Alabama hired former Southern California coach Lane Kiffin on Friday as its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Kiffin returns to the Southeastern Conference after head coaching stints with the NFL's Oakland Raiders, Alabama rival Tennessee and the Trojans. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has won the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Winston is only the second redshirt freshman to win the award after Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was handed the trophy as a redshirt freshman last year. While it sounded as if Meggs found the accuser ) to be generally believable, gaps in her memory coupled with the discovery of another man's (apparently the complainant's boyfriend) DNA meant the standard for charging and prosecuting Winston was not met. Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs said Wednesday that he plans to reveal the results of his office’s investigation into the alleged sexual assault case involving Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston at a press conference at 2 p.m. Thursday. An alleged victim said that Winston raped her last December, while Winston’s attorney said the sex was consensual. The alleged victim’s family released a statement two weeks ago questioning the investigation.

UCLA coach Jim Mora has signed a new six-year contract to stay with the program, the school announced Tuesday. Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com first reported that Mora would stay with the school. Mora had been connected with Washington’s head coaching opening since UW coach Steve Sarkisian was hired as USC’s newest coach on Monday. Mora is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he played football and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant.
