At first glance, the optical illusion given off by the decal is so convincing that it really does appear that there is a woman in the back. A Texas woman is being sued for injuries suffered by Harris County Deputy Sheriff Braden Pullen when he responded to her 911 call. The woman didn’t injure the Deputy. Newly-released 911 tapes offer more insight into the tense moments between a University of Virginia student and undercover agents from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. A Washington woman suffering from mental and hearing disabilities was left with severe bruises on her face after she claims an officer punched over and over her because she could not understand his orders. Megan Graham, 36, of Federal Way, dialed 911 while being arrested last Monday to complain about police brutality after being pulled over by an officer and hit in the face. Things quickly spiraled out of control during Graham's run-in with police officers, whom the 36-year-old disabled woman had accused of hitting her several times in the face while attempting to restrain her. The Chicago Police Department hopes to free up the equivalent of 44 officers a day by no longer dispatching cops for certain crimes, like burglaries and car thefts in which the offender is no longer at the scene and no one is in immediate danger. Emergency communications officials say some of the 911 calls made during a shooting rampage at a Minneapolis sign company went unanswered. Communications director Heather Hunt says as many as six people who made 911 calls hung up when no one answered. The Detroit Police Department unveiled a new 9-1-1 policy recently, and it’s got some people worried. Why? Because unless there seems to be an imminent threat, callers will get transferred to a crime reporting unit. “This is how it works,” WJBK-TV explains. “If you’ve been held up and the gunman is long gone, or you’ve been assaulted but not too badly, or your home has been broken into, that’s not 911 anymore.
