Bentley doesn’t have Ebola, but he’ll stay isolated in Dallas with plenty of time to play and snooze until Nov. 1, when his quarantine is over. His owner, Nina Pham, has since been upgraded from fair to good condition after contracting Ebola. Bentley is Ebola-free, but his quarantine isn’t over. The cute Cavalier King Charles spaniel — whose owner, Texas nurse Nina Pham, is battling the dangerous virus at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland — will be kept in isolation until Nov. 1 despite testing negative for the infection, according to a statement released by the city of...

Corinna Caron says she wasn’t home Friday night when security cameras captured five pit bulls mauling her basset hound, Elvis. “When we got here, they had Elvis in the garage. His ears were bleeding, his neck was bleeding,” Caron said Monday. Neighbors across the street and next door came running when they heard the commotion. One of the pit bulls was shot and killed. “If they hadn’t been here, we wouldn’t have Elvis. There’s no doubt in my mind that Elvis wouldn’t have survived that attack,” she said. It’s not Elvis’ first encounter with the dogs. We’re told they’ve gone...

1924: Pep, “The Cat-Murdering Dog” Pep "The Cat-Murdering Dog" was a black Labrador Retriever admitted to Eastern State Penitentiary on August 12, 1924. Prison folklore tells us that Pennsylvania Governor Gifford Pinchot used his executive powers to sentence Pep to Life Without Parole for killing his wife’s cherished cat. Prison records support this story: Pep’s inmate number (C-2559) is skipped in prison intake logs and inmate records. The Governor told a different story. He said Pep had been sent to Eastern to act as a mascot for the prisoners. He and the Warden, Herbert “Hard-Boiled” Smith, were friends. Pep was...

  • When You Put A Doberman On A Playground Slide, The Results Are Not Always Predictable [Video]

An owner of two Dobermans thought it would be amusing to take the dogs to a playground and see what happens when he put them on a slide there. Somewhere in the end, a lesson was learned. Maybe. Don’t worry, no one was hurt — neither human nor canine — in making this video, which is going viral today. But it does show that a Doberman can exercise basic common sense. Well, sort of. “It was my stepson 23 yrs old that went up the steps & had the dogs follow him up and PERSUADED THEM TO SLIDE,” wrote Sherry...

KIRO 7 obtained dog bite statistics in Western Washington and found out that pit bulls are 8.5 times more likely to attack than other breeds. Some say there's no such thing as dangerous dog breeds, but Mike and Stephanie Bright say that's not true. Their daughter, Stephanie, was 13 months old when they say she was bitten by a pit bull at a birthday party in Tacoma. "All of a sudden I was sitting at one table and she was at another, and the children were all having a good time, too, and the dog started to come close to...
