You can see some classic handguns that were turned in in the picture above. A 1911 type with what an early green Teflon type finish. It is probably worth about $500. The finish was a custom job popular in the 1980's and later. There are two classic Colt revolvers that seem to be in excellent condition. One is a Detective Special, the other, an early Officers Model. They are worth about $600 and $1,200 respectively, far more than the $100 gift card that was received. It is hard to say what other treasures there might be under the jumble of...

A disabled U.S. Navy veteran in Glendale, Arizona, is “devastated” after he says police confiscated 28 of his guns, valued at over $25,000, after a neighbor made “false” allegations that he threatened him. Rick Bailey, a 56-year-old retired software systems engineer, told TheBlaze on Tuesday that he and his neighbor were engaged in a months-long dispute over his landscaping company. He said his neighbor would park two large, smelly “dump trucks” used for his business and other vehicles in the small cul-de-sac where they live. Bailey said he eventually filed a complaint with the city and the neighbor was ordered...

We understand that Nancy Pelosi is married to a very successful businessman in California. We are very happy that the Pelosi family has enjoyed the fruits of capitalism. Of course, they've enjoyed those fruits because they live in a country that respects property rights and does not confiscate businesses. This week, Rep Pelosi went to Cuba and stayed at the Hotel Saratoga. Let me share this from our good friends at Capitol Hill Cubans: "The Hotel Saratoga is a beautiful neoclassical structure in Old Havana. It was purchased in 1939 by Blanco Lopez and Co., headed by Jose Blanco and...

Hundreds of Vermonters on Tuesday night debated proposed legislation that would expand background checks for gun buyers and impose other new firearms restrictions. At a packed Statehouse, the Senate Judiciary and Health and Welfare Committee heard testimony from supporters and opponents of the legislation, though opponents in the hall and nearby rooms where video was piped in easily outnumbered supporters. Several opponents pointed to Vermont’s rank in FBI statistics as the safest state in the country. They argued that Senate Bill 31 isn’t needed. “If I’m being assaulted on a city street, I’d rather have a .38 on me than...

During her confirmation hearings last week, Loretta Lynch, President Obama's choice to succeed Eric Holder as attorney general, called civil forfeiture, a form of legalized theft in which the government takes people's property without accusing them of a crime, "a wonderful tool." Lynch, currently the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, suggested that innocent owners need not worry about getting hammered by this tool, because forfeiture "is done pursuant to supervision by a court," and "the protections are there." In light of a forfeiture case that Lynch's office had abruptly dropped the previous week, her assurances rang...

You were considered a hoarder and a slacker if you still resisted turning over your gold to the government. ... most of those who voted for FDR never expected him to confiscate private holdings of gold coins, bullion, and certificates. Roosevelt called the measure a temporary one (it wasn’t), and he followed it up by invalidating gold clauses in private contracts that obligated payment in gold dollars, which had the effect of devaluing the assets of bond and contract holders. ... By January 1934, Roosevelt increased the dollar price of gold from $20.67 to $35, thus devaluing the dollar by...

Under the "Safe Act" New York State can confiscate guns without any notice or appeal process, according to this article. From wwnytv.com: They then file a report, which in Jefferson County is sent to county Community Services. "We review it, confirm that the license is indeed appropriate and that the case meets the criteria of the SAFE Act," said Director of Jefferson County Community Services Roger Ambrose. Once they've verified the report, it's sent to Albany. From there, State Police find out if the person identified has a gun permit. If he or she does, police present their findings...

Guns seized decades after implementation of firearms law in Britain It has been a common tactic of disarmists, statists, leftists or whatever name you wish to apply to those who desire the concentration of power, to incrementally acrete more and more power to the government. The founding fathers of the American republic knew that there was a natural tendency to do this, as laws, once passed, are extremely difficult to repeal. One of the reasons this is so is that it is easy for authorities to simply not enforce unpopular laws. This removes the incentive to repeal them, but...

Guns Hidden from the Government and Confiscated in Wales The exemplar for restrictive firearms regulation in the United States has been England and Wales. Some have argued that it was NAZI Germany, but though the 1968 Gun Control Act borrowed heavily from NAZI law, the country and laws that most have referred to has been England. Wales shares the same laws and Supreme Court as England. Interestingly, before the British passed their own restrictive firearms laws, the most restrictive law in the Anglosphere was the one passed in New York City, the infamous Sullivan law of 1911. The first...

