Aggregator extraordinaire Matt Drudge briefly linked to Gawker’s story that alleged ABC’s Robin Roberts “wasn’t enthusiastic” about landing her big gay marriage interview with President Obama because she was worried it would call attention to the “near-open secret that Roberts is a lesbian” this afternoon and the site took the opportunity to taunt him with an update. “Internet behemoth Matt Drudge, who has just directed his readers to this post, is also commonly understood to be gay,” the update said. Mr. Drudge removed his link to Gawker within a matter of minutes.

Rick Santorum isn’t happy about the possibility of Matt Drudge being out to help Mitt Romney, and he’s being vocal about it. But at least one conservative who has been sympathetic to Santorum in the past is telling him to knock it off with indicting Drudge in this: Glenn Beck, who compared Drudge to William Randolph Hearst and insisted Santorum not fight with “a man who buys ink by the barrel.”

BOSTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) announced his endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney. Senator Santorum served two terms in the United States Senate where he was also Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, the third-ranking member of the Republican leadership.

It has been hard to miss Matt Drudge's pro-Romney bias. He has done whatever he can to go after Newt and, to a lesser extent, Santorum. But pro-Obama? Really? Well, Andrew Breitbart made similar comments to me as are reported in this story...

A former Los Angeles radio show host is claiming today that Democrat Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008 with the secret assistance of the grand daddy of Republican bloggers: Matt Drudge. John Ziegler, a conservative activist who gained fame in Southern California for his talk shows on LA powerhouse station KFI-AM from 2004 to 2007, wrote in a column he had living proof that at critical points in the last election Drudge erased or blocked from his Drudge Report potent, negative news about Obama. But Ziegler's living proof is now dead: Andrew Breitbart, a former Drudge Report employee, who...

Rick Santorum is far from alone in professing a belief in Satan. In fact, most Americans believe in the devil too. Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator and 2012 Republican presidential contender, is making headlines this week for comments he made at a Catholic university in 2008 about Satan having his “sights on” America. In the speech, which resurfaced recently, Santorum told an audience at Ave Maria University in southwest Florida: “Satan [has been] attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that [have]...

Rick Santorum appears to be gearing up for a showdown. In remarks to about 250 supporters in the auditorium of a Masonic lodge, the surging Republican presidential hopeful and former Pennsylvania senator didn’t directly refer to any of his recent campaign-trail statements that have drawn controversy. -snip- The audience applauded, as did the man, who earlier in the speech was holding up a sign that read, “Drudge wants Mitt. AZ picks Rick.”

Rick Santorum was sitting at the center of the Drudge Report's homepage Tuesday afternoon looking like a religious nut. "SANTORUM'S SATAN WARNING," the headline screamed, under a black-and-white photo of the candidate standing behind a lectern with a cross on it. The conservative blogger drives mad crazy traffic, and he's using it to attack the biggest threat to his reported ally, Mitt Romney. This isn't the first time Drudge has gone nuclear on a Republican who threatened Romney's candidacy.

Some Republicans expressed concern that Mitt Romney's campaign is stuck in neutral and limping, not lunging, toward the party's U.S. presidential nomination. Even before Rick Santorum's sweep of contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri Tuesday, the Romney campaign was getting warnings and advice from Republicans concerned about the former Massachusetts governor's performance on the stump, which hasn't improved since the state caucuses and primaries began early in January,

Mitt Romney is in danger of losing his fourth straight state in Saturday's caucuses in Maine, where he and his allies have been all but absent from TV. That's no coincidence. Over the past month, he has won in states where he and an allied super PAC, called Restore Our Future, have pounded his rivals with millions of dollars in negative ads. But he has tended to lose big when he has stopped using his power to crush other contenders by spending a ton of money — particularly on TV.

Mitt Romney acknowledged on Wednesday that his path to the Republican presidential nomination is not going to be easy after three shock losses to newly ascendant rival Rick Santorum. A day after Santorum beat him in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, Romney attempted to play down the results, saying his campaign did not devote a lot of time and money to the three state nominating contests and chose to compete strongly elsewhere.

Rick Santorum is about to see the kitchen sink up-close. So far he hasn’t been a threat, so he hasn’t faced much harsh scrutiny, much less the attacks that are about to come his way. His candidacy is for real, and Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney both know it. While Gingrich thought he could isolate Romney and become his lone real competitor, yesterday’s results, combined with a deflating Gingrich campaign, have allowed Santorum to leapfrog Gingrich as the more viable Romney alternative today. It’s not in Gingrich’s nature to give up. Attacking Romney hasn’t gotten him to where he thought...

Whatever your perspective on how likely Mitt Romney was to lose the Republican nomination race prior to Tuesday evening, it should be acknowledged that he had about the worst results conceivable. In Minnesota, a state which Mr. Romney carried easily in 2008, he has so far failed to win a single county — and got just 17 percent of the vote. That put him 27 points behind Rick Santorum, and 10 points behind Ron Paul, who finished in second. Missouri is a less important result since its beauty contest primary did not count for delegate selection and since turnout was...

For many years, the Drudge Report has served as a clearinghouse for many conservatives about the news of the day. But according to the not-too-conservative Politico, Matt Drudge's news aggregation website leaves Gingrich "looking like a dangerous, anti-Reagan, Clintonian fraud." Matt Barber is director of cultural affairs at Liberty Counsel. He says it is obvious that Drudge is "all in" for Mitt Romney. "Matt Drudge has decided to completely sell out and has signed on with the moderate Republican establishment and is pushing the Mitt Romney campaign and is acting as the attack dog against Newt Gingrich," Barber comments. "And...
