During his campaign for President, Donald Trump declared that he would not approve a proposed merger between AT&T and Time Warner on the grounds the deal represented “too much concentration of power in the hands of too few.” But as with so much else when it comes to Trump, it appears that vow is negotiable. On Thursday, the Financial Times reported that Trump’s transition team assured AT&T they would review the deal with an open mind, and that company executives came away confident that the deal would pass regulatory scrutiny.

People of color, particularly Black Americans, shouldn’t be surprised in the least by Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Although part of me feels like we shouldn’t be acting like we haven’t already survived, despite vicious attempts to destroy us, I can understand the shock. It’s the same thing as saying no matter how much one can prepare for death, you’re never really ready. We’ve been preparing for different forms of death for hundreds of years. And yet, here we are in fear, though our fears have morphed into realities time and time again through Jim Crow, lynchings, police brutality (which has...

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Some parents in Dorchester County are furious after nine students at Eagles Nest Elementary School were suspended for violating a school drug policy. The problem parents say is the children weren't caught with drugs. They were accused of having sugar mixed with Kool-Aid in their possession. ABC News 4 spoke with one parent Tuesday who said her child's infraction was reduced during an expulsion hearing at the district office. The child is now on a probationary status with the district and will be able to return to school Thursday.

You Can Be a Certified Duke Marxist. Think about that. No, this is not The Onion, a joke, nor a smear.James Buchanan “Buck†Duke was an industrialist icon; a man who made a fortune in tobacco and textiles. He was a true capitalist that feared God, inspired faith, and was a titan of industry. He funded several of America’s great educational institutions and was a philanthropist beyond measure, but his endowment is now responsible for a program that will certify the next generation of Marxists.- Let that sink in.According to a recent Duke Chronicle article, “Duke has long been known internationally...

Unlike our president-elect, I don’t know one Corinthian, but I am familiar with Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, and in recent days some of his words have whisked me back to my earliest years. “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”

“So when I walked into the plane I was like, ‘What is this?’ This is obviously from Allah,” Amer told BuzzFeed. “Allah is just trying to hook me up right now. That’s what’s happening.” Amer apparently hounded Trump with inane questions about his father’s proposal to protect Americans against radical Islamic terrorism. . . . Like other clueless people who oppose Trump’s policies, Mo Amer said he did not vote during this election.

Sheriff's investigators at the scene of the Oakland fire on Saturday. At least nine people are confirmed dead and several dozen are missing after a fire ripped through the the "Ghost Ship" warehouse in Oakland... As many as 100 people were crowded inside the warehouse for a party when the blaze erupted. They struggled to escape the flames and smoke. Officials fear dozens could have been killed. City records show that there were habitability complaints made against the property's owner as recently as November 14 regarding an "illegal interior building structure." City inspectors appear to have visited the building on...

What started out as a awkward conversation between 13-year-old Drew Breton and his mother about him being suspended from school for fighting, has turned into a viral video on social media giving millions a front row seat to bullying. His mother, 42-year-old Kimberly Breton said that until the video surfaced she was skeptical about what exactly happened. "He told me what happened the day before but then the next day he came home off the bus and said he was suspended," said Breton. Breton said the bullying incident initially took place on November 4th at Semmes Middle School in Mobile...

On Thursday, the mother of Somali-born Ohio State University student Abdul Razak Ali Artan said before his funeral that her son was killed for “no reason.” The 18-year-old Artan drove his car into a crowd, exited the vehicle and proceeded to attack nearby students with a butcher knife before being fatally shot by campus police officer Alan Horujko, who was the first to arrive on the scene. Artan was the only fatality in the attack, which left 11 people injured at the campus in Columbus, Ohio. Ahmed Sh. Ahmed, the director of the Ibn Taymia Mosque and Islamic Center where...

CNN’s Brian Stelter took his anti-Donald Trump bias to new heights Sunday during his show “Reliable Souses,” where he argued that the media had to start referring to the president-elect as an authoritarian. “I talk to international correspondents who say to you, ‘This is exactly what authoritarians do. This is what strongmen do. This is what happens in authoritarian regimes,’” he claimed, “I think we need to start using those words on TV, at least, to discuss the possibilities before us.” “What you do in an authoritarian regime is you delegitimize the press,” he continued, as he asked former Fortune...

The Russian-made jeep carrying the ashes of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro broke down in the middle of his funeral procession on Saturday, forcing soldiers to push the vehicle until it could be repaired. Nearly every major news website buried the news, though it was perfectly symbolic of the Cuban regime’s economic failures, and those of socialism in general.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has suffered a heavy defeat in a referendum over his plan to reform the constitution, exit polls suggest. An exit poll on state broadcaster RAI suggests 42-46% voted to back reform, compared with 54-58% voting No. Two other polls gave the No vote a similar lead of at least 10 points. Mr Renzi, who has said he would resign if he lost the vote, is due to make a statement at midnight (23:00 GMT) from his official residence in Rome. The referendum was regarded as a barometer of anti-establishment sentiment in Europe. The vote asked...

President-elect Trump's brief telephone call with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen drew a stronger reaction from the American mainstream media than it did from Beijing. The official China Daily entitled its editorial yesterday "No need to over-interpret Tsai-Trump phone call," writing: For Trump, it exposed nothing but his and his transition team's inexperience in dealing with foreign affairs. If he could make the unusual action due to lack of proper understanding of Sino-US relations and cross-Straits ties he will have to recognize the significance of prudently and appropriately addressing these sensitive issues after being inaugurated. Is Beijing just trying to put...

Musician and actor Nick Cannon slammed Planned Parenthood on Friday, calling its abortion practices “modern day eugenics.” Cannon was doubling down on recent comments he made saying the abortion giant was committing a “real genocide” against black Americans. “Hillary was sneaking and cheating,” Cannon said in an interview with New York’s radio show, The Breakfast Club. “Think about all the stuff they did with Planned Parenthood and all that type of stuff. That type of stuff is to take our community — and forget gentrification, it’s real genocide, and it’s been like that for years. This system is not built for us.” He...

It was incredibly humbling to recognise that I had something to do with why my marriage was failing and perhaps even why my first marriage failed. But it was also empowering. I didn't know I'd been disrespectful to my husband or even that I'd been controlling and critical.

An almost amusing sight at Fidel Castro's funeral procession: the car carrying his remains reportedly broke down and had to be pushed by soldiers. The vehicle was reportedly Russian-built. Pictures of the scene quickly spread on Twitter, with people calling it a "fitting metaphor" for the Castro regime: blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en">Look no further for Cuba metaphors - Fidel's final journey ends with a breakdown via @franciscome pic.twitter.com/kOjKSjMkVQ— Mark Urban (@MarkUrban01) December 4, 2016 How fitting: The jeep carrying Fidel Castro's ashes broke down and soldiers had to push it the rest of the way to the cemetery. #castrodeath pic.twitter.com/KodjTHWgRt— Tim...
