In May 2021, 56 percent of Russians polled by the independent Levada Center agreed that Stalin was a “great leader” — double the figure in 2016, when the Stalinization of mass consciousness had already been a clear trend for several years. To people outside of Russia, it might seem deeply shocking and incomprehensible that Stalin’s popularity is growing at such a pace. Yet it is an entirely natural consequence of the policy advanced and sponsored by the Russian state of historical amnesia. Attitudes to Stalin in Russia are intrinsically tied to the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II, over...

The U.S. Navy has removed a training document that appeared to conflate socialists with terrorists, following The Intercept’s publication of that document on June 22. “The course manager directed the immediate removal of the ‘Training Guide / Assignment Sheet 2-1-2 / Introduction to Terrorism/Terrorist Operations’ on June 23, and the command is conducting a focused review on terrorism-related curriculum to ensure we don’t have unintended messaging,” said Dave Hecht, a spokesperson for the chief of Navy personnel. A second department official not authorized to speak publicly confirmed that the document had been removed from training manuals. The document included a...

Hong Kong action movie superstar Jackie Chan said he wanted to join the Communist Party of China (CPC) at a recent forum in Beijing, a comment that experts said reflected Hong Kong elites' increasingly objective and rational understanding of the CPC amid the city's reflection on its position and search for its future development. Chan joined a symposium on Thursday in Beijing, which invited Chinese film insiders to speak and share their thoughts regarding the keynote speech delivered by the top Chinese leader on July 1, the centennial of the founding of the CPC. At the event, Chan, also the...

American pride resonates with most segments of the population, though not with young adults, according to a new poll. Only 36% of respondents aged 18 to 24 said they were very or extremely proud to be American, a new Issues & Insights/TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics survey found. That made the age group the only tracked demographic in which pride falls below 50%. The poll found an almost identical percentage (35%) of the 18-24 group saying they are only slightly or not proud at all to be an American.

Findings from a new North Dakota State University survey reveal that the majority of students identifying as liberal or liberal-leaning are not proud of America. In response to the question “Are you proud to be American?” 57 percent of liberal identifying students answered ‘no’. This is in contrast to the 73 percent majority of conservatives who answered ‘yes’ to the same question. This response was generated from a nationwide survey which asked over 400,000 students from more than 1,000 American college campuses questions about their feelings on a number of social and political issues. NDSU publicly announced the survey on...

A senior NASA scientist has been sentenced to 30 days in prison, months after he pleaded guilty to lying about his ties to a program backed by the Chinese regime designed to harvest talents from the West and transfer intellectual property to China. Meyya Meyyappan, 66, of Pacifica, California, was sentenced on June 16 for making false statements to the FBI, NASA’s Office of Inspector General, and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the Justice Department announced in a news release. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $100,000. Meyyappan joined NASA in 1996...

Former U.S. President Barack Obama in an interview for CNN's Anderson Cooper shared his thoughts, among other things, on the global crisis of democracy. "All of us as citizens have to recognize that the path towards an undemocratic America is not gonna happen in just one bang. It happens in a series of steps" - said the former president. "And when you look what's happened in places like Hungary and Poland, that obviously did not have the same democratic traditions as we did, they weren't as deeply rooted, and yet as recently as 10 years ago were functioning democracies, now...

President Trump wanted to haul Dr. Anthony Fauci in front of a presidential commission to give evidence about funding the Wuhan laboratory suspected of leaking COVID-19. Advanced plans were underway for the special presidential panel, with an executive order even drawn up to hold China and its collaborators accountable and tally a reparations bill to fire off to Beijing. Trump’s senior advisers talked him out of the idea as it was about to be announced, according to insider accounts detailed in a soon-to-be-released book on the origins of COVID-19, “What Really Happened in Wuhan.” In another bombshell revelation from the...

China on Friday issued a rare acknowledgement of the landmark massacre at Tiananmen Square 32 years ago, saying it successfully "aborted" an attempted revolution akin to uprisings in Eastern Europe and that it has been vindicated by its subsequent economic progress. "More than three decades have passed by. Facts speak louder than words," read an op-ed in the state-run English-language Global Times, considered a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party. The brazen statements represent an escalation in how Beijing acknowledges its history of violent crackdowns against civil dissent. And they provide an indication that fears the country's communist leaders previously...

The World Health Organization is convening eleven "leading" figures in economics, health and development from around the world as the first members of the WHO Council on the Economics of Health For All. This is an extremely dangerous development. Remember the WHO played a lead role in advising globally on the lockdowns that occurred as a result of a virus, COVID-19, that is not a serious threat to over 99% of the population. Now they appear to want to expand their authoritarian reach with a group of "experts" that are extremely radical leftists. The chairwoman of the all-female group is...

To produce some viruses for study, in the hope of eradicating them, scientists use monkey kidney cells. It’s the perfect environment for them to replicate; to grow. For the virus that is progressivism, the media is the monkey kidneys, and to eliminate the threat that this left-wing sibling of communism, socialism, and fascism poses to the world, that delivery device needs to be destroyed. The profession, or at least what it used to be and is supposed to be, is important to the country. People need to know what is happening in their world. But what we have now is...

Patrisse Cullors is a co-founder of Blacks Lives Matter. About her background, she said in 2015: "The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia (Garza, BLM co-founder) in particular are trained organizers." Cullors also said: "We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk." Cullors, the self-described "trained Marxist," appears to be doing quite well for herself. Last year, she signed a major Hollywood production...

By Dr. Peter Jones The Phrase “Cancel Culture” “Cancel culture” came into the collective consciousness around 2017, after the idea of "canceling" celebrities for problematic actions or statements became popular.[1] American institutions and corporations now engage in censorship that was previously unimaginable, piling on critiques of a person, business, movement, or idea. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other Big Tech giants conduct coordinated censorship efforts, silencing important voices and shutting down civic dialogue. Former President Donald Trump is still banned from Twitter and other social media platforms, as are other prominent conservatives. Says The Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan, “Cancel culture...

“They Are Giving Hemingway Another Look, So You Can, Too…Lynn Novick and Ken Burns consider the seminal writer in all his complexity and controversy in their new PBS documentary series. Could there be anything more subversive than turning a spotlight, in this moment, on Ernest Hemingway?” wrote Gal Beckerman in the The New York Times this month.“Subversive?” Ah! At least the term appears in connection with the docuseries. And considering that Ernest Hemingway eagerly joined Stalin’s KGB (technically the NKVD at the time), secretly contributed tens of thousands to the Cuban communist party and (literally) drank, as a spectator, to...

Turmoil seems to be the daily goal of certain persons in the political class and much of the media. We have for a while been jolted from one alleged existential crisis to the next. Apparently on purpose, we are triggered by partial explanations and depictions to feel something as an emotion they have predetermined on our behalf, not provided information for thoughtful consideration of complicated issues. Cui bono? Who benefits from triggering pre-selected emotional and not rational thought? On a now daily basis, all manner of people pour over our southern border and are then exported throughout the country. There...

About 80 New Hampshire businesses and other organizations are seeking to block a bill that would ban public schools and other entities from teaching that America is a fundamentally racist nation, warning the measure would be bad for business in the state. The coalition sent a letter to Gov. Chris Sununu (R) and lawmakers, stating the bill would “have a chilling impact on our workplaces and on the business climate in New Hampshire,” reported New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR), which further noted the letter warned the measure, “would not only harm the ability of New Hampshire businesses to be competitive,...
