The 11th Circuit has released their en banc ruling on Wollschlaeger v. Florida. They partly reversed the three judge panels ruling on whether doctors have the right to interrogate patients on gun ownership, and record the answers in medical records, outside of reasons concerning individual patient care. A federal appeals court has ruled that a Florida law restricting doctors from asking patients whether they own guns restricts the right to free speech. Two-thirds of Americans are okay with doctors discussing guns, according to a new survey published by The Annals of Internal Medicine. The online survey asked Americans whether it’s appropriate for healthcare professionals to talk to their patients about guns.
