A New York City police officer’s car has prompted cries of racism. When the unidentified officer drove to work in a replica of “The General Lee” from the 1980s hit CBS show “The Dukes of Hazzard,” a resident called the local CBS affiliate to complain. The problem? The car’s roof is adorned with a Confederate flag.

I work in a major department store west of the Pittsburgh area and I sold some jewelry to a lady who was buying it foe her grandaughter's tea party. Just to make conversation, I referenced the Tea Party political group. She said how bad they were and Ted Cruz is "too Christian." I asked, "what do you mean by that?" She said, "I'm Catholic and liberal," and I replied, "hopefully if him or someone like him was elected, we can start to fix the damage of the last 7 years." She didn't like it. People like that drive me nuts....

Remember the days when CBS and other networks would have bumpers like these between the shows and specials?

I had a thought a while back and decided to post it: There is a side of me that feels like I time travelled back to the 1970's. Let's face it, like then, we have a horrible economy, an inept President, gas (and energy in general) prices are high, we have a weakened military, Islamic radicals causing trouble, the Russians are invading their neighbors and we have Jerry "Governor Moonbeam" Brown as governor of California.

Wayne Green passed away this morning in a peaceful, painless transition from this life on Earth. An eternal optimist, and one who loved to share his neverending zest for life, he was a friend to many and will be missed greatly. Wayne was not afraid of dying and was very much ready to embark on his next great adventure to the afterlife. 73, W2NSD (Sept 3, 1922 - Sept 13, 2013)

I need some prayers and good thoughts since my mother was just diagnosed with breast cancer and we are just beginning to fight it. She goes for a PET scan tomorrow and also to an oncologist to get meds to shrink the cancer. She also has a good doctor, some friends and acquaintances have the same one and many women have kicked it with her help plus the doctors say, "don't worry, we have many ways to fight it." Many thanks to all.

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Michigan Department of Transportation says one-fifth of the lights along freeways in Metro Detroit aren’t working — and copper thieves are mainly to blame. MDOT spokesman Rob Morosi said roughly 20 percent of the lights on poles and beneath overpasses on freeways in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and St. Clair counties are dark. “We are responsible for about 5,500 light poles and also about 5,000 individual lights that are installed beneath overpasses,” Morosi told The Detroit News. “Right now we’re estimating 1,100 outages to those poles for a number of reasons.”

I'd consider other Red areas too.

One of my cats, Whitey, is sick. Until last Friday, she's been very active and eating a lot until she became kind of skittish and aloof and cut back on her eating. She sleeps a lot and still drinks water but eats sporatically. I think it could be a hyperactive thyroid, I had a similar experience with another cat where she was put on meds and responded well and lived a few years afterward. My other guess is maybe bad teeth, but I point towards the former. I'm hoping it is that or at least something that is treatable. I'm...

It's time to wave bye-bye to the Confederate flag — from the "Dukes of Hazzard" car, at least. That's right, in a somewhat controversial decision, Warner Bros., the studio that owns the theatrical, DVD and licensing rights to the franchise, has decided to remove the flag from all future versions of General Lee. But how do Bo and Luke Duke feel about this move? There's no official statement from the fictional cousins just yet, though a spokesperson from the "Dukes of Hazzard" toy company confirmed, "Starting January 1, 2013, all 'Dukes of Hazzard' General Lee vehicles will not be allowed...

Every year or two, progressive New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg actually says something I agree with, like when he recently warned that there could be riots in the streets of America if the economy doesn’t improve. On his weekly radio show, Bloomberg said that a lack of jobs is causing people to become desperate. “The damage to a generation that can’t find jobs,” explained Bloomberg, “will go on for many, many years.” But Bloomberg and I parted ways when he praised Barack Obama for offering a proposal to create jobs and improve the economy. “At least he’s got some...

Idaho to be first Chinese state: Governor Butch Otter, in league with notorious Marxist, B. Hussein Obama, have hatched a plan to make Idaho the first Chinese owned state in America. Otter and company have named this Project 60. Sounds innocent enough, until you realize that Otter and his minions are afraid to call it what it is, globalization of America and surrender of sovereignty. If it were called that someone may want to charge Otter with sedition. Under B. Hussein Obama it has become increasingly difficult to do business in America, unless you are from a foreign nation. Idaho,...

I'm an auto parts delivery driver, I drive hundreds of miles a day. I live near Pittsburgh. Last week, I had to go to Alliquippa, PA to pick up parts and when I was on my way back eastbound on Brodhead Road, I saw a billboard that got under my skin. I saw on there a cute little girl, 2 or 3 years old, smiling. She seemed to be of Hispanic or Mexican descent, I'd look closer but I had to mind traffic and control of my truck. Her origin is of no importance, it doesn't matter, it could be...

I know Stephen Hawking is a subject of the UK. Does anyone know if he got his healthcare through the British NHS (National Health Service), through a private hospital in the UK and/or going outside the UK itself? I would venture he would have had to go outside the system from time to time since I could not see the NHS providing him with all that equipment and help plus I'm sure he has connections to go around the system.
