The first of four adults charged in January with the hate crime of a white special needs 18-year-old has been freed on probation in what many people are likely to believe is a rather light sentence compared to the crime. More than two dozen people were arrested in DC, Maryland and Virginia Wednesday as the ATF, the FBI and local agencies teamed up for a gang-related sting operation, according to authorities. TUCSON – MS – 13 gang member was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations officers on Monday evening. Officers identified Jose Daniel Calderon-Canada, 29, after attempting to illegally cross the border at the Port of Nogales’ DeConcini crossing. Calderon-Canada claimed to be a U.S. citizen but after a secondary inspection officers determined he was lying about his citizenship. A man was arrested in Stuarts Draft by members of the Skyline Drug Task Force two weeks ago. Gustavo Guillen Cruz was deported three years ago after a Waynesboro conviction. Cruz, 28, was charged on Oct. 6 in Stuarts Draft with possession of methamphetamine. Cruz was deported in November of 2014 after being convicted of possession of meth in Waynesboro. He’s a self-admitted member of the Hispanic street gang Sureno 13, a press release said.

Eight MS-13 gang members in the notorious crew's "Sailors Clique" faction participated in a violent racketeering conspiracy in and around Maryland, engaging in a terrifying campaign of murder, drug trafficking and extortion, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. The men were named in a superseding indictment returned last month by a federal jury, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office. The indictment alleged the eight men were members or associates of the MS-13 gang with ties to El Salvador. Branches of the gang were known to exist and function throughout Prince George’s County and Montgomery County, Md., prosecutors said.
