A new poll shows that only 15 percent of Americans want former Florida Governor Jeb Bush to run for president. The latest YouGov/Economist poll shows that 47 percent indicated that they did not want Bush to run. Thirty-eight percent indicated that they were not sure. The poll also shows that both Bush and former Governor Chris Christie get a 49 percent favorability rating among those that identified themselves as Republicans. Christie, however, is disliked by 37 percent of Republicans, which is a higher unfavorable rating than Jeb Bush - who got 25 percent. Forty-two percent of respondents who identified themselves...

On Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) endorsed Nebraska Senate candidate Ben Sasse and announced he will attend a rally next week for him along with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Mike Lee on Friday. “I have gotten to know Ben Sasse, and while Nebraskans have good choices, Ben is the strongest conservative voice running for United States Senate,” Cruz said in a statement. “Ben will not be just another vote in the Senate – he will be a leader in the fight to stop the Obama agenda and repeal ObamaCare from day one. We need strong reinforcements like...
  • Trayvon Martin's father wants son's death to renew civil rights movement(New "Emmett Till")

    Long Island Newsday ^ | April 23, 2014 | Joan Gralla
Tracy Martin wants his son, Trayvon, to be remembered as this century's Emmett Till, and have his death reawaken the nation's lagging civil rights movement. "We want him to be known as that child of central Florida who galvanized the country," said Martin, who was a guest speaker at Nassau Community College on Wednesday. "We would like to see his name in the history books of modern days, taking his place beside Emmett Till [though] Emmett Till has a legacy I don't think any African-American child will surpass." Till, 14, was killed in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of...
  • The Rand Paul Abortion Fiasco [March 21, 2013]

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) appears to be a double-minded man on abortion.  How he can last week be the primary sponsor for a Life at Conception bill and then the following week tell CNN in an interview that there are “thousands of exceptions” is beyond me.  The Hill reports: Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Tuesday he’s open to “thousands of exceptions” to a ban on abortion.Paul has said he believes life begins at conception, but in an interview with CNN the Republican emphasized he is also a physician who treats each case individually.“What I would say is that there are...
  • Senate Candidate’s Silent Pause Demolishes Democrat Gary Peters’ ‘War on Women’ Meme

VIDEO AT LINKTerri Lynn Land, who’s running for the U.S. Senate against leftist progressive Democrat and current Congressman Gary Peters, is tired of the ridiculous “War on Women” meme that Democrats invented to smear Republicans (WATCH VIDEO BELOW). But it didn’t take any words for Land, the former Michigan secretary of state, to destroy Peters’ accusation. All is took was a pregnant pause to make the accusation that a woman would be waging a “War on Women” look moronic in this quite funny new ad by Terri Lynn Land, entitled simply, “Really?” The Michigan senate race is turning out to...
  • Cruz: Bundy Standoff Culmination of Obama’s ‘Jackboot of Authoritarianism’

Ted Cruz weighed in on the Cliven Bundy situation with Texas radio host Chad Hasty Tuesday, and he called the standoff between Bundy supporters (some armed) and federal agents a tragic situation, but one that was the “culmination” of how President Obama has been pushing for a bigger and more intrusive federal government. Cruz said that since Obama took over, “we have seen our liberty under assault” from a government “hell-bent on expanding its authority over every aspect of our lives.” He went after Obama for eroding the nation’s constitutional liberties and not understanding the point of the federal government...

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told ABC News he believes the Supreme Court ruling on  the Defense of Marriage Act  was appropriate,  and that the issue should be left to the states. He praised Justice Anthony Kennedy for avoiding “a cultural war.”“As a country we can agree to disagree,” Paul said today, stopping for a moment to talk as he walked through the Capitol. “As a Republican Party, that’s kind of where we are as well. The party is going to have to agree to disagree on some of these issues.”The comments from Paul, a likely GOP presidential candidate in 2016,...
  • Bill O’Reilly to Cliven Bundy supporter: What makes you different from Occupy Wall Street?

The Fox News host grills a member of the militia movement on why it's OK for Bundy to break the law but not OWS.To a significant degree, American politics is a story of insiders vs. outsiders, so it’s inevitable that people among the latter group would be lumped together, even if they’re quite different by any other measure. Still, it’s probably fair to say that when most people think of Nevada renegade rancher Cliven Bundy, the Zuccotti Park protesters of Occupy Wall Street don’t immediately — or eventually — come to mind. Yet on the Tuesday night edition of his...

