Obama to nominate first openly gay service secretary to lead the Army

President Obama, in a historic first for the Pentagon, has chosen to nominate Eric Fanning to lead the Army, a move that would make him the first openly gay civilian secretary of one of the military services.

Fanning’s nomination is the latest in a series of actions taken by the administration to advance the rights of gays and lesbians throughout the federal government. The Obama administration has overhauled internal policies to provide benefits to same-sex partners, appointed gay men and lesbians to the executive branch and the federal bench and ended the 18-year ban on gays serving openly in the military.

Fanning, who must still be confirmed by the Senate, has been a specialist on defense and national security issues for more than 25 years in Congress and the Pentagon. As Army secretary, he would be partnered with Gen. Mark Milley, who took over as the Army’s top general in August. Together the two men would assume responsibility for the Pentagon’s largest and most troubled service.

Gee, I wonder if he will pick the best warfighters for promotion to general, or promote the officers that push diversity?

The Pentagon is lifting the ban on transgenders, and is also going to open up all combat positions to women despite all the evidence that women are not capable of serving in those positions.

They pushed 2 cherry picked females through Ranger School in order to declare that women can do it. Does anyone honestly believe that a woman, no matter how in shape can complete, Navy Seal, Special Forces, or even infantry training? Dear God I hope we can undo the damage this fool is doing to our military.

Jim, I usually don't do this but in this case you gotta think zot here.....

C'mon, man that's brutal. One of the things that I hold dear to being a libertarian/conservative is the one to think and make up my own mind without parroting one monolithic agenda or another. We basically accuse the left of being like a Borg and in almost all cases, they deserve that label but we must not become Borglike ourselves. Being able to think for one's self and make up their mind is a key to that. As long as someone doe the job, meets the requirements and is not a threat, I don't care what they do in their spare time. Even so, we must accept that even conservatives can disagree once in a while but we must all work together and deal with the real threats like Iran, the economy and so forth.

Any public figure's spare time needs to be scrutinized. Spare time is essentially where all character traits resides at. Giving it/taking it up the anal canal and resisting natural law due to being a slave to your impulses is a bad character trait.
