Donald Trump has rented space at an Urbandale movie theater and will give Iowans free tickets to a showing of the Benghazi movie that critics of Hillary Clinton have been eagerly awaiting. “Mr. Trump would like all Americans to know the truth about what happened at Benghazi,” the GOP presidential candidate’s Iowa co-chair Tana Goertz said Thursday night. Trump will pay for the showing of “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” at 6 p.m. Friday at the Carmike Cobblestone 9 Theatre at 86th Street and Hickman Road, Goertz said. “The theater is paid for. The tickets are paid for....

Sundance at The Conservative Tree House has written posts commenting on Ted Cruz's proselytizing as an electoral campaign strategy. Freepers have seen at least a couple of examples of this strategy recently, with threads being posted about Cruz calling on supporters to "don the full armor of God" to resist "incoming attacks" (presumably from dark forces!), or that the "Body of Christ" must be energized to gain the victory. This type of rhetoric is also heavily prominent in his campaign fund raising. One of the more epic and cringe inducing examples comes from an apparent leak by the Cruz campaign...
  • Donald Trump Still Leads the GOP Field. Leads with Evangelicals and women

Trump leads among men with 39% of support, compared to 21% of men who support Cruz and 13% of men who support Rubio. Trump also leads among women with 29% support, while Cruz and Rubio have about equal support from women—13% and 14%, respectively. Perhaps surprisingly, Trump also has the highest support among white evangelical voters—33%. Although Ben Carson did fairly well among white evangelicals (12%), the group heavily favored Trump. Cruz also did well with white evangelicals, with 2 in 10 supporting him.

Fighting against an entrenched Washington D.C. Establishment that refuses to give up the perks and power they feel entitled to and will use any means available to hang onto The similarities between Donald Trump and the Tea Party movement are blazingly obvious. Perhaps that is why the Washington D.C. Establishment and its pundits either cannot make the connection or refuse to acknowledge it all together. It is not as if there is a lack of information out there for the Establishment political pundit to not have stumbled upon and made a connection. Nor should there be a problem with connecting...

DES MOINES, Iowa - Ted Cruz arrives Monday for his first Iowa trip of 2016, but he won't just be battling Marco Rubio and Donald Trump. He'll been fending off the state's influential corn lobby. As Cruz kicks off a six-day bus tour across the state, his critics in the state's ethanol industry will be trailing close behind in a RV. They're hoping to highlight the Texas senator's opposition to a federal mandate that ethanol be mixed into gasoline at each of Cruz's planned 28 stops."We're going to be turning out all of our allies," said Eric Branstad, the son...

Watch the Cruz Christmas Classics (Video)Hope you're ready for a campy Ted Cruz Christmas parody meets infomercial meets sanctioned campaign ad. The Texas Senator and 2016 presidential candidate will play the above ad in crucial Iowa TV markets during this weekend's “Saturday Night Live” broadcast, according to Cruz Communications Director Catherine Frazier. Cruz is no stranger to non-traditional campaigning, he has cooked bacon on the end of a machine gun and performed full-throated “Princess Bride” impressions on the trail in 2016. The above video features Cruz reading to his two daughters, along with his wife, in a traditional Christmas setting....
  • Cruz Is No Nice Guy and He May Finish First

This is the Ted Cruz moment. There was nothing inevitable about it, nor is there anything conventional about him. Born in Canada, elected to the Senate from Alberta's muscular cousin, Texas, Mr. Cruz has until this month been overshadowed by his slightly younger fellow Cuban-American, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. No more. Cruz has soared to the lead in almost every poll in Iowa, eclipsing even Donald Trump, and ranks second to the billionaire businessman in almost every national poll. If there is an alternative to Trump right now -- and remember, as a cautionary note, how Republican polls and...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) defended his role in the 2013 immigration battles Thursday, telling reporters at a rally here that the Republican "establishment" was misleading people about why he introduced an amendment to penalize workers in the United States illegally. "Let me use a Las Vegas analogy, from poker," said Cruz. "It's called 'calling their bluff.' Listen, the Democrats and the establishment Republicans who supported the Gang of Eight, they claimed they cared about the people who were here illegally. And so I introduced an amendment that made anyone here illegally permanently ineligible for citizenship. That amendment called their bluff,...

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: If you define amnesty as he does, as citizenship. Yes, he fought that. If you define it as allowing people who came here illegally not to suffer the consequences of illegal entry, which by law should be deportation, he did not oppose that. It is very clear that he supported that. And as you showed last night in that big showdown, many, many pieces of evidence like his interview with Byron York and others, and what he told the Texas Tribune, he, at the time, said he was in favor of a compromise that would take the 11...
