  • A Suggestion as to Voter ID (Vanity)

As we all know, the left has continuously litigated against voter photo ID laws, often successfully, on the grounds that the poor, disadvantaged Democrat voter is unlikely to possess such a rare document. It came to me that a solution to the need for election security, while "pulling the teeth" of this argument might be found if we reversed the whole process. What if the voter were given 2 choices at the poll: 1) they could present a state-issued photo ID before voting, or 2) they would be photographed before voting and a photo ID would be generated and mailed to...
  • Union Bosses Arrested for Stealing Romney Signs in Ohio

    The Plain Dealer ^ | November 12, 2012 | Pat Galbincea
Perrysburg OH police arrested four Toledo area men early Friday morning on charges of stealing Mitt Romney campaign signs in Wood and Lucas counties in Northwest Ohio. The signs were found in a pickup truck owned by Sheet Metal Workers International, Union Local 33 in Parma, according to the police report. Many of the signs -- some measuring as large as 4 feet by 8 feet -- were believed to have been put up by members of Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition, said John McAvoy, the group's president.
  • WHAT is Scytl & WHY Should You Be VERY, VERY Concerned?

    The Patriot Update ^ | April 10, 2012 | Ann-Marie Murrell
Here’s another of those quiet, subtle, but very dangerous little stories that has somehow slipped past all the mainstream media outlets. The United States of America has a brand new private VOTE COUNTING company that the Obama administration has personally handpicked. The company is called Scytl and it is based in Michelle Obama’s most favorite vacation spot, Barcelona, Spain. Forget the fact that Barack is once again providing jobs for people in another country; there are much bigger fish to fry in this story.
  • Was The Georgia Secretary Of State’s Decision “Greased”?

    Western Journalism ^ | Feb. 21, 2012 | Suzanne Eovaldi
”That thing was greased,” as they say in Chicago, referring to a political phenomenon known as “being handled before table.” Well, bloggers are asking, was it? Word now coming out reveals just two days after Secretary of State Brian Kemp gave Barack Obama the green light to appear on Georgia election ballots,, the Department of Energy awarded Kemp’s state an eye popping $8.3 billion loan guarantee to begin construction on two nuclear plants. In the face of “a shocking dissent by Nuclear Regulatory Commission CHAIRMAN Director Gregory B. Jazcko,” four other commissioners approved awarding Southern Energy the first nuclear construction...
  • Why Sarah is "Ineluctable" (Vanity)

Sometime back, I saw (and immediately loved) an image created by fellow Freeper E Pluribus Unum. It was a picture of Sarah Palin at the Presidential podium. with the caption: "in·eluc·ta·ble adj: not to be avoided, changed, or resisted: inevitable."This fit perfectly with my own views on the subject of who should be our next President. Yet, I had to ask myself, why do so many staunch conservatives believe that Sarah is "unelectable?" My own wife, who began her political activities as a Goldwater Girl at a time when I was still dumb enough to be an "Active Young Democrat"...

A few weeks ago, the National Institute for Money in State Politics published a report showing a marked spike last fall in campaign contributions to Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller by lawyers and law firms that represent big banks after Miller announced he was opening an investigation into the nationwide mishandling of foreclosures by Bank of America, Chase and others. On April 20, TIME reported that a lawyer and a consultant for Bank of America, which is in direct negotiations with Miller over its handling of foreclosures, gave a total of $15,000 to Miller’s campaign.

It has long been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Much has been written and broadcast in the past 48 hours about the need to see a certain picture. A picture that some believe could provide comfort, closure, or confirmation of a death; a killing. This is a picture of death. It is bloody and gruesome, yet so many want to see it. Another picture caught my eye today. This was a picture of despair. It was a picture of hope. At its core it is a picture of the greatest hope the world knows. This was...
  • Muslims Continue Pushing Christians Out of Bethlehem

The Muslim Fatah-controlled authority in Judea and Samaria is encouraging a "sharp demographic shift" in Bethlehem, where the Christian population went from a 60 percent majority in 1990 to a 40 percent minority in 2000, to about 15 percent of the city's total population today. It is estimated that, for the past seven years, more than one thousand Christians have been emigrating from the Bethlehem area annually and that only 10,000 to 13,000 Christians remain in the city. International human rights lawyer Justus Reid Weiner, who teaches at Hebrew University, told the Jerusalem Institute for Global Jewish Affairs that, under...

