According to Miami-Dade Schools Police, a student at Edison Park K-8 Center in Miami assaulted a classmate off campus on Tuesday with what they initially thought was a gun. Police are searching for the suspect in the downtown Fort Myers shooting that left one person dead and four others injured. The shooting happened in the 2200 block of First Street around 11:45 p.m. -- while the annual Zombicon event was going on in downtown Fort Myers. Thousands were filling the streets for the city's annual Zombicon Fest when witnesses say they heard eight to ten pops. Many immediately recognized it as gunfire and went running in every direction. LANTANA, Fla.,- A Florida woman said she mistook super glue for eye drops and ended up with her eye glued shut for several days. Katherine Gaydos said her ordeal began last week when a piece of debris flew into her eye while a friend was using a leaf blower. Riveria Beach police say Shawn Deandre Thomas was eating graham crackers this week at a church that provides meals for the homeless. A southwest Florida woman landed herself behind bars after calling 911 to complain about being shortchanged in a drug deal. According to a Fort Myers Police Department report, 36-year-old Erin Klich called police to complain that she'd attempted to buy $75 worth of marijuana, but never got the goods from the dealer. Fire rescue officials say half a dozen workers were spraying a marshy area Wednesday near Southwest 7th Street and 184th Terrace when they encountered the bees.
