As fear sweeps the nation about the prospect of Islamic State terrorists winning in Iraq and the Ebola virus spreading in the United States, President Obama’s job approval rating is taking a beating and some Democrats’ hopes for keeping the Senate majority are losing ground. Sen. Kay R. Hagan of North Carolina, who entered the race as one of the most endangered Democrats but managed to hold a lead for most of the campaign season, suddenly was overtaken by Republican Thom Tillis in a SurveyUSA poll this week, 46 percent to 45 percent. In liberal-leaning New Hampshire, Republican Scott Brown...

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania state legislator exchanged gunfire with a would-be robber near the state Capitol in Harrisburg, city police said Wednesday. Rep. Marty Flynn and another lawmaker were walking to their residence after a late dinner with other legislators when two males accosted them and demanded their wallets just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Flynn is a former Lackawanna County prison guard who is licensed to carry a handgun. He drew his pistol and fired during the attempted holdup. At least one of the two would-be robbers was armed, police said, but neither Flynn nor the...

Speculation Abounds That Ebola Will Be Used As Excuse To Implement Martial Law Christopher Agee — October 14, 2014 "...what could be more economically devastating than..." Renowned black conservative writer Mychal Massie shared a unique – if disturbing – view regarding the ultimate result of the current Ebola scare. While the disease is currently contained within the U.S., he noted that it is not the only potential outbreak facing the nation and that the current administration is doing little to reduce the threat. “We are being placed in eminent peril by disease-carrying illegal aliens flooding our shores,” he wrote in...

If next month produces a big Republican year, with the GOP gaining control of the Senate and expanding its majority in the House, it will say little or nothing about 2016, when a presidential electorate and a very different Senate class combine to create the makings of a substantially good Democratic year. But if the GOP fails to capture the Senate this year, 2016 could turn into an unmitigated disaster for the party. And for that reason, Republicans are under extremely heavy pressure to take back the Senate in November. Four years ago, a Republican wave swept across much of...

Earlier today, Alex Griswold told you about Wendy Davis doubling down on her campaign-imploding “Look at the cripple” ad. Or tripling down, or quadrupling down, or however many times it’s been at this point. She told Andrea Mitchell that the ad was “fair.” Oh, and Abbott is “working to kick that ladder down.” Well said, Wendy. But believe it or not, Mitchell said something even dumber. At about the 1:00 mark in the above video, she emitted this brainfart:.....

The Democrats’ “war on women” strategy has always been frivolous and intellectually dishonest, and it is now being revealed as ineffective, too. Let us call the roll: Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Kentucky secretary of state hoping to oust Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, is trailing in the polls in spite of being a cause célèbre for the Hollywood Left — Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Katzenberg have lavished Manhattan and Beverly Hills money upon her race — even after having engaged in such questionable shenanigans as attempting to portray Senator McConnell, an original cosponsor of the Violence Against Women Act, as...

Billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer’s super PAC, Next Gen Climate, wants to implement a “haircut strategy” against Republican campaigns in order to depress conservative turnout. “Our Republican Haircut Strategy — a precision focus on a specific harm in target Republican markets — we will seek to degrade Republican performance,” a memo from Steyer’s super PAC explains in a memo obtained by Politico that the RNC flagged as a “voter suppression” tactic. “The election results in many states may be as narrow as a few thousand votes, so we sought to determine whether we could have an impact at the margins of...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)A spate of new Senate projections shows Republicans widening the electoral map and increasing their chances of a GOP takeover. On Monday, the The Washington Post's Election Lab forecast showed Republicans with a 94% chance of winning the Senate and a 99% chance of maintaining control of the House. The New York Times is similarly projecting a Republican takeover in the Senate. According to the Times' statistical forecast, the GOP currently holds a 64% chance of reclaiming the Senate....

When the North Carolina State Assembly set out to pass a resolution in 2007 expressing the body’s regret for its participation in the institution of slavery, conservatives objected on the grounds that black North Carolinians would use it to advance the cause of reparations. Republican Assemblyman Thom Tillis, who is now challenging Democrat Kay Hagan for her U.S. Senate seat, sought to allay those conservatives' concerns by flipping the argument. Reparations already exist in the form of welfare programs, he noted, and Republicans would be better positioned to oppose them if they purchased some goodwill with conservative Democrats by acknowledging...

