Police shot a dog Tuesday in North Toledo while executing a search warrant with the SWAT team. Gregory Schrecongost, 26, of 1868 Chase St. was arrested on three drug-related charges after police searched his home. People at the scene said officers shot Schrecongost’s 12-year-old male “pit bull” that had been inside the fenced yard when police arrived.

A man walking his dog in San Francisco’s Mission district early Friday morning was threatened by two men with a knife, who police said ended up stabbing his pet to death. According to the San Francisco police, one of the suspects grabbed the dog, sparking a street fight between the three men at the intersection of 22nd and Bartlett streets about 3 a.m. After the two suspects, both in their 20s, ran away, the owner realized his dog had been stabbed. Officers arrested two men they say tried to sell the puppy back to his owners. The 13-week-old pit bull puppy named Thor was taken along with electronics during a burglary March 13, police said. Authorities say two men made arrangements with one owner to sell Thor back and agreed to meet in a parking lot at White Marsh Mall. Police say detectives met the men this week, recovered Thor and arrested the men. Thirty-seven-year-old Mark Tyrone Gibson and 33-year-old William Terrell Hudson, both of Baltimore, were charged with burglary and theft.

It was a harrowing night for the Anaheim Police Department. After officers responded to an incident at an apartment complex, Bruno, a police canine, was shot.
