Donald Trump will deliver a speech to thousands of NRA members at an annual meeting in Kentucky this week. But he wasn't always so pro-gun.
Rather than impose gun control on law-abiding citizens, he wants to imprison gun-toting violent criminals for longer periods of time. Rather than expand background checks, he wants to fix the current system, which he says is "broken."

He’s not a gun-grabber, that’s really all that matters.
Where he might’ve stood 16 years ago on “assault weapons” is irrelevant. I expect a normal person’s views to evolve and change over time (hopefully towards better ones—as apparently Trump’s have).
If CNN wanted to present a fairer story, they would have noted that in that same 2000 book where he supported the assault weapons ban, he also chided the Democrats for trying to take people’s guns in general away, arguing that the only thing that would accomplish would be to disarm law abiding citizens and leave only criminals with guns.
What’s missing in most of these discussion on the Second Amendment is that Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr. is a livid gun enthusiast and outdoors man. Take a listen - -
