Florida coach Will Muschamp reportedly switching to up-tempo offense in 2014
Sports Illustrated ^ | December 03, 2013 | Martin Rickman

With coordinator Brent Pease out at Florida, expect the next guy handling Will Muschamp’s offense to shake things up a bit. With the personnel Florida had this year — coupled with injuries all over the field — the Gators struggled mightily to score. They averaged 18.8 points per game, tied for 111th nationally.

It’s still yet to be seen what direction Florida will go in offensively, but coaches will often say and try anything in order to retain their jobs. Though Muschamp has received the repeated backing of athletic director Jeremy Foley, he still must work to keep recruits in the fold as he tries to recover from a disastrous 4-8 campaign in which Gators dropped their last seven contests, including a 26-20 loss to FCS Georgia Southern on Nov. 23.

Nobody is going to come to UF to get on the sinking ship that is the USS Muschamp.

His only option will be to promote Joker Phillips to OC.

Ok UK fans, you can start laughing now.

Is the “Fire Ron Zook” site still up? Just needs updating.

LOL, it's more likely to be "Hire Ron Zook" these days.

It will be tough to turn the ship around at this point. The honorable thing would have been seppuku after the GaSo game.

The offense is the least of their problems.

Idiot Foley signed him to an extension last year so his buyout is $8 million.

There is no excuse for losing at Florida. I saw somewhere a few weeks ago that Florida has the highest percentage of it’s high school players sign football scholarships than any other state.

I think Texas has the most but no other state is even close to Florida percentage wise. UF should get the cream of the crop.

The type of offense isn’t the problem...If the O-Line sucks, it doesn’t matter what kind of offense you run.

Well because of The Liar and his “heart condition”, FSU moved in and started cleaning up recruiting-wise. We owned the state before that.

I’m glad he’s decided to not be 111th in scoring next year.

I’m completely satisfied with Muschamp now. /s

Unfortunately for you, he will be doing this at UF instead of Santa Fe College.

I had to wonder...

With all the injuries this year, was it just bad coincidence or is there something wrong with the program that is causing the kids to get hurt? Unorthodox moves putting strain on the bodies, too rigorous a workout schedule that is wearing out their bodies? No flouride in the water anymore? Bad Gatorade?

I think Muschamp had a lot to do with the excessive injuries, he wants them to be a power football team, but they don’t have the athletes for it.

A good coach needs to do the best with what he has, and all Muschamp tries to do is to put square pegs into round holes.

I agree with you as a Vol fan with lots of family in Alachua County.

Can’t say much though - the Vols were brutal this season too. Both teams were hard to watch and I am not sold on either coach.

Yep, I definitely miss the old days of Fulmer vs Spurrier, it was a great rivalry then.

If Fulmer had kept a bit of fire and gotten rid of the dead-weight on his staff, he would still be posting wins in Knoxville.

Spurrier was one helluva coach when he was at UF and he is still a great play caller. Lord knows, Fulmer/Chavis never seemed to figure out that passing game.

The good old days!

They should could have used Cutcliffe. Ironic both he and Spurrier were successful at Duke.
