During the Republican presidential debate on CNBC, Dr. Ben Carson was asked about his involvement with Mannatech, a medical supplement company. He was specifically asked about how endorsing their product would reflect on his judgement, since they had been subject to a government probe for wrongdoing. Carson denied he was connected to the company in any way other than as a fan of their products. That was a lie. Carson promoted the company in speeches, and in a video presentation: In the video, Carson hailed the company: 'The wonderful thing about a company like Mannatech is that they recognize that...

Dr. Ben Carson, the rising African-American Republican star who is considering a run for the presidency, endorsed a nutritional supplement made by a firm embroiled in controversy, including claims that it's a pyramid scheme selling 'scam' products. The revelation will damage Carson's standing as a moral crusader who aims to put an unassailable face on the GOP's anti-Obamacare health policies and could tank his future political plans. Mannatech, a multi-level marketing sales company that sells weight-loss products, skin creams and so-called 'nutraceuticals.' Carson began his relationship with the firm in 2004, speaking at its annual sales conference, and gave repeat...

. 2015-10-29 Presidential Election Observations by Free Republic's Patton@Bastogne Post GOP Presidential Debate (Three) on 2015-10-28 Jim Robinson's Free Republic Conservative website is the premier internet forum for political discussions. Since 1996 Free Republic's astute political observers have parsed and dissected Presidential Candidates better than anyone. Last night's GOP Presidential Debate Three (Colorado) featured several developments and suprises. Conventional MSM Pundits and George Will will predictably conclude that John Kasisch and Mike Huckabee are headed for the political exit. Dr. Krauthammer and George Will also may lament that "Yeb" Bush and Christ Christy will probably be "expelled" after Debate IV....

Even as Dr. Ben Carson touts his medical expertise as a qualification in his candidacy for President, he is stuck having to explain why he once claimed that his prostate cancer had been cured by a junk science supplement consisting of aloe vera and tree bark. Carson, who has rejected most modern scientific principles during his campaign as he is rejected climate change and other basics, has been caught on video making the claims as part of a pyramid scheme promoting the supplement , even as he denied any connection during the third republican debate. In what might be the...

Do you eat bacon? Oh. You might want to sit down for this. I’m very sorry to be the one to break this to you, but you’re probably going to get cancer and die. I hope you have your affairs in order. At least, that’s how some people interpreted the news of a World Health Organization study that classified processed meat as carcinogenic to humans and red meat as “probably carcinogenic to humans.” (So you’re saying there’s a chance?) It was only a matter of time before bacon and hot dogs took their place on the epic grocery list of...

It's official: Ham, sausage and other processed meats can lead to colon, stomach and other cancers -- and red meat is probably cancer-causing, too.

For now, it’s just processed meats. But you know they’re coming for that steak on your table and maybe even your Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas ham. Because fascists gotta do what fascists gotta do, and first they use “science” to get the ball rolling: Processed meats – such as bacon, sausages and ham – do cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Its report said 50g of processed meat a day – less than two slices of bacon – increased the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%. Meanwhile, it said red meats were “probably carcinogenic” but there...

The determination, published by a panel of researchers for the International Agency for Research on Cancer in a medical journal Monday, classifies processed meat products like salami and bacon carcinogenic to humans, the strongest level of risk for cancer, and a category shared with tobacco smoke and diesel engine exhaust.

Bacon, ham and sausages rank alongside cigarettes as a major cause of cancer, the World Health Organisation has said, placing cured and processed meats in the same category as asbestos, alcohol, arsenic and tobacco. The report from the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer said there was enough evidence to rank processed meats as group 1 carcinogens because of a causal link with bowel cancer. It places red meat in group 2A, as “probably carcinogenic to humans”. Eating red meat is also linked to pancreatic and prostate cancer, the IARC says. The IARC’s experts concluded that each 50-gram (1.8-ounce)...

The World Health Organisation (WHO) will publish a report on Monday on the dangers of eating processed meats. It is expected to list processed meat as a cancer-causing substance, while fresh red meat is also expected to be regarded as bad for health, the Daily Mail said. The classifications, by the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer, are believed to regard processed meat as "carcinogenic to humans", the highest of five possible rankings, shared with alcohol, asbestos, arsenic and cigarettes.

A 41-year old man has become the first worker at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to be diagnosed with cancer that officials recognise as being linked to his work there after the March 2011 disaster. The unnamed man, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in January 2014 after feeling unwell, spent a year working on reactor buildings that were badly damaged after a magnitude 9 earthquake triggered a tsunami that struck Fukushima and other parts of Japan’s north-east coast on 11 March 2011. The disaster caused a triple meltdown at the nuclear plant, where so far almost 45,000 workers have...

You thought you were confused about mammograms before? Now the American Cancer Society has revised its guidelines, saying most women can start at age 45. The guidance still doesn't match what has been suggested by other groups and is sure to raise more controversy. There's big disagreement over when and how often women should get mammograms. Until Tuesday, the American Cancer Society said women should get one every year starting at age 40, as well as regular breast exams by their doctors. The new American Cancer Society guidelines are far more complicated. They say women of average risk of breast...

Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, renowned chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, underwent a two-hour operation at Hopkins yesterday for prostate cancer and should be ready to go home by Saturday, his surgeon said. Although tests indicating whether the cancer had spread will take a few days to complete, Dr. Patrick Walsh said, the disease appeared confined to the prostate gland. If lab studies confirm that, he said, the possibility for a cure will be high. "Everything looked good," said Walsh, Hopkins' chief of urology. "I've said I think this is a curable cancer, and everything today looked compatible...

Could a malaria protein work as a weapon against cancer?A group of Danish researchers found the potential cure while looking for a way to protect pregnant women from malaria. Malaria, a bloodborne disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite, is especially dangerous for pregnant women because the parasite may attack the placenta, putting the child's life at risk. Because of similar characteristics between tumors and placentas, they found that malaria proteins can also attack cancer.Like Us on Facebook "The placenta is an organ, which within a few months grows from only few cells into an organ weighing approximately 2 pounds, and...

Please pray for Redleghunter, who is recovering from surgery and now is waiting to talk further with his oncologist. Here is what happened, in his words: Via freepmail from Redleghunter: Up and about walking and leaping and praising God 24 hours after surgery. Ok not the leaping, I was told not to do that:) Initial scope of tissue is that it is cancerous. How involved unknown until pathology report. Location of small tumor is akin to standing in Grand central station and having access to over 17 train platforms. Meaning if not caught now would have “got on a train”...

A Massachusetts man is thanking his lucky stars that he was attacked by a shark. Eugene Finney was left bloody and bruised when a shark slammed into him while he was swimming off the California coast. “Something struck me from behind. I’d never been hit like that before. It was pretty jarring. It kind of gave me an instant whiplash,” he told WBZ. Even though the attack left a large gash along his back, the real pain started in his chest. “The pain was caused by interior bruising of the thoracic cavity due to blunt force trauma,” Finney said. However,...

Tyler S. Drumheller, a high-level CIA officer who publicly battled agency leaders over one of the most outlandish claims in the U.S. case for war with Iraq, died Aug. 2 at a hospital in Fairfax County. He was 63. The cause was complications from pancreatic cancer, said his wife, Linda Drumheller. Mr. Drumheller held posts in Africa and Europe over a 26-year career during which the CIA’s focus shifted from the Cold War to terrorist threats. He rose to prominent positions at CIA headquarters, serving as chief of the European division at a time when the agency was abducting al-Qaeda...
