Donald Trump is the most unpopular president-elect in recent history, according to a new Gallup poll. Just 44 percent of Americans approve of his incoming administration, compared with 51 percent who disapprove, the survey found. Trump is far less popular than President Barack Obama was when he was elected in 2008 on a message of hope and change. Then, 83 percent of Americans approved of the transition. And Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, also got more love than Trump. Bush enjoyed support from a 61 percent of Americans as he entered the White House. Americans' concerns with Trump are partly...

Comedian and former talk-show host Rosie O'Donnell has a new idea for preventing President-elect Donald Trump from taking office — martial law. Hollywood hand-wringing over Mr. Trump’s Election Day victory was taken to a new level Wednesday night when Ms. O’Donnell told over 900,000 followers that she “fully” supported the imposition of martial law prior to Jan. 20. “I fully support imposing martial law — delaying the inauguration — until Trump is ‘cleared’ of all charges,” Ms. O’Donnell, who formerly co-hosted “The View” with Barbara Walters, tweeted.http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jan/12/rosie-odonnell-calls-for-imposing-martial-law-to-s/

Interesting, albeit snarkily constructed, article in Politico today highlighting the ‘rag tag bunch of media outsiders’ within Right Side Broadcast Network (RSBN) and their endeavors toward covering the Trump administration. RSBN is able to continue operating due to viewer donations and contributions toward the business objective of raw, direct and full coverage, and they were intensely valuable in the 18 month long presidential campaign. A solid group of people. (Via Politico) […] The RSBN operation, which now employs 14 full-time employees and three contractors, began in July 2015, when Seales, a stay-at-home father at the time, grew frustrated with the...

Armstrong Williams op-ed: Dems, not Jeff Sessions, have the real race problem © Getty It is an unfortunate truth that Democrats are not the examples of diversity and inclusion as much as they claim. They portray themselves as the righteous warriors of truth and conviction, and they actually believe this “truth” to be self-evident. But we must all ask ourselves, particularly as they take the moral high ground while launching a thousand ships of claims of racism against Senator Jeff Sessions, are they truly demi-gods of morality or just puppeteers attempting to pull all of our string? It's the latter,...

Leading MVP candidate Matt Ryan riddled Seattle's secondary for 338 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Atlanta Falcons to a convincing 36-20 victory over the Seahawks in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Here's what we learned in Saturday's game: After both teams traded clinical opening-drive touchdowns that spilled over to the second quarter, a holding penalty on special teamer Kevin Pierre-Louis swung the game in Atlanta's favor. Devin Hester's 80-yard punt return would have set the Seahawks up at the seven-yard line with a chance to take a commanding 17-7 lead. Instead, Seattle lost 84 yards of field position,...

At Tomorrow's Harvest farm, you won't find acres of land on which animals graze, or rows of corn, or bales of hay. Just stacks of boxes in a basement and the summery song of thousands of chirping crickets. It's one of a growing number of operations raising crickets for human consumption that these farmers say is more ecologically sound than meat but acknowledge is sure to bug some people out. Once consumers get beyond the ick factor, they say, there are a lot of benefits to consuming bugs.

Zhou Youguang, the inventor of a system to convert Chinese characters into words with the Roman alphabet, died Saturday at the age of 111. Since his system was introduced nearly six decades ago, few innovations have done more to boost literacy rates in China and bridge the divide between the country and the West. Pinyin, which was adopted by China in 1958, gave readers unfamiliar with Chinese characters a crucial tool to understand how to pronounce them. These characters do not readily disclose information on how to say them aloud — but with such a system as Pinyin, those characters...

Last summer (July, I think), I post "Proud Papa Alert" to tell people that my son had decided to enlist in the US Marines. Several current and former military personnel chastised me, saying he was not really a US Marine until he got through basic training. Well, he did. He graduated yesterday, Friday January 13, 2017 under both a full moon and a beautiful sunny sky at Parris Island, USMCRD. This his platoon out on the parade field during graduation. His was one of 8 graduating platoons, comprising some 700 brand new US Marines. Here he is with his little...

Some Chargers fans were so dedicated to the team that along with wearing Bolts gear, they also sport tattoos inspired by the NFL team. But with the team deciding to move from San Diego to Los Angeles for the 2017 season, many San Diego residents are now calling themselves "former" fans. When the team announced its big move Thursday, some angry fans threw away their jerseys in a growing pile outside of Chargers Park Thursday. One person was even arrested for setting their jersey on fire. Other former fans are now taking their Chargers' gear to the Sports Arena to...

Dozens of dogs greeted visitors at a local brewery Friday after they were rescued from an illegal meat trade in Thailand. The event, called Suds for Soi Dogs was held at Mission Brewery featuring 17 of 30 dogs recently rescued and brought to the United States. Perhaps, like me, you use that drawer located underneath your stove for storing pans, cookie sheets, and muffin tins. Unfortunately, we've all been doing it wrong, according to the good people who manufacture stoves. While it does serve as a great spot for all of your back-up cooking tools, it's actually meant to be a warming drawer. You may notice a message printed on the inside of the drawer or in some sort of owner's manual that says something like this: "The warming drawer is designed to keep hot foods at serving temperature. Always start with hot food. Cold or...
