Jim, I usually don't do this but in this case you gotta think zot here.....

C'mon, man that's brutal. One of the things that I hold dear to being a libertarian/conservative is the one to think and make up my own mind without parroting one monolithic agenda or another. We basically accuse the left of being like a Borg and in almost all cases, they deserve that label but we must not become Borglike ourselves. Being able to think for one's self and make up their mind is a key to that. As long as someone doe the job, meets the requirements and is not a threat, I don't care what they do in their spare time. Even so, we must accept that even conservatives can disagree once in a while but we must all work together and deal with the real threats like Iran, the economy and so forth.

No. He's f***ing idiot that couldn't even get through school without affirmative action. He couldn't even write his own book. He Admitted that he was a terrible student and liked to spend his time doped up in "total immersion" in pot smoke. He got to where he is in the same manner he won the "Nobel Prize". Because stupid white guilt liberals fall all over themselves in hopes of atonement from supporting their new chocolate messiah. It's really that simple.

I often refer to Obummer as "an AntiChrist," not "The AntiChrist." In short, he would be to the AntiChrists out there something akin to being a stupid, lazy and shiftless brother or cousin tht cannot do anything of real importance and keeps coming back to crash on your couch after an all night binge. Even so, a dumbed down AntiChrist can and is very dangerous as well. Even my father refers to him as "Step and Fetch-It," back in the 1940's, he saw a lot of those old shorts as a kid in the movies.

Do you want to entrust your 18-year-old to the military now?

Well, I have a stepbrother and two stepsisters from my father's second marriage and I had a niece who wanted to join the Army. We tried to convince her not to do it because of the way things are but she did anyway. As fate has it, she has psoriasis (skin condition (sp)) so she was rejected anyhoo. Even so, it saddens my father, as a veteran, when he said, "I would not join the service to defend this country anymore," In 1985, I would be angry at that thought but now, I have to agree the way we are headed. Sad, isn't it?

And they thought Caligula was crazy for appointing his Horse to the Senate.

I think the horse would make a better Senator or even President than what we have now.

I don’t care who is gay or straight as long as they do their duty, their job and they have the qualifications for it. Also, if I may add, as long as it does not hurt troop morale and undermine security, that goes for all, heterosexuals as well as homosexuals. I once heard an old OSS agent from World War II stating that the three best ways to gain control over someone is through the use of alcohol, drugs and sex, either as a “payment” or to blackmail them with. Even so, I would like to ask what qualifications and credentials this nominee has. I doubt he is the best nominee out there, I’m sure there are others who can do the job better. He is being nominated because of his sexual preference, I know, I’m being master of the obvious here, but it is true. I don’t care what the guy does in his private life as long as he can do the job but what we are seeing here is affirmative action pure and simple, then again, what do you expect from out first “affirmative action president.”

Hey! As I used to be told on this site all the time, whenever I suggested that folks with tattoos and piercings were suspect, in my book, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Certainly you can. I’m with you on this one; definitely a taco short of a platter.

I should not be that way either but I cannot help it, like you, the experience I have with people with massive piercings and loads of tattoos has not been great. There will always be exceptions. Many of them have big issues, maybe that's why they are like that. It really hurts me to see an otherwise attractive girl (or guy even) spoil themselves with enough metal in their head to pick up Radio Free Europe without the shortwave radio.

Actually they better not be outnumbered any more than about 6 to 1 in an engagement. They only hold 6 AMRAAMs and 2 Sidewinders. If they get close enough for the heat seekers they’ve already lost the advantage. With a system like the F-22 you want to shoot BVR and go home. You don’t want to mix it up in close where even some 20mm can take out a 300+ million aircraft.

Yeah, I'd be scared to take out the F-22 for fear I'd lose it, 200 or 300 million a plane, yikes! B-) Seriously, we should have made more of them, dump the F-35, make more F-15SE's and to round out the low cost side, some F-20's, basically an uprated F-5. Still there will be times you will have to go toe to toe in a close dogfight and just pray we win. Even so, I think they want to modify the F-15C to carry twice as man air-to-air missiles, I know the F-15E (from the old F-15 Strike Eagle game from the 1980's) can carry 4 Sidewinders (AIM-9's) and 4 Sparrows (AIM-7's) and if that is the case, it would have 8 each. That would be one mean mama!!!! I remember in the F-15 game, it was cool engaging enemy MiG-21's and 23;s BVR with the Sparrow. Even so, if you get too reckless and cocky, they can kill you just as well as anyone else out there. In reality, there are no obosolete weapons just obsolete tactics.

SecDef Dick Cheney ordered the destruction of F14 jigs, dies and tooling in 90 or 91.

Big mistake! Even so, if it came down to it, I'm sure we can reverse engineer it, even better so with 3D printing.

Anyone still defending this flying piano either has a job associated with Lockheed Martin, has stock in the company or related stock, has their career married to this sham, or is brain synapse challenged.

I just had my 30th high school reunion and one of my schoolmates works for Lockheed-Martin and defended the F-35 to the hilt. I still disagree with him very much but I cannot fault the guy, you do not bite the hand that feeds you. Even so, it is still a flying gold brick, IMHO.

I think there was a Soviet group in WWII called the Night Witches made up of entirely women pilots and they used old biplanes for night ground attacks. The Germans had trouble engaging them with the ME109’s and up because of the speed differences. Some of the Witches shot down the German planes IIRC.

Thanx! You just gave me my good laugh of the day. BTW it would not surprise me if it did happen, I’d even give even odds if The Baron had Japanese Zero or an ME109. A few months ago, there was a program on Coast to Coast claming the Red Baron shot down a flying saucer in 1917. Anyhoo, the Fokker is a paragon of stealth, it is made out of wood and canvas.

The 20th Century was a special time where science just exploded at a record pace. In just less than a human lifetime, we went from Kittyhawk to the Moon. We went from the first vacuum tubes like the Fleming Valve and DeForest’s Audion to computer chips with billions of transistors. I do fear we could enter a new Dark Age.

I hope you are wrong. I was born in 1966 so I do remember the Moon landings. At least if I live a long life, I can tell kids that I lived in a time when man actually left the Earth to walk on the Moon, another world. My uncle worked for NASA on those mission. We had a purpose, a goal and a soul then to make it to the Moon. We lack that today. Orion is nice but it is basically Apollo v2.0, maybe we should have just kept the old Apollo instead. I wish you would be wrong but since we are in decline, I doubt we will see a man on Mars and if it gets worse, we could see a new Dark Age. B-(

My grandfather was among the first at Omaha Beach and he went all the way to the concentration camps of Buchenwald and later, the Elbe River with an M1 Garand in tow. He most likely shot and killed people fighting for a regime who supported same ideas like these. We fought a war around the world to show the world we must make a stand against these evil notions. Now we are seeing these pop up and it makes me ask the question Linus asked Charlie Brown from the special of the same name about Normandy and Flander’s Fields, “What have we learned, Charlie Brown? “ We might have to pick up the Garand again and redo Normandy on Lakes Erie and Ontario, heck, we need it on the Potomac.

I’m not in favor of DIY suicide either, just brought that up for sake of argument. It seems the people ho are for euthanasia don’t want the responsibility of carrying out the horrible deed themselves, they want someone else to do it with the blessings of government and society. Suicide is wrong, very wrong but it is much worse when you want someone else to carry it out with the sanctions of “the powers that be.” That involves a slippery slope.
