Senator Barack Obama spoke at the intersection of South 52nd St. and Locust St. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was one of four stops in he made in Pennsylvania that day. BHO's intro is 'Must-See-TV' for those of us with a bit of trepidation about this election.

Just a reminder that for those of you with TV or cable, (and even if you have it), C-SPAN streams its 3 TV channels and radio channel on the Internet. I'm watching McCain's speech in New Mexico today. It's awesome and I would have missed it if not for C-SPAN online. GO MCCAIN!

Has anyone from Free Republic ever gotten through to C-Span. They are supposedly taking live calls via different phone numbers for McCain supporters, Obama supporters, and Independents. I have called repeatedly during both debates and when I get a ring through to the McCain line there is about a five second pause and then I get a hang up. When I dial the line for supporters of Obama I not only feel temporarily stupid I always get a busy signal. I think the call ins are fixed. Go Sarah. It's Drill Baby Drill Joe

As you know, I call Washington, DC everyday (every weekday) and I even started to do a radio show each Friday to share with folks the responses that I get. This week I called Senator Obama's office about the Global Poverty Act, and all 23 of the cosponsors- some of them 2 and 3 times. Well, on Thursday, my focus changed. On Wednesday, the House of Representatives held a vote on weather or not they would stay and debate the energy issue, or go on their scheduled vacations. In this vote, 17 Democrats sided with ALL the Republicans and voted...

Pelosi shut down the House. CSPAN turned off the cameras. The Democrats went on vacation without allowing a vote on offshore drilling. So the Republicans stayed, invited the American people into the People’s House, and blasted away on Friday night. Nice job fellas.

This is a TV-headsup...set your DVRs for midnight EASTERN 8-4-08... (that's when Sunday turns into Monday!). I watched the first airing of this long interview (approx. 3 hours) of Col. Ralph Peters (US Army, ret.) at 11AM Eastern today. I recommend it for anyone interested in The War on Terror, military intelligence, history, politics, the US military and the craft of writing. I will post the BookTV summation of the show in a soon-to-follow post on this thread.

<p>And for this August 1, I figured something bizarre might be afoot. Especially on the floor of the House of Representatives.</p>
<p>Every morning, I check-in with Sarah Santer, the morning assignment editor in FOX’s Washington bureau.</p>
<p>I warned her: be on guard. Prepare to deploy crews around Capitol Hill. Congress was leaving town today for the five-week August recess.</p>

<p>I just called and said "There's a Republican revolt going on int the House Chamber and I wasn't seeing much coverage of it." I got a run around on it. Was told several times "There are no cameras on now. Cameras are not allowed." I objected, politely, that the story could still be covered.</p>

Let me get one thing out there, before this column gets ugly (as it most definitely will). I believe Barack Obama will win in November. Republicans, after all, are facing a horror show: stratospheric gas prices, 401K accounts that have joined Jenny Craig, increasing numbers of casualties in Afghanistan, escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, and a situation in Iraq that oscillates between suicide bombings and periods of relative calm. But an Obama victory may not be quite the harbinger of change that so many of his supporters hope. Let me offer as Exhibit A - and, believe me,...

Bush, claiming that the president set out to deceive the nation, and violated his oath of office with the Iraq war. Addressing the House of Representatives on Monday evening, the Ohio congressman and former presidential candidate accused the administration of a number of offenses, including lying to Congress and the public about its reasons for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Party of Defeat: How Democrats and Radicals Undermined America's War on Terror Before and After 9-11 By David Horowitz and Ben Johnson FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, April 11, 2008 The following [link] is the introduction from the new book Party of Defeat by David Horowitz and Ben Johnson. The introduction lays out the book's thesis: that the opposition to the war in Iraq has crossed a troubling boundary. For the first time, a large number of national leaders have not merely opposed a war; that would be their inalienable right under the U.S. Constitution. Instead, they have actively sabotaged an ongoing...

This must be conservative month on C-Span2's Book TV. Author and Catholic theologian George Weigel was today's guest on In Depth, the three hour interview program during which he discussed his books and took questions from viewers. He has written on the life of Pope Paul II as well as the gay-priest acandal and the morality of the Iraq War. Among other topics he discussed the war at length, saying that it was and still is morally defensible and that there is simply no justification for us to back away from it now. He also took a swipe at those...

Brian Lamb was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bush on November 5th. The last time Lamb appeared on a live C-SPAN show was November 30th. This was the last of 13 weekly shows on presidential libraries so his appearance was expected. His voice sounded very bad as if something was wrong with his throat and a caller commented on his "cold", but if it was a cold it was very bad one indeed. He normally hosts Washington Journal on Friday mornings. He has now missed 8 of these shows. Last Friday he was on a recorded Q&A...

Steve Scully: This is a political question in terms of how he gets the nomination, but just from what you have seen, how much support do you think he has among the base of the Republican Party? Scully: So can he then go on and become the nominee of this party? McCain: Yes, I think holding their nose they’re going to have to take him. Scully: Can you explain? McCain:...

With the exception of the collective body of men and women who wear or have worn America's military uniforms, we are hard-pressed to identify a single organization that has contributed more than C-SPAN during the past quarter century to the appreciation, understanding, enhancement and defense of the fundamental governing institutions that form the foundation of the American republic. So, we weren't surprised when President Bush selected C-SPAN's founding chairman and CEO, Brian Lamb, to be a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian award for distinguished Americans...

Cashill, author of several books including "Hoodwinked" and "Suckerpunch", says the left was shocked and terrified when the Republicans won the Congress in 1994 and intensified their efforts to make sure the press covered only those elements of important issues which they wanted the public to know. He believes many major stories of the past few years have been misportrayed and it would take "only three phone calls" by reputable reporters to correct how the stories were presented. Using his latest book, "What's Wrong with California", as a takeoff point he touches on what he says are the latest findings...