It’s not the first time a Democrat has insulted military members and veterans, and it certainly won’t be the last. Democrats, not all of them, mind you, but a goodly chunk show a disdain for the military. What is interesting is that a) this is Blue on Blue, and b) how the attack is phrased A veterans group is demanding an apology from Attorney General Doug Gansler, a Democratic candidate for governor. The group says Gansler made a disparaging remark about Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown’s service in Iraq. Gansler said he doesn’t consider what Col. Anthony Brown did in Iraq...

Hoping to galvanize their base further, Republicans are casting the midterm elections as a golden opportunity to fire Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who has served as lead blocker for President Obama’s liberal agenda on Capitol Hill and chief opponent of GOP legislation. The attacks are being espoused inside and outside the Capital Beltway and could become staples of the Republican message as the party looks to pick up the six seats needed to take the Senate gavel out of Mr. Reid’s hands.

  • Quinn Campaign Wonders: Black Republicans Like Jewish Nazis?

Illinois Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn is in some hot water with the Jewish community after his campaign tweeted—and then quietly deleted—several messages urging backers to read an article comparing black Republican voters to Jews who collaborated with the Nazis. Chicago Sun Times readers were stunned last week to find that writer Neil Steinberg has penned a column comparing black supporters of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner to Jews who collaborated with the Nazis against their brethren. “As a general rule, individuals will sell out the interests of their groups in return for personal benefit,” Steinberg wrote in his column, which...

Rand Paul is a pro-life Senator from Kentucky who appears poised to become one of the candidates for the Republican nomination for president in 2016. Although he has a strong pro-life voting record, Paul is making comments about abortion that are concerning pro-lifers. randpaul3As LifeNews reported earlier this year, Paul said in an interview that Republicans should agree to disagree on social issues. Now, in a new interview, Paul says he doesn’t anticipate changing the laws on abortion and added that his belief that life begins at conception is a personal and religious one, not a scientific viewpoint.
  • GE Boss Jeff Immelt Says ObamaCare Hurting Business

A week after General Electric blamed Obamacare for hurting its medical business, the company's chairman on Wednesday warned that uncertainty in the health care field will persist for much longer. “I think that there's still a lot of uncertainty in health care and we'll just have to see that over time,” warned Jeff Immelt during a shareholders' meeting in Chicago. Last week, the firm released financial figures which showed a rise in profits, but a cut in its medical business. That was blamed on companies and hospitals holding back on purchases of GE equipment out of concern over how bad...
  • Comparing Andy Biggs to Harry Reid: Palin blasts AZ Senate president on constitutional convention

Arizona’s Senate president is under fire from an unlikely source within his own political party: Sarah Palin. The former vice presidential candidate took to Facebook on Tuesday to chastise Senate President Andy Biggs as the “only man standing in the way” of a vote on a measure to call an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Palin notes that similar measures have already been approved in several states. But she said thanks to Biggs, a Gilbert Republican and leader of the GOP in the Senate, Arizona’s opportunities to approve SCR 1016 are rapidly dwindling. Legislatures in...

April 23, 2014, 06:22 pm McCain says illegal immigrants are 'not going home' By Rebecca Shabad Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday that immigrants living in the United States illegally are not going home, and that the U.S. has no practical way of forcing them to leave. "They're not going home. And so why don't we give them a path to citizenship," McCain asked at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy Jr. forum. "There are not enough buses to deport them," he added. "It's de facto amnesty." The senator, who has pushed for immigration reform, said once Congress passes legislation he...

  • MSNBC's Chris Hayes: Preventing Global Warming Is Like Freeing Slaves

In The Nation magazine MSNBC host Christopher Hayes spent thousands of words and four web pages explaining how those working at preventing global warming are somehow just like the abolitionists who fought to free the slaves just prior to the American Civil War. Calling it a "new abolitionism," Hayes opens his article rehashing the South's "peculiar institution," pegging its long life to "so much goddamn money." Then he segues into likening today's global warming alarmists to those moralists and abolitionists of old. After 11 paragraphs of making this comparison, Hayes then weakly states, "So before anyone misunderstands my point, let...

Her family says she suffered a stroke over the weekend. Hayes was elected mayor of San Jose in 1974, becoming the first woman in the United States to lead a city of more than 500,000 people. “She was a trailblazer who helped open the door for women to serve their communities in public office,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren said in a statement. “She was the one who declared San Jose...
