Phyllis Schlafly, the St. Louis-born American intellectual who grew from a shy and beautiful girl to become one of the most influential political activists of the 20th and 21st century, died today, Monday, September 5, 2016 according to Eagle Forum. Schlafly has written or co-written more than 20 books, on military policy, education, legal and social issues. Her first book, “A Choice, Not an Echo,” is credited with winning Barry Goldwater the Republican nomination for president and inspiring the conservative movement that eventually led to Ronald Reagan’s presidency. Her military work was a major factor in Reagan's’ decision to proceed...

Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly passed away on Monday. She was 92. Schlafly, the founder of Eagle Forum, rose to prominence in the 1960s when she wrote the book A Choice, Not an Echo, which sold more than three million copies. She was a leading voice of opposition against the Equal Rights Amendment, fighting to preserve traditional gender roles. She wrote a total of 23 books, the most recent being an expanded edition of A Choice, Not an Echo. In March, Schlafly endorsed Donald Trump for president. Schafly was predeceased by her husband, John, and is survived by her six children.

When former Bush chief speechwriter Michael Gerson wrote a column for The Washington Post headlined “Cancel this reality show,” it sounded like just another anti-Trump column. Or is Gerson calling for a shutdown of conservative talk radio? It's understandable that establishment Republicans would despise the dynamic of conservative radio talkers trying to yank party leaders to the right. But shutting them down? Does that sound like reasonable moderation?

Despite conservatives’ perceptions, conservative media exists in a small, ineffectual bubble. One of the more interesting developments since the emergence of the Web as a mass medium is the establishment of a conservative media presence. Prior to the Internet, there were basically no large-audience right-wing media operations aside from a few talk-radio programs. Since the 1996 establishment of Fox News and the popularization of the Web, it has now become possible for a conservatively inclined people to consume all kinds of news and opinion catering to their specific tastes and viewpoints. Many right-leaning people have hailed this development, believing that...

I was reading about how Phyllis Shlafly has attended every Republican Convention since 1952. In 1952, the conservative candidate was Sen. Robert Taft of Ohio, who was a bitter opponent of FDR's big government policies. Shlafly supported him. The establishment candidate was Gen. Eisenhower. But who was the first prominent American conservative activist? My vote would be for Albert Jay Nock (1870-1945), who led a national intellectual movement opposed to Woodrow Wilson's big government policies. He also opposed World War One. Before Wilson came into office in 1913, America did not have an income tax. It was, therefore, not necessary...

Commentators in major national newspapers in Scotland are aghast. A 100-member youth choir from a Southern Baptist church in Plano, Texas gave a free concert at a shopping center in Edinburgh. The journalists compared this event to Nazi or ISIS propaganda. One asserted: “as a nation we should be stating clearly: bigots are not welcome here.” Scotland is the land of John Knox, the great Scotts reformer (1513–72), and of the young, deeply spiritual Robert Murray McCheyne (1813–43) who declared: “The Christian is a person who makes it easy for others to believe in God.” Now Scotland is a land...

No, I do not believe Trump's choice will be Gov. Pence of Indiana. Nor Newt, nor Christie -- not even a man. Yes, I do believe the proposed VP will be a woman. I suspect that Trump's VP running mate will be ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Why? Well, she is a natural born citizen, a real conservative, and she is ferocious contra liberals/progressives. In addition, she isn't on the list of speakers for the Cleveland Convention and she has been silent of late. She has had lots of experience in dealing with those demons from Hell (the MSM) and her...

Andrea Leadsom has pulled out of the contest to become the next Conservative Party leader and UK PM - with Theresa May now set to succeed David Cameron. Mrs Leadsom said she did not believe she had sufficient support to lead a "strong and stable government". She also said a nine-week leadership campaign at such a "critical time" for the UK would be "highly undesirable". The energy minister said Mrs May was "ideally placed" to implement Brexit, and wished her the "greatest success". A source close to the energy minister told BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg "the abuse has been...

But President Donald Trump will be worse than that? Snap out of it, you sanctimonious snobs This column is for the pearl-clutchers at National Review, Beltway Blowhards George Will, Charles Krauthammer, et al, Billy Kristol and his #NeverTrump choristers, “Mittens” Romney and the similarly loathsome leaders of the GOPe, aka Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell: just who in the world do you think you are? There were 17—count ‘em 17—candidates vying for the GOP presidential nomination. And due to a series of factors, including a lack of preparation, a lack of charisma, a lack of ideological bona fides and/or the...

The Western Conservative Summit, organized by the Centennial Institute of Colorado Christian University, convened this weekend, with luminaries speaking including prospective GOP nominee Donald Trump, Senators Ben Sasse and Tom Cotton, former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, TV star Phil Robertson, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, radio hosts Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt, and Erick Erickson, and Daily Wire Editor-in Chief Ben Shapiro. The video of Shapiro's previous appearance at the summit two years ago is the most widely-viewed video of any speech ever given at the summit, and this time was no different; of all the speeches given, Shapiro's speech was...

Attention-seeker 'Christian" conservative radio host Steve Duece wants to take on Donald Trump, and he's serious. NOTE: By the way, I purposely mean to misspell this creep's name throughout this piece. This "Christian conservative," that's what he calls himself, yelled names, berated and lied on the presumptive GOP nominee and then called out Trump for doing what he had just done. Duece has been trying bait Trump into a back and forth but he's a nobody. Deace has been trying to gain the limelight on liberal stations, and as you can see, he's atrocious at what he does. Deuce is a bully...

Standing in former Speaker John Boehner’s empty and cavernous Longworth office, Ohio’s newest congressman seems out of place. Maybe that’s because Warren Davidson is more of a business and military man than a politician. Before being sworn in last week, Davidson made a career parachuting from airplanes as an Army Ranger, then filing patents as a manufacturing entrepreneur. Other than a short stint as a township trustee, he’s never held elected office until now. But what Davidson lacks in political acumen, he’s confident he can replace with leadership experience. His operating doctrine is simple, he tells The Daily Signal: “Fight...

...The women of the Right are allowed to believe things that the women of the Left are not. They are allowed to believe there is a difference between women and men, female and male, and that those differences are real, not a false cultural construct imposed by a self-interested, manipulative patriarchy. Unlike Gloria Steinem, they can express their femininity in any way they choose to, without fear of being accused of a calumnization of the sisterhood. Even more, women of the Right are allowed to accept obvious things rather than engage in exhausting psychic gymnastics to get to a place...

I seem to have been writing articles about conservatism all my life. Not quite, but almost. The first such article for which I was paid appeared in print in 1969 in the Swinton Journal (which, not at all coincidentally, was the first magazine I ever edited.) The article had the uninviting title “The Direction of Conservatism,” and init I advocated educational vouchers, road pricing, flexible exchange rates, and many other good things from the handbook of classical liberalism.

Corrected version with paragraphs I’ll say it again. We must take over the MSM. Not Limbaugh, not Beck, not Levin. I mean CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, NY Times and all major newspapers. All major radio networks. By “take over” I mean an “all of the above” approach. Buy them, own them, own majority or controlling stock positions in them. Infiltrate them. In the boardroom and in the cubicles. Populate their staffs, reporters, advertisers, customers, associates, friends, colleagues, with far right or right leaning individuals and entities. The exact OPPOSITE of this George W. Bush conservative type who withdrew from...
