn't always so pro-gun. Rather than impose gun control on law-abiding citizens, he wants to imprison gun-toting violent criminals for longer periods of time. Rather than expand background checks, he wants to fix the current system, which he says is "broken."

The fight over Second Amendment rights in the nation’s capital has entered a new phase. A federal judge has ruled that the city’s concealed carry law is likely unconstitutional, citing the “good reason provision” in the injunction order on Tuesday (via WaPo ): For the second time in as many years, a federal judge in Washington ordered the city to halt enforcement of its new, concealed-carry law, requiring applicants to state “good reason” to carry a weapon in order to obtain a permit from police. The preliminary injunction was contained in a 46-page ruling Tuesday by U.S. District Judge...

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that yes, there is a right to sell guns under the Second Amendment. The case involved the three owners of a proposed gun store in Alameda, CA, who were denied a zoning permit for their establishment. (The anti-gun fools are trying to use the building permit process in Arlington, VA, as well.)“If ‘the right of the people to keep and bear arms’ is to have any force, the people must have a right to acquire the very firearms they are entitled to keep and to bear,” wrote Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain for the...

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) moved quickly to announce some sort of gun control proposal after it was reported that the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence was more than disappointed with the liberal senator’s lack of gusto on the issue of gun control (via the Hill): "He made a promise to a room full of advocates, leaders, and gun violence victims last fall in New York to bring an expanded background check bill to the floor this year,” said Brady spokesman Brendan Kelly. "With the first quarter down, he hasn't done it.” Brady is one of the largest gun control...

Obama Seconds Holmes: Our rights don’t just end somewhere by Daniel Clark A guest on The Steve Allen Show once said, "I don't believe in vitamins," to which Allen replied, "But I've seen them." This is basically what President Obama means when he declares, "I believe in the Second Amendment." What he's really saying is that he is aware of its existence, not that he agrees with it, or believes in the reasons it was written and ratified. Many conservatives are relieved that Obama's recent executive orders on gun control were relatively unambitious. While announcing them, however, he revealed just...

It’s a tradition as old as yellow journalism, “Bash the Second Amendment” week, and it was off to a vigorous start with last night’s debut of “Under the Gun,” touted as a “documentary” hosted by Katie Couric and broadcast on Epix. The press seems to relish in doing gun control stories in the week leading up to the annual convention of the National Rifle Association. The NRA gathers this coming weekend in Louisville, and in addition to the Couric program, there’s an anti-gun opinion piece in today’s Seattle Times from Jerry Large, and another column in today’s Daily Californian that...

Did you see my email below? The Massachusetts Legislature is debating multiple bills to bring the state into compliance with the “Real ID Act of 2005”. . . But it should be called “Dangerous ID.”; Dangerous ID establishes a federal database of all American citizens and forces them to carry a government-approved ID containing “biometric features.”; Gun ownership, health records, purchasing habits, religious beliefs – virtually anything you could dream up could all be added to this massive, Dangerous ID database. It violates the privacy of every Massachusetts citizen, putting your identity and liberty at extreme risk. House Republicans added...

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas urged college graduates who seek to "preserve liberty" to do so by fulfilling the duties of their daily vocations rather than attempting to achieve sweeping political goals. "At the risk of understating what is necessary to preserve liberty in our form of government, I think more and more that it depends on good citizens, discharging their daily duties in their daily obligations," Thomas said Saturday during a commencement address at Hillsdale College, a small liberal arts college in Michigan.

President Obama has pushed the "prepper movement" into high gear, sending millions to buy guns, survival gear and food to live through a "civil war," according to a nationally known survivalist who calls on Americans to prepare in a new book. Bryce M. Towsley, whose "Prepper Guns" details the best weapons and ammo to survive a political or natural disaster, wrote, "I have watched in horror as Obama has attacked America with the brilliance that has allowed him to succeed." The National Rifle Association field editor and a well-known survivalist said he is calling on Americans to be ready for...

All Things Considered is an iconic program from National Public Radio (NPR). They have a reliably "progressive" approach to the world, but sometimes they stumble onto inconvenient truths. That is what seems to have happened a month ago when NPR ran this story on how a naive investor pushed Colt to develop a so called "smart" gun, which is actually a "stupid" gun. First, the push for the "stupid" gun came from the new owner of the company, Donald Zilkha. He was a banker from New York City. He did not own a gun. I suspect, he knew nothing...

During a May 13 appearance on NBC’s Today, Katie Couric previewed her upcoming gun control documentary by claiming a “silent majority” of gun owners want more gun control. Couric said these things during an interview conducted by Matt Lauer, who began the interview by countering FBI statistics and claiming mass shootings are on the rise. In September 2014, the FBI released a highly politicized study claiming a rise in mass shootings, only to have the authors of the study recant months later and admit they created data to make the study outcome fit a preconceived conclusion. (snip) So Couric undertook...

Washington, DC – -(Ammoland.com)- On May 7 2016, at a campaign rally in Lynden, Wash., likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said; “Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the Second Amendment. She wants to abolish it. Hillary Clinton wants to take your guns away. She wants to abolish the Second Amendment.”Trump is correct. However, in the days since this statement, the Annenberg Foundation’s FactCheck.org and PolitiFact have bent over backwards to defend Clinton from this legitimate description of her positions. These outlets’ attempts to contort Clinton’s record to suit their agenda is so shameless one hopes the efforts prompt Columbia University...

On May 12, The Washington Post’s editorial board contended that the shooting spree carried out by federal police officer Eulalio Tordil on May 5 and 6 highlights the need for a national gun registry. Ironically, the WaPo points to Maryland as one of the few states that already has a registry in place. Yet Tordil allegedly carried out his heinous attacks in Maryland. He is alleged to have shot and killed his estranged wife in Prince George County on May 5, then shot and killed a random male and female in Montgomery County on May 6.

The Governor has restored some “civil rights” but not all, which would include the right to keep & bear arms. This is a naked power...

CPRC has found that there are 18 State Capitols in the U.S. which officially allow some form of legal firearm carry for either visitors, legislators, employees, or all of the above. Some require the individual have a handgun carry permit before being allowed to enter the Capitol with a firearm. Here is the breakdown of those Capitols. In at least three other states, Iowa, Georgia, and Wyoming, guns are officially banned, but legislators have an agreement that allows them to carry. From our conversation with other legislators, even when there is an official ban, it is our clear understanding that...

On May 9 — less than two years since universal background checks were hoisted onto the backs of law-abiding citizens in Washington state — Gabby Giffords was in the state campaigning for special protective orders that will allow firearm confiscation. The orders — “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” — would be similar to California’s Gun Violence Restraining Orders, inasmuch as they would allow “family or household members” to petition a judge to order the temporary confiscation of firearms from another family member or person living in the household.
