DENVER (AP) — Colorado’s Supreme Court on Monday knocked six-term U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn from his party’s primary, saying the Colorado Springs Republican didn’t collect enough valid voter signatures to qualify for the ballot.

The Colorado Supreme Court has done what chronic primary challenges could not: end the congressional career of six-term Rep. Doug Lamborn (R). The State Supremes ruled that Lamborn (R) of Colorado Springs did not submit his petitions correctly and will not be on the ballot. The culprit is a technicality of Colorado’s byzantine ballot-qualification laws: Lamborn employed a firm that used a non-eligible petition circulator, and thus those petitions were invalid. Lamborn was always one of those strange incumbents who never got a hold on his district despite not making waves in DC: poor relationships with the local conservative establishment...

The Republican Senate candidate in Colorado has been trailing Sen. Michael Bennet in recent polls but he is hoping for some "Labor Day magic." Darryl Glenn has consistently lagged behind Bennet by double digits in one of the few competitive Senate seats that Democrats are defending this cycle. Glenn won his five-way primary race in June after the campaign of former state Rep. Jon Keyser imploded. “I’m just not sure what happened here,” veteran Republican communications consultant Sean Duffy told The Denver Post. “You would think that a gentleman with his oratorical skills and background … you would think there...

Right now, something historic is happening in Colorado - the rise of conservative black Republicans. Yet few other than those carefully paying attention are aware that the Republican Party is literally making U.S. history in the Centennial State because local and national media have placed the story on blackout. (Pun intended.)

Colorado U.S. Senate candidate Darryl Glenn says he was defending his mother against an abusive father in a 1983 altercation that led to a misdemeanor assault charge against Glenn. Glenn, the Republican challenger to Democrat Michael Bennet, had previously denied he was arrested when asked about the charge by The Denver Post, which reported his statement on Thursday. The charge against the then-18-year-old Glenn was dropped. Glenn said he did not remember the incident until he spoke this week to his mother about it.

Darryl Glenn, a tea party favorite, on Tuesday secured the Republican nomination for Senate in Colorado, one of the only places where the GOP thought it had a real chance to pick up a seat in 2016. But as the El Paso County commissioner makes his first run for statewide office – a challenging feat for even the most seasoned and well-financed politician in a purple state like Colorado – it is not clear that the Republican establishment is willing to give him a hand against Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet. Senate Republican leaders instead appear to be focusing the...

DENVER – Darryl Glenn emerged as the winner Tuesday following a divisive and chaotic five-man Republican U.S. Senate race that observers saw as uncertain to the last minute. Glenn will now turn his attention to incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet, who has received more than $7.6 million in individual contributions and has more than $5.7 million in the bank, after already purchasing significant television advertising in recent months. Glenn, an El Paso County commissioner, earned 37 percent of the vote as of 8:30 p.m. He was followed by Jack Graham with 25 percent, Robert Blaha with 16 percent, Jon Keyser with...

U.S. Senate GOP candidate Darryl Glenn picked up a major endorsement on Tuesday in the race to be the nominee to run against Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has come out in support of the Colorado Springs Republican, calling him a proven hero.“Over two decades of exemplary military service brought him honor and adulation from his intelligence, leadership skills, fiscal responsibility and patriotism,” Palin said on her Facebook page. “His deserved recognition honed a servant’s heart. He’s one who proudly clings to God, guns and our Constitution.”It is unknown if the endorsement also will...

The Republican Party is getting a political blood transfusion. For Democrats, this may not be good news. Colorado's GOP transformation progressed Saturday with the convention election of El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn to run in the Republican primary of the United States Senate. He won with 2,664 votes. Tim Neville, the presumed front-runner going in, garnered only 696 votes.