Robert Lintner, 64 was seen holding his wife outside his home and calling for neighbors to call police. He had been stabbed in the neck by his wife in a domestic dispute. His wife is 65. She was arrested, and he was treated and released. Then it gets interesting. Remember, this is New Jersey, where the government says that you have no rights to weapons, only what the state allows you. From nj.com: Following standard protocol, officers responding to the domestic incident tried to secure any weapons in the house, the chief said. When Lintner would not...

The image above is tantalizing and frustrating in its scope and lack of resolution. In writing articles about the great Australian gun confiscation of 1997, I have not found any images that I can easily use. I found an AP source, but they are very careful with copyright protection. I am sure that there are images of the destruction that are publicly available, but I am having a hard time finding them. If you have better luck, please contact me. I would appreciate images that give the scale of the destruction and are clear enough to show details of...

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Tuesday that President BarackObama is “always” looking for opportunities to act “unilaterally” again on guns, though he would prefer to work with Congress. “The president’s goal is to look for opportunities to act administratively, unilaterally using his executive authority to try to make our communities safer,” Earnest said, responding to a question the day that a gunman opened fire at an Oregon high school, killing one student and injuring a teacher. “We’re always looking for those opportunities. But none of those opportunities when they present themselves is going to be an acceptable substitute for...

After more than 30 years in law enforcement, Mark Donka says he can’t remember a single instance in which a firearm was involved in a domestic dispute. And the statistics mirror Donka’s experience: gun crime is rare in Vermont. But that hasn’t stopped an on-going effort in Montpelier to confiscate guns from alleged domestic abusers. To hear the Vermont Network Against Domestic & Sexual Violence tell it, Vermont’s domestic violence problem has become so serious the time has come for police to confiscate weapons from alleged domestic abusers. The group is the chief proponent of H.735, a “must pass” fees...

Submitted by Simon Black of Sovereign Man blog, It was almost exactly one year ago to the day that an entire nation was frozen out of its savings… overnight. Cypriots went to bed on Friday thinking everything was fine. By the next morning, they had no way to pay bills or buy food. It’s certainly a chilling reminder of how quickly things can change. And why. The entire crisis sprang from a mountain of debt. The government had accumulated too much debt. The banking system had accumulated too much debt. And banks had lost a lot of their customers’ money...

There have been reports that Navy veteran John Cinque has been receiving threats because of his stance on the issue of Connecticut's gun registration law. Apparently those reports are due to a misreading of a piece by the New Haven Register in which Cinque said, "There have been threats made — that I found out about today." Freedom Outpost reached out to John Cinque, who spoke with us this morning and confirmed that the threats he was speaking about were towards the Branford Police, not towards him. "The cops are having the threats…. they are scared," he told us. According...

Last weekend, I reported on Connecticut John Cinque's 2013 warning to lawmakers that he would not comply with their attempts to force the citizens of Connecticut to register their semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines. Since that time, the video, though a year old, has gone viral. However, in a recent video between Mr. Cinque and Connecticut gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti, Cinque reveals that a Branford, Connecticut police officer told him, "I Cannot Wait to Get the Order to Kick Your Door In." (VIDEO-AT-LINK)View the video in its entirety here. Cinque was explaining last year's account to Visconti. Specifically he...

A satire article with an appropriate measure of truth is going viral on the Internet. "Connecticut halts plans to round up firearms after finding most cops in the state are on the list" is a satire posted on callthecops.net four days ago on March 4th. At the bottom of the page, discreetly posted, is this disclaimer: This site is a satire of the current state of Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting and Emergency Medical work. Stories posted here are not real and you should not assume them to have any basis in any real fact. The article was emailed to...

The State of Connecticut says that all citizens must register rifles and high capacity magazines, or be charged will a felony. As many as 100,000 people could face heavily armed police smashing down their doors and be charged with a felony. The legislature of CT says that a registration is needed so they can know where the guns are. Yet at the same time, they are sending threatening letters to gun owners. So they already have records of who has purchased certain guns. The fact is, that the CT legislature fully intends to confiscate hundreds of thousands of firearms anyway......
