SWANSEA, Wales, September 17, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- A former cast member of BBC3’s hit reality TV show The Call Centre is being investigated by police after she posted on Facebook earlier this week that babies born with Downs Syndrome should be executed.
Ursula Presgrave, 24 years-old, posted on her Facebook page Sunday night: “Anyone born with down syndrome should be put down, it’s just cruel to let them lead a pointless life of a vegetable.”
Pre-born children with Downs syndrome are highly discriminated against because of a genetic anomaly of having an extra 21st chromosome. A in utero diagnosis for this non-deadly condition, which slows a person down while giving them flat facial features, results in abortion in at least 90 percent of cases.
Despite medical pressure to have the lives of those with Downs Syndrome terminated because of a lack of “quality of life,” one poll found that 99 percent of people with the condition say they are happy, 96 percent say they like how they looked, and 97 percent say they like who they are. A staggering 97 percent of families who have children with chromosomal abnormalities report that these children “enriched their lives,” irrespective of the length of their lives.
Presgrave made a name for herself in The Call Centre last year as the tattooed vulgar employee whose sassy attitude constantly clashed with her boss.
A number of Facebook users shocked by Presgrave’s post demanded that Facebook delete it, only to have Facebook respond that the comment was acceptable.
“I reported it to Facebook and told them I wanted the post taken down because it was hurtful, hateful and offensive,” Tracy Louise Thomas told Wales Online.
“Around 15 minutes later they got back to me and said they had reviewed the post and her profile and they could not take it down because it did not breach their codes of conduct or standards,” she added.
In response to another user, Facebook wrote: “Thank you for taking the time to report something that you feel may violate our community standards. Reports like yours are an important part of making Facebook a safe and welcoming environment.”
“We reviewed the post you reported for containing hate speech or symbols and found it doesn’t violate our community standards. We’ve let Ursula Presgrave know that others find it insensitive and have asked them to remove it or limit who it’s shown to.”
p dir="ltr">Presgrave’s offending post is reminiscent of a 2014 Twitter post by atheist Richard Dawkins in which he stated that choosing not to abort a child with Down Syndrome would be "immoral."
In June a pro-abortion blogger, outraged over an Ohio bill that would prohibit abortion on the basis of the pre-born child having Down syndrome, wrote that ending the life of someone because of a disability is simply the “human” thing to do.
While Presgrave’s post has since been made unavailable to the public, a petition has been launched to have her account permanently banned from Facebook.
“As everyone has seen in the paper how saddastic [sic] and poison Ursula Presgrave is. Now here's a petition to sign and hopefully Facebook will start listening to us all and know we want her gone,” the petition, with over 800 signers as of this writing, states.
Police officers confirmed to Wales media that Presgrave is facing an investigation after they said they received a large number of complaints about the post.
The Shaw’s Market near us employs many baggers with Down’s syndrome. They are hard-working, friendly and helpful. The girl in this story, however, seems disturbed.

However, where the Left has unchallenged sway, such as on many college campuses, speech codes effectively censor all views that are not PC. Comedians such as Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld, neither of whom are conservative, refuse to perform on college campuses for that reason.
The First Amendment can and will be trashed as the Left increases its power in this country. Recently, liberal authors have advocated treating "homophobes" as mentally ill and thus subject to Communist-style confinement to mental institution. Remember that a court has ordered Dinesh D’Souza to undergo psychiatric treatment even after two professionals have attested to his mental fitness. Additionally, climate change "scientists" have petitioned the Obama Administration to prosecute climate change deniers to prosecution under the RICO statutes.

The really awful thing is people who claim they feel sorry for those with Downs aren’t sorry for them. They’re just uncomfortable at the sight of someone with Downs . . . and we know in today’s hyper-narcissist society that will not be tolerated.
Many of them lead quite wonderful lives, unlike this person with facial piercings and tattoos living life on a reality TV show.
This is one of those bothersome borderline cases. Is she about to go off her nut and do something horrifying, and this is a thought leading up to it? I find it really difficult to fault an investigation to determine whether she is only being an ass or whether something worse is the matter.

Maybe the investigation by police is what you get when you have a full-blown “hate crimes” legal structure in the UK. I’m sure there’s plenty of case law to exempt hate speech against Christians as a “hate crime.”
It is lamentable that the old social structures which might have interposed more patience here are pretty much gone today. Try as I might, I can’t fault the investigation (even though of course nobody’s calling for her to be clapped in irons for it either). Maybe the men in the white coats should have been called rather than the ones in blue coats, but that’s a distinction with less of a difference today.
She is young and not thinking her position through as we know it, but at her stage and ignorance in life she could consider her position to her to be a thought of compassion in ending suffering for people and families. She is wrong, but I don't think she is being evil and trying to do a hate crime by even UK standards.
Maybe idiots that mutilate their own bodies should be put down. Stupid bitch better not mess with this nana. Next she will want all people with special needs killed.
