The Houston Texans’ new wide receiver, Kenny Stills, took a knee during the national anthem before his first game playing for the team on Monday. In footage captured of the moment, Stills could be seen kneeling while “The Star Spangled Banner” played ahead of the team’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. The move comes roughly a week after the athlete was traded to the team from the Miami Dolphins.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott got into a fight with Eagles fans at Sunday's game against the visiting Washington Redskins after allegedly receiving racial taunts from tailgaters. A video was posted before Sunday's kickoff showing a person, apparently Scott, in a fight with Eagles fans outside the stadium. He did not appear to get hurt, and fans tweeted afterward that Scott took selfies with them. According to PhillyVoice, which interviewed around a dozen witnesses and reviewed video evidence, the incident began with playful ribbing, but turned ugly when some individuals directed racial slurs, including the n-word, at Scott.

Just days after a young student in Florida was bullied for wearing his homemade Tennessee T-shirt to school, the university has debuted his design on an official shirt — and Vols fans are loving it. More than 16,000 shirts have already been ordered through the VolShop, according to ESPN, and part of the proceeds will be donated to STOMP Out Bullying — a nonprofit organization that helps fight bullying nationwide.

Lynn Swann’s time as USC’s athletic director has come to an end. USC president Carol Folt announced Monday that Swann has resigned from his position and that Dave Roberts, a special advisor for Folt, will be the school’s interim AD until a new hire is made. Swann’s resignation is effective immediately.

The SEC announced Monday that Alabama’s Sept. 21 home game against Southern Mississippi will kickoff at 11 a.m. local time. The school is not happy about it. The school is so displeased with the news that president Stuart R. Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, multiple Dolphins players contacted their agents after Sunday’s season-opening blowout loss and directed them to attempt to engineer trades elsewhere. The players believe that the coaching staff, despite claiming that they intend to try to win, aren’t serious about competing and winning and by all appearances have bought into the notion that the Dolphins will take their lumps now in the hopes of laying the foundation via high draft picks for building a successful team...

Odell Beckham Jr. wore a watch on his left wrist in his first game as a Cleveland Brown. Not just any watch — a Richard Mille that will run you a few hundred grand retail. He stated he has no fear of it breaking amidst the on-field violence of the NFL. "It's indestructible," Beckham Jr. said. The watch looked really nice. So there's that. It is certainly more than anyone can say about the Browns, who got humiliated 43-13 by the Tennessee Titans in their ballyhooed season opener as a supposed Super Bowl contender.

Lamar Jackson tied a franchise record with five touchdown passes as his Baltimore Ravens routed the host Miami Dolphins 59-10 in Sunday’s season opener for both teams. ....Several Miami mistakes led to Baltimore’s first-half assault, including a Fitzpatrick interception and a fumbled punt return by Jakeem Grant. Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown returned to practice on Friday and will play in Oakland's Week 1 game against the Broncos, head coach Jon Gruden announced.