In an effort to do my part in rescuing our country from the out-of-control Obama administration, last year I ran for Congress in Oregon's 4th District against 12-term incumbent, far-left Democrat Peter DeFazio, co-founder of the House Progressive Caucus...Although I had never run for public office before, I immediately announced my candidacy for Congress again in 2012. However, when you take a stand for what's right, sometimes there is retribution. On Nov. 4, 2010, as soon as the election results were in and they were sure their candidate had won, faculty administrators at Oregon State University gave new meaning to...

Some of the world’s pre-eminent experts on bias discovered an unexpected form of it at their annual meeting.Discrimination is always high on the agenda at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s conference, where psychologists discuss their research on racial prejudice, homophobia, sexism, stereotype threat and unconscious bias against minorities. But the most talked-about speech at this year’s meeting, which ended Jan. 30, involved a new “outgroup.” (Conservatives!)

You could almost see the White House frenzy as it tried to co-opt the Republican majority to coerce it into going along with the nation-ruining, economy-wrecking spending that has been proved to be the biggest drag on prosperity since Hoover and FDR turned a stock market crash into a decade long Depression. They gave him a book on Reagan to carry around on vacation. He does not strike me as a reader. But Reagan is too fresh in the memory. He had to go back deeper to find a Republican icon to rationalize big spending. Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt have...

Testament of Youth (a Memoir) | 1933 | Vera Brittain
I have been reading Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain, a memoir of her service as a nurse in World War I, and would like to share an excerpt that I found particularly moving. This young lady, still in her early 20s by the end of the war, writes very eloquently of the horrors that she witnessed and personally experienced. I think it's fair to say that she did not have a "good war," since the war took from her, her fiancé, many close friends and her only brother. One of the most moving passages comes when she describes events...

Thoughtful Americans – people of common sense and good will – know exactly what is going on today in American Politics. Whether or not the proposed absurd, onerous tax penalties are eventually signed into law, we share the outrage you must feel for the utter hypocrisy, heavy handedness, and pure idiocy of our elected officials. There is nothing new about the concept of politicians identifying scapegoats to divert attention from their own ineptness, but they have now taken it to a preposterous level. These polished, practiced hypocrites, aided by the media, are staging a vicious charade aimed at stirring anger...

(an open letter)by Bill Gray Professor Emeritus Colorado State University (AMS Fellow, Charney Award recipient, and over 50-year member) I am appalled at the selection of James Hansen as this year’s recipient of the AMS’s highest award – the Rossby Research Medal. James Hansen has not been trained as a meteorologist. His formal education has been in astronomy. His long records of faulty global climate predictions and alarmist public pronouncements have become increasingly hollow and at odds with reality. Hansen has exploited the general public’s lack of knowledge of how the globe’s climate system functions for his own benefit. His...

1-926-1926 Tuesday, October 28, 2008 WAS ANNE PRESSLY MURDERED FOR PLAYING THE PART OF CONSERVATIVE POLITICAL PUNDIT ANNE COULTER IN "W" ? The cameo role of a bubbly, blond TV anchorwoman in the controversial movie "W." is being looked at as a possible motive in her bloody beating and subsequent death inside her Arkansas home, authorities said. Anne Pressly landed a part in "W" as a blonde conservative political pundit just like Anne Coulter. Anne Pressly died of her injuries on Saturday, October 25, 2008 Pressly had a small role in the Oliver Stone movie "W," which opened Friday 10/17/08....

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. (More at www.FernleyNews.com)
