ATLANTA (AP) — The state of Georgia on Wednesday delayed the execution of its only female death row inmate, ahead of a winter storm forecast to hit many areas with several inches of snow. Kelly Renee Gissendaner, 46, had been scheduled for execution at 7 p.m. at the state prison in Jackson. The execution has been reset for Monday, according to a Department of Corrections statement.
  • The Letter (NET NEUTRALITY)

    02/25/2015 11:30:15 AM PST · by yoe · 49 replies
Dear Senators and Representatives: There is no doubt that the public wants real Net Neutrality. Right now, the Federal Communications Commission is on the brink of fixing a decade of bad policies and preventing ISPs from discriminating online. In short: Let the FCC do its job. By reclassifying Internet-access service under Title II of the Communications Act, the FCC can protect Internet users from online discrimination and blocking. Any other approach will fall short. Don't put the public in the slow lane. Protect real Net Neutrality now. Thank you,
  • Is Hillary Clinton Stealing Speech Lines From Carly Fiorina?

    DC - Daily Caller ^ | February 24, 2015 | Al Weaver
First the book, now speech lines? During her speaking event in Silicon Valley, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seemingly snagged a campaign line from potential GOP 2016 candidate Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Clinton, the presumptive 2016 candidate for the Democratic Party, called on attendees at the conference to “unlock their full potential,” a line Fiorina uses. Ironically enough, Fiorina’s current Super PAC is entitled the “Unlocking Potential Project.” In fact, the mission statement for the Super PAC says the following: “Today, America suffers from self-inflicted wounds. Our nation has everything we need to lead, grow and...

Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber billed the State of Vermont for hours that “were impossible for him to accomplish ... for one of the invoices, which is September, and this is just an example, he billed out 500 hours a month for his research assistants. Well, the auditor found that he only had one research assistant. So, if you do that math ... the auditor even criticized the Democrat administration up here for this. The people who were supposed to be overseeing this contract did not demand any details at all from Professor Gruber. They just said — they just asked...
  • Exclusive — Scott Walker’s Son Matt Walker: ‘Those On The Left Are Afraid’ Of My Dad

Matt Walker, son of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker tells Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he thinks the institutional left is afraid of his father. In addition to attending Marquette University, Matt Walker is also currently the regional vice chairman of the midwest division of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC). [snip] A recent report from The Daily Caller detailed an extraordinary level of hateful rhetoric after University of Wisconsin-Madison College Republicans sent out a campus-wide email supporting Gov. Walker’s recent budget proposal. But liberals on the campus responded with such vitriol and hatred—rather than having a civil discourse...
  • Ukraine PM to Russia: 'Get out of our land'

As the cease-fire between Ukraine and Russia looks shaky at best, the prime minister of Ukraine told CNBC that Russia was not withdrawing heavy weaponry from the east of the country and needed to end its "illegal invasion." "I have a key aspiration, and this is the aspiration of the entire Ukrainian nation: Russians, get out of our land. But they are still in Ukraine; Russian military and boots are still on Ukrainian ground," Ukraine Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk told CNBC Tuesday.

Krauthammer’s Take: Iranian Negotiations Are ‘Simply Catastrophic’ On Tuesday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said the United States’ ongoing negotiations with Iran are misguided and make President Obama’s other foreign policy blunders look favorable by comparison. “This [deal] will mean a lifting of the sanctions, so Iran will be with a very strong economy, undeterred, nothing in any way holding it back; it’s simply catastrophic,” Krauthammer said. “It is an unbelievably bad deal. It makes the Cuba deal look like a really good bargain.” Krauthammer explained that he thinks the United States is negotiating from a place of weakness, which...

Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO who is flirting with a Republican presidential bid in 2016, took some tough shots Tuesday at the likely Democratic front-runner – effectively accusing Hillary Clinton of running for office on a record of air travel. "Like Hillary Clinton, I too have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles around the globe,” Fiorina said. “But unlike Hillary Clinton, I know that flying is an activity, not an accomplishment.” Fiorina spoke in Atlanta at a luncheon hosted by Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp. It marked at least the second time in as many months she has...