A ridiculous and over-the-top ad produced by a progressive non-profit blames Republican budget cuts for the Ebola outbreak in an attempt to deflect criticism away from the incompetent Obama administration. Via RCP: The Agenda Project is a progressive non-profit political organization founded in 2010 by author Erica Payne. This ad, featuring clips of Mitch McConnell, Pat Roberts, and many other Republicans implies that austerity cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and National Institutes of Health are responsible for the 2014 Ebola outbreak. The ad, titled "Republican Cuts Kill," will run in Kentucky and other states leading up to the...

Democrats have rushed out of the gate with an attack ad against Republicans claiming if only we had spent more money, we would be able to solve the Ebola situation. It’s a defensive ad that reeks of desperation. At a time when more and more Americans, including millennials, are concluding government just doesn’t work, it probably won’t be effective. And Republicans can respond in kind. For example, instead of studying Ebola, the National Institutes of Health were studying the propensity of lesbians to be fat. Then there was the money for a study on wives who calm down quickly. And the Centers for...

In what some project to be the opening gambit of a potential 2016 presidential campaign, Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley (D) declared that access to WiFi is a human right. “I’m not saying that people should merely be free to purchase and use WiFi at their own expense,” O’Malley clarified. “Doing what you please and paying for it out of your own pocket is an archaic conception of basic human rights. It may have been fine for our nation’s Founding Fathers because they didn’t know any better. Fortunately, we’ve made significant advances in our thinking since then.” A key phrase that...

Remember when Obama said… “Chances of Ebola Outbreak in U.S. Extremely Low.”(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Today the second confirmed Ebola case was announced in Dallas, Texas. Dr. David Lakey, Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner, said officials are still unsure how this happened. New Yorker columnist John Cassidy: Ebola Becoming Election Nightmare for Democrats New Yorker columnist John Cassidy wrote an article last week on how the politics of Ebola could spell electoral doom for the Democrats should more cases arise in the U.S. “Welcome to the great Ebola scare of 2014, which pits an increasingly jumpy American public against the technocrats of...

Last week, the Supreme Court declined to hear several Appeals Court cases on gay marriages, which resulted in bans on gay marriage being struck down in numerous states across the country. Following the Supreme Court's decision to punt on the issue of gay marriage, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd saw this as a sign that social conservatism was declining and obnoxiously asked "it is time for conservatives to surrender in the culture wars?" After playing a pre-packaged segment on the evolution of social conservatism in the United States, the NBC host did his best to portray social conservatives as...

The "people's movement" is a reference to progressives working within the Democratic Party The Washington Post headline said the convoluted answer constituted “40 painful seconds of Alison Lundergan Grimes refusing to say whether she voted for President Obama.” The Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate evaded direct questions from a newspaper’s editorial board about whether she had voted for Obama. It was truly an embarrassment. NBC’s Chuck Todd basically said she’s finished as a candidate. But while Lundergan Grimes is avoiding the issue, and Obama is not even on the ballot this year, the Communist Party is openly organizing against the Republican...

At the beginning of the summer, the White House and Democrats on the Hill promised to highlight issues that were near and dear to the hearts of their core constituencies of single women, minorities, and young people. To that end, they launched a series of attacks on Republicans: “war on women,” income inequality, exploiting racial tensions in Ferguson, and a promise from the president to take executive action on immigration. None of those issues have resonated with their targets. The needle has hardly moved and it appears that Senate Democratic incumbents, as well as other Democratic congressional candidates, are going...

We touched on the rather strange goings on in New York’s 21 congressional district race last weekend, but the fascinating candidate put up by the Democrats just keeps bringing me back to the well. Millionaire filmmaker Aaron Woolf met up with his opponent, Republican small businesswoman Elise Stefanik for a debate this week. In the midst of the action, he suddenly popped up with an observation which left everyone scratching their heads. “I don’t know if you have ever worked manually for a living like I have and I’m certain that [Green Party candidate Matt Funiciello] probably has-I don’t know...
