Despite most media coverage, the invective and nastiness is -- needless to say -- not just on the Right. We've written about anti-McCain arson and anti-Palin vileness before, but check out the letters written to the Los Angeles Times after Reason's Matt Welch -- no fan of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- defended McCain from the ludicrous charge he's a traitor. Welch writes that "nothing really prepared me for the volume and tenor of outrage when I dared suggest in a family newspaper that published reports disputing McCain's POW heroism were, in my judgment, incorrect."

BOSTON (CBS) ― Police are investigating a burglary at the Boston offices of the community activist group ACORN. Boston police told CBS station WBZ-TV Friday that three Dell laptop computers were stolen from the group's Dorchester, Mass. office around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. According to police, the alarm had also been ripped from the wall and wires had been damaged. The police report says two downstairs offices also were ransacked, two vending machines were damaged and change stolen from them. A representative from the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now said he did not know if the break-in was politically...

CINCINNATI - Close to one in every three newly registered Ohio voters will end up on court-ordered lists being sent to county election boards because they have some discrepancy in their records, an elections spokesman said Wednesday. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner estimated that an initial review found that about 200,000 newly registered voters reported information that did not match motor-vehicle or Social Security records, Brunner spokesman Kevin Kidder said. Some discrepancies could be as simple as a misspelling, while others could be more significant.

CT officials admitting they know of at least 8,500 dead people who are registered to vote next month. Say they can't get to it until after November 4. Anyone smell an ACORN here? People, this election is being stolen.

Whew! I was waiting for CNN to tell me if there was real connection there, and now we know. This actually is a weird video. First of all, they call themselves the "Truth Squad," which is exactly the same title the Obama campaign is using for groups of police and prosecutors in Missouri it has asked to go after people who "lie" about Obama. These guys are so glib and are practically laughing at how silly and non-sensical this whole thing is. Video at the link.

Back in 1960 the skills required to become President of the United States changed forever. That was the year that John F. Kennedy debated Richard M. Nixon on national network television for the first time. When reminiscing about Kennedy's win, pundits love to cite that he was tanned, good looking, had great hair and had his make-up professionally applied, while Mr. Nixon appeared pale, had a nervous demeanor and sweaty brow. They say that Nixon won on the radio but Kennedy won on TV. 1960 ushered in the era of the Network politician. For better or for worse, after the...

Vote Fraud and How to Combat It Introduction I have been involved in campaigns and volunteering at the polls since 1994. In every election where I have been involved there was evidence of vote fraud. Based on personal experience I estimate that in important national elections up to 10% of all votes cast are fraudulent. Did you notice how polls that favor Republicans to win on Election Day are almost always off by a significant amount when the votes are counted? Have you noticed how Philadelphia turns in more ballots than the number of adults in the city? Who are...

Bullies Storm Republican Office http://www.wkmg.com has the video-- I watched the video, and that was one of the more disgusting spectacles I have seen. WKMG television says it was ONE OF TWENTY LOCATIONS of COORDINATED PROTESTS TODAY. The tactics of the Left are increasingly reminding me more and more of the SA (Storm Troopers) the Nazis used during the 1920's and early 1930's to intimidate opponents. Protesters Ransack Bush HQ's in Orlando! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;s=ransack Labor Activists Invade Bush's Campaign Sites Shots fired into GOP campaign office UPDATE: Shots fired into Knox Bush/Cheney headquarters More blatantly lazy reporting...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) just announced that the Senate will not clear four new appointees for the Federal Election Commission, meaning the panel that acts as a watchdog on political campaigns cannot function during the critical election-year period. Reid is blaming the White House for refusing to withdraw to allow a majority vote on the nomination of Hans von Spakovsky for a seat on the commission. Republicans want von Spakovsky approved as part of a slate of four FEC nominees or they will refuse to consider any of the nominees. Von Spakovsky was recess appointed by President Bush...

# Transactions were made to defraud creditors of Your Black Muslim Bakery, trustee says The bankruptcy court trustee in charge of liquidating Your Black Muslim Bakery is going after three properties worth $2.28 million that the bakery gave its CEO's mother in what the trustee claims was an attempt to hide those assets from creditors. Attorneys for trustee Tevis Thompson filed a complaint Tuesday against Daulet Bey, who turns 50 on Monday and is mother to eight children of the bakery's late founder and patriarch, Yusuf Ali Bey. Among those children is Yusuf Ali Bey IV, 21, the bakery's current...

The following is a commentary from the Truth and Hope Report (http://www.truthandhope.2truth.com) Weekend update by Democratic Political Dave Screwtape. There's been a great deal of controversy over John Edwards urging people to use Memorial Day commemorations to oppose the War in Iraq. The allegation is that he's politicizing Memorial Day. Well, I say good for him and yes, he may be politicizing Memorial Day, but so what? Republicans and Democrats across the land already hold picnics on Memorial Day. Doesn't that mean the day is already politicized? For those who complain about the politicization of things, I would like to...

A relative has been in the hospital, and then rehab at a nursing home, for a couple of months. The other day I took the 90-year-old over to his house. We weren’t there for a minute when the phone rang. It was a telemarketer. In less than ten minutes, two other sales calls came in. The elderly, often housebound and lonely, are particularly susceptible to phone pitches. Some companies specifically target them for scams. Last month the New York Times ran a story on an information broker business, infoUSA, which sells lists for telemarketing. According to the Times, a list...

The decision by the abortion rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America to pull an incendiary ad attacking President Bush's nominee to the Supreme Court has produced a fresh round of recriminations within the Democratic Party and a return to a nagging question: Has the opposition lost its nerve? ....some choice pieces: "Republicans don't mind running an ad that's entirely false, but Democrats have never learned, and I'm not sure many of them want to learn, how to play that kind of politics," said Robert Shrum, an adviser to several Democratic presidential campaigns. NARAL had to pull the ad, he said, because...

The discovery of uncounted ballots in a King County elections facility could change the tenor of the governor's-election lawsuit, and it comes just as Republicans fine-tune their case in the final weeks before trial and drop some previously high-profile claims. Already, attorneys for both sides say the news of 94 uncounted, valid absentee ballots means scrambling to change plans for last-minute collection of evidence. They will expand the list of officials they want to question under oath and will change the nature of questions they'll ask King County's top two election officials, who were already scheduled for depositions. News of...

The DUmmies are so far gone into fantasy that it takes a very special thread to grab my attention in the auditioning process for the DUmmie Funnies. I believe I have found such a Dummie discussion so completely divorced from reality that it deserves to be honored with a DUmmie FUnnies edition. I therefore present to you this hallowed THREAD appropriately titled, “WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS, I GUARANTEE YOU....” Yup! It’s an absolute guarantee that Kerry will enter the White House this January. Therefore as a public service I again list the Suicide Hotline number for the DUmmies...

The DUmmies are in an uproar of despair. Their erstwhile hero, Michael Moore, has appeared on the Jay Leno show and appears to have deserted them, especially on the vote fraud issue since Jabba the Shmuck accepts the fact that Bush (GASP! SHOCK!) actually won the election. There are several DUmmie conspiracy theories on this Dummie THREAD titled, “Anyone else disappointed by Michael Moore on Leno tonight?” as to why Moore appears to have betrayed them but my own theory is that the Evil Republicans threatened to cut off his pizza supply if he didn’t change his ways. The DUmmie...
