President Donald Trump is set to face a backlash from Hollywood as he descends on Los Angeles to raise money for his re-election campaign during the week of the Emmy Awards. Mr Trump's opponents in the entertainment industry have demanded to know who is going to his fundraising event on Tuesday, and vowed "not to work with them again" on film and television projects. The US president escalated the row by calling attention to a massive rise in the number of homeless people in Los Angeles, and elsewhere in California, blaming Democrats for the crisis. Ahead of his visit Mr...

I can't find anything on it yet other than it registered initially at 3.9 apparently at USGS. Will probably see some updates around later. Wife, and I were having lunch at 1:20 P.M. when we heard "THE SOUND" we hear often before the quake hits us. "THE SOUND" the quake makes traveling towards us, and then the inevitable WHAM, JUMP, SHAKE, and the "THE SOUND" as the quake moves on to surprise more unsuspecting luncheoneers across its path in Southern California. No damage. Just shook us up in the middle of egg salad sandwiches, and potato salad. Glad it wasn't...

The 33-year-old man who police say went on a stabbing spree that left four dead and two wounded was identified Thursday, August 8 as a documented gang member with an extensive criminal history prior to Wednesday’s deadly rampage that spread from Garden Grove to Santa Ana. Investigators were still trying to determine what motivated Zachary Castaneda to attack the victims, who police say were random targets, Garden Grove police said. Castaneda was made eligible for release under the AB109 inmate-realignment legislation, police said. “This person should have been in prison and not allowed to be in our community,” Garden Grove...

At least one gunman opened fire Sunday at Northern California’s Gilroy Garlic Festival, killing at least three and injuring 15, before being fatally shot by police stationed nearby who responded in less than a minute after the initial shot was fired, a police official said. The shooting rampage began at 5:41 p.m. on the north side of the festival, Chief of Police Scot Smithee said at a press conference late Sunday. Smithee said the gunman gained access to the festival by cutting through a fence near a creek area. He said some witnesses reported a second suspect, but police could...

The shooting Sunday night on the final day of the annual event at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy left three dead, 15 injured and the suspected shooter, Legan, killed by police. Several others were injured in the chaos after shots were fired, but were not shot, authorities said. The dead include 6-year-old Stephen Romero. A second suspect was still on the run. Police remained at the scene of the shooting Sunday night into Monday investigating. A...

San Francisco will become the first US city to effectively ban e-cigarette sales, after the city's board of supervisors unanimously voted in favor of an ordinance Tuesday. The ordinance says "no person shall sell or distribute an electronic cigarette to a person in San Francisco" unless that product has undergone premarket review by the US Food and Drug Administration. To date, none have. This includes sales in brick-and-mortar stores, as well as online sales shipped to a San Francisco address. The ordinance also applies to flavored tobacco products in addition to e-cigarettes. The measure does not ban the use of...

In the latest and most egregious example of attempted government overreach, California legislators have proposed a bill that would dictate what pastors preach from the pulpit. Specifically, Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99 calls on ‘counselors, pastors, religious workers, educators’ and institutions with ‘great moral influence’ to stop perpetuating the idea that something is wrong with LGBT identities or sexual behavior. ACR 99 also condemns attempts to change unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as ‘unethical,’ ‘harmful,’ and leading to high rates of suicide.”

Rush Limbaugh offered a piece of counterintuitive advice to Donald Trump on his radio program Tuesday: "Go to California, Mr. President." "I made a brilliant observation yesterday about the Democrats in California," said Limbaugh (transcript via RushLimbaugh.com). "Democrats in LA are appalled that homelessness in their city is rising and so much of it, and they’re mad that the Democrat candidates for president are not talking about it. And I told the people of LA (and I’ll do it again today), 'The Democrats are not gonna talk about your problems. They already own you! They don’t need to fix a...

California’s controversial new sex ed guidance contains medically risky advice that reads like it was written by a college fraternity, says a former public school teacher who’s been helping parents mobilize against the curriculum. “It’s shocking,” Rebecca Friedrichs, the founder of For Kids & Country, said in an interview with The Christian Post when describing the condom relay races 10- and 11-year-old girls have been participating in at schools where, in front of boys, they’re taught how to put a condom on a model of an erect adult male penis. Students as young as 11, she warned, are also being...

Government school officials in California think it is “really important” to teach children about pedophilia and pederasty in the classroom because it is a “sexual orientation.” That is according to a top official for California's Brea Olinda School District, who admitted to parents that it was being done — and that it would continue, despite the outrage. The implications are mind-blowing. The stunning admission came after a parent-information meeting last month for the Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD). Stephanie Yates, founder of Informed Parents of California, asked school officials why they were “teaching pedophilia in school to 9th graders.”...

The Golden State is still a magnet for immigrants who want to build a life in the United States, but it’s a less attractive destination for other Americans. A new report from Governing Magazine shows that California is unlike other western states in that most of its newcomers arrive from foreign destinations instead of other American states.

Standards of evidence have been discarded, and children are being altered for life. Last year Jeanette Jennings, as part of the reality-TV show I Am Jazz, threw her 17-year-old child, Jazz, a “farewell-to-penis party.” Guests cheered as the teenager hacked at a phallus-shaped cake with a knife, shouting, “Let’s cut it off.” The party may have been a bit contrived even by reality-show standards, but the subsequent operation was all too real. In any other context, we might consider the drug-induced stunting of a child’s penis, followed by its surgical removal, to be mutilation. But in an era of culturally...

You could be forgiven if you thought that the media onslaught against conservatives the last few years would have an effect on how most of the country views the right. That media campaign - directed against Donald Trump but also against conservatives - has been unprecedented in its scope and intensity. Conservatives are routinely portrayed as racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Muslim, and paranoid xenophobes. But Gallup found some remarkable conservative strength all across the country. Their latest survey shows that liberals outnumber conservatives in only 6 states and that there are 25 states where conservatives are polling above their national average....
