Accused domestic abusers would have to surrender firearms within 24 hours under legislation that won final approval in the Senate on Monday afternoon and now heads to the governor for his expected signature. The bill was approved 23-13 after a two-and-three-quarter hour debate, in which Republicans failed in three attempts to amend it. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who proposed the legislation, indicated right after the vote that he supports the bill, which would require alleged domestic abusers — in most cases, men — to immediately give up their guns and ammunition if their partners seek restraining orders. The goal is...

There is no chance of burying the lead in this story. Hillary Clinton has vowed to support legislation to kill the gun industry. I am not here to advocate for one political party over another or one particular politician for President. The Shooter’s Log is about firearms, survival/prepping, hunting, etc. However, if you believe in the Second Amendment, hunting, and firearms, you really need to step up and pay attention to Hillary Clinton’s latest proclamation against your rights. Hillary is the Democratic frontrunner and in all likelihood going to be the Democratic Nominee. Recently, on her website, she proudly stated,...

California’s Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and state Democratic lawmakers appear to be on a collision course over a new round of gun control measures. Newsom, claiming lawmakers are dragging their feet, is collecting thousands of signatures in pursuit of a gun initiative ballot measure in November. But lawmakers say they’re planning to address these issues via legislation, and the initiative could hurt what they’re doing. Critics also say the proposed California ballot initiative contains a wide variety of restrictive, costly and unreasonable gun and ammunition control measures. The proposed “Safety for All As of 2016” initiative has 600,000 signatures from...

Question 1 is a waste of taxpayer time and money and would only hamper legal gun transfers while doing nothing to prevent crime or protect public safety. Preserve the strides made in 2015 for gun owners and vote NO on Question 1 this November. Additionally, tell your family, friends and colleagues and get the word out so we can collectively defeat this already vetoed proposal.

An 11-year-old boy from Talladega, Alabama, boasted about shooting at a fleeing burglar 12 times and mocked the man (whom he had wounded in the leg) for “crying like a baby”. Chris Gaither told WVTM news he was home alone Wednesday morning when he heard an intruder breaking into his house.

Chris Gaither was home alone “petting the dogs” on Wednesday morning when he heard a noise upstairs. The 11-year-old boy from Talladega, Ala., told NBC affiliate WVTM-TV that he was scared, so he grabbed a knife and steadied himself. Chris said that a man appeared on the stairwell, but when confronted, he ran back up upstairs. When the man reappeared moments later, the boy told WVTM-TV, the individual was holding a gun. “When he was coming down the stairs, that’s when he told me he was going to kill me, f-you and all that,” Chris said. Instead of running, Chris...

JPFO Launches "High Cap Freedom" by Rabbi Dovid Bendory, Rabbinic Director, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Copyright 2011 JPFO Rabbi BendoryJPFO today launches "The High Capacity Freedom Campaign". First, some background to highlight the hypocrisy and stupidity of a high-capacity magazine ban. Imagine you bought a Glock 17 9mm pistol a year ago. Your purchase was legal and included two 17-round magazines. Now along come Obama and other “common sense” gun-grabbers with a ban on “high capacity” magazines. The result? Based on the so-called “Assault Weapons” Ban of 1994, a federal mandate declares that after a certain date,...

A survey of African-American and Latino communities found most believe addressing gun violence can lead to improved police-community relations and reduced rates of incarceration, according to a new report. The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, the Urban Institute and the Joyce Foundation commissioned the study, which was based on a national survey of 1,200 African-American and Latino likely voters and four focus groups in Atlanta and Milwaukee. "I think people are coming to grips that we can't address these issues in isolation," said Reggie Moore, director of Milwaukee's Office of Violence Prevention. He also referenced the survey's finding...

Could the next president of the United States be neither Clinton, Trump, Cruz, or Kasich ... but Thomas Perez? It’s far more likely than you might think. Even before any candidate definitively secures either party’s presidential nomination, 2016 is looking more and more like 1912 all over again. In that fateful year, Theodore Roosevelt -- after four years of bored retirement -- decided that he wanted to be president again. However, Roosevelt’s handpicked successor William Howard Taft refused to yield. Because of the split, even though the Democrats’ dour, arrogant Woodrow Wilson won fewer popular votes than perennial failed...

The issue of nuisance lawsuits against gun manufacturers has moved well beyond the courtroom drama playing out with the Sandy Hook families. Bernie Sanders has managed to drive Hillary Clinton further to the left as she seeks lines of attack against the Vermont Senator, coaxing her into calling for the repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) in recent campaign stops. That may serve her purposes in the primary, but how well does such a position play nationally as we look forward to the general election in November? A new survey conducted by Harper Polling indicates...

A new gun control campaign is targeting Nevadans. A group founded by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, is pushing for new laws that would bar people on the terrorist watch list and the no-fly list from purchasing firearms. However, gun rights and civil rights groups continue to raise concerns about due process over those lists. The group, Americans for Responsible Solutions, said a majority of Nevadans would support a federal law prohibiting people on the FBI’s terrorist watch list or the no-fly list from buying firearms, according to poll results released Tuesday. Public...

Image from ABC News The above chart, created by ABC News, illustrates the trajectory of support and opposition for policies promoted by media elites that have no actual basis in fact or logic. New media allows a significant, underdog, method to distribute facts about the policy. The chart is a little misleading. It starts in the middle of 1994, when the elite media control was near its height, and at the end of a blitz of media efforts to push the "Assault Weapon Ban" policy. These sort of policies, that rely on emotion, have to be enacted quickly, before...

What does Hillary Clinton really believe on guns? This year, she is running to the left of Bernie Sanders. In 2008, she ran well to the right of Obama, arguing against any kind of federal “blanket rules.” On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton gave an address at Philadelphia’s St. Paul’s Baptist Church. With a nod to Pennsylvania’s high rate of gun ownership, she declared: “There is a Second Amendment, there are constitutional rights. We aren’t interested in taking away guns of lawful, responsible gun owners.” But in New York City in the fall, she told donors: “The Supreme Court is wrong on...

Destruction of the Magazine at Delhi During the Indian Mutiny 1857-58 Gun control, or more properly, the restrictions on the ownership and use of guns by the general population, was not a common or popular phenomena in Europe until after the First World War. One of the most influential and gun control laws was instituted in England and Wales in 1920. It has been the basis for a great deal of restrictions on the private ownership of firearms around the world, both in the Commonwealth countries and in Europe. These restrictions were not designed to protect the public from...