The fliers touted new ballfields, science labs and modern classrooms. They didn’t mention the crushing debt or the investment bank that stood to make millions. Melody Peterson Orange County Register February 15, 2013 Remember when Goldman Sachs – dubbed by Matt Taibbi the Vampire Squid – sold derivatives to Greece so the government could conceal its debt, then bet against that debt, driving it up? It seems that the ubiquitous investment bank has also put the squeeze on California and its school districts. Not that Goldman was alone in this; but the unscrupulous practices of the bank once called the...

Americans are becoming increasingly more suspicious struggling to find rhyme or reason for Obama’s latest Middle East policies. Rudy Giuliani seems to attribute Obama’s policies to be influenced through his affiliations with radical socialists like Frank Marshall Davis. But serious questions will prove that Obama’s policies are not different than a Muslim who supports the revival of the Muslim grand caliphate. Was Obama influenced only by a Marxist-Leninist agenda or did he also not grow up Muslim, having learned how to recite the Muslim call to prayer in the classical Arabic tongue as he clearly admits? Can anyone even deny...

Gerbils are cute and furry creatures. They may also, according to scientists, have been responsible for killing millions of people across Europe by spreading the plague. Researchers now believe that gerbils from Asia, rather than native black rats, were behind the repeated outbreaks of the bubonic plague in Europe.
  • Reporter Mocks Scott Walker For Claiming To Communicate With God Through Prayer

Political Wire publisher Taegan Goddard got a lot of flack on Twitter after mocking Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for claiming he could discern God’s will, only to admit that he had no idea Christians believed they could communicate with God through prayer. It all began with a rather snarky tweet about Walker’s comments that he was still waiting for “God’s calling” before he announced a presidential run. [snip] As Goddard received criticism from religious followers, he shot back at critics by claiming that he wasn’t showing disdain for people of faith, even as his tone became more and more sarcastic....

"..........The right-to-work debate comes in the wake of the 2011 fight over Walker's law that effectively ended collective bargaining for most public workers. That law also prohibited the automatic withdrawal of union dues for public workers, like the right-to-work measure would do in the private sector. Walker administration spokesman Cullen Werwie said between 1,800 and 2,000 people were inside and outside the Capitol at midday and there had been no arrests. After the rally, protesters filed into the Capitol rotunda and joined the ongoing hearing. While union members were vowing to fight the measure and try to sway Republicans to...

An epidemic of federal employees watching pornography on government computers during work hours has gotten so out of control that legislation has been introduced in Congress to contain the embarrassing crisis. Porn has for years been part of the job at some government agencies and in fact a number of federal audits have long documented the enraging details of how our tax dollars are being wasted. Judicial Watch has also reported on this for years, especially the porn crisis at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the agency charged with policing the nation’s financial industry. While the economy crumbled, the...

Ash Carter has quietly thrown down the gauntlet in a lingering dispute with Russia: If President Vladimir Putin continues to violate the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, the U.S. could respond in kind. “The range of options we should look at from the Defense Department could include active defenses to counter intermediate-range ground-launched cruise missiles; counter-force capabilities to prevent intermediate-range ground-launched cruise missile attacks; and countervailing strike capabilities to enhance U.S. or allied forces,” Carter told senators in little-noticed written answers to follow-up questions from his confirmation hearing. The defense secretary’s bottom line: “U.S. responses must make clear to Russia that...

Al-AOUR, Minya Egypt - The residents of al-Aour, a dusty village in Minya governorate some 250km south of Cairo, are struggling to come to terms with their loss. Last week, 13 residents of the village, all of whom were Coptic Christians, were executed by Islamic State fighters in Libya. When news of the executions broke (IS released a graphic video of the killing on the Internet) women and children in homes across the village, which is home to 2,500 Christians, could be heard screaming. When I visited al-Aour last week, people were sad and dismayed at the killings. Others seemed...

Assyrians in northeastern Syria villages awoke Tuesday to ISIS militants at their doors, with the Islamist extremists abducting scores from the Christian group and forcing hundreds more to run for their lives, an advocate said. The ISIS fighters bust past a few men guarding the village of Tal Shamiram around 4 a.m. (9 p.m. ET Monday) and abducted children, women and the elderly, said Usama Edward, the founder of the Assyrian Human Rights Network. Talking to CNN from Stockholm, Sweden, Edward said that between 70 and 100 people total were kidnapped in that village and others in the same cluster...
