Since the preponderance of evidence on the earth itself points to a young earth that has faced catastrophes, and since the universe appears old, I've come to the conclusion that Dr. Humphreys' view comes closest to the mark. This view allows for both.

All the economic problems and balkanization are symptomatic of heart-issues at the core of the American fabric. Even homosexuality and abortion are only symptoms, albeit telling ones closer to the root. Unless we remove the rotting corpse from the pool of the spring of liberty, we will have rancid and polluted water, no true freedom at all. It's not without accident that John Adams wrote that our system of government is only suitable for a moral and religious people.

America's leaders - indeed, any nation's leaders - are a reflection of the people: yes, even dictators. I do not see Donald Trump as a man with the strength of character and humility and godliness needed to bring about the "greatness" that once was our treasured possession. I hence do not see that God has any intention of rescuing this nation, nor has He any obligation to do so.

This battle must be fought on our knees, I fear, with a disposition of gratitude for merely another day of light and air, another day not confined by razor wire and guard towers. "Give us this day, our daily bread."

    That is my position.

There is no war anymore, I fear, because there's nothing to fight for. The phenomena of Trumpmania is the stench from America's rotting, stinking corpse, and the man himself a paragon of neither virtue or principle. His meme is "the deal". If he gets elected it will be through leftist support. He will not right the ship nor address the abomination of the normalization of homosexuality (a mental illness) nor the tragedy of abortion.

If the "fight" were for right, for that which classically defined America, I would be right there with you, but winning for winning's sake regardless of the cause is a pyrrhic victory at best.

Which is why it’s probably time to give up on saving America and focus on our own survival and our families.

Right there with you, but substitute “Donald Trump”. He’s emblematic of everything wrong in this nation - the devolution of dialogue to playground insults and popularity contests.

The broader point is, no one knows their origins. God himself references the bear and Pleides in Job. Read your Bible.

None so blind... yet so many cannot see the gay pro-abortion anti-poor pro-eminent domain mogul for what he is...

Cruz people are idol worshippers... they cry from their crouched position before the golden calf of Trump...

Cruz is a flip-flopper... say the supporters of the pro-choice/pro-life, consistently pro-gay, anti-2A/pro-2A candidate from New York...

It’s going to get ugly for those of us who fear God more than man. We have been punished, and will likely be punished more on any number of specious accusations. We are punished for remaining Americans as we understand America (see #130 above).

The thing that's unnerving is this, and I believe I speak for many others, perhaps you: I have not changed over the course of my life. My values were set by the time I was 20. The culture around me has changed. It seems to presume that I'm going to change along with it. It has these ideas about "progress" (which it confuses with "change") and "evolution" (which is in fact "devolution", even at the biological level). Yet I have no intention of changing. I am an American. In an earthly sense I belong to, and will always be a part of, that nation that I know as "America". I have no intention of changing at all because I refuse to accept the underlying presuppositions of change.

Consider the firmament and its zodiak: We have no idea of the origins of the names: the lion, the bear, the twins... They are shrouded in ancient antiquity and remain constant... They point to a changeless Creator, to whom we are less than ants. He rules and reigns over the affairs of men, allowing good and evil threads in the grand tapestry of history which will only be seen whole when it is completed.

America is but a tiny speck on that tapestry. All nations are. It was once an important piece and no doubt comprised part of some larger feature of history, good, noble, but that America is sewn up, and the Weaver's hands have moved beyond it.

In the end, when the great piece is finally revealed, it will become manifest, and that terrifying Divine justice of which you speak will at last be let loose, and then, only then, will every tear be wiped and every knee bow and tongue confess the name of the true King. There will be no golden calves, no pagan sex rituals, no perversion, no disease, no glorifying of any Trump or Cruz or Clinton or any man, only joy in that final, Heavenly country.

It’s really true, isn’t it? It’s existed as an idea - the demise of America - but we’re smelling now the stench of the America’s decaying corpse in the Molech-worship of Trumpmania.

I will not vote for a sodomistic baby killer. Even if I’m the last person standing, I will not bow down before the golden calf that is Donald Trump. If others, who are mere men, can stand for the task, acknowledging the Most High God as their strength and source of wisdom, that is well. But we as a society are hell-bent on our hellbound journey. Trump, and Hillary, and Sanders must be opposed.

Since the Enlightenment and developments in the 19th Century (Darwin, Marx, and others) the West has embraced this smug notion of “inevitable progress”. Perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate. “pro” in progress implies direction toward a given ideal but what’s really inevitable is not progress but change.

We’ve been, not evolving, but devolving. Abortion. Sodomy. Death. “Tolerance”. Violence in its many forms glorified as tolerance... Just like the human race itself, which loses about three genes in each subsequent generation, the society it comprises is devolving toward barbarism. After all, if we are to believe we are but brute beasts, a cosmic accident with no ultimate purpose, why not embrace our baser and more primal urges as natural?

Fortunately, that is a fairy tale devised to shelter those pricked by their consciences. In reality, by the authority of God’s Word we are created in God’s image - noble, intelligent, sentient, with each life bearing ultimate purpose, one held intrinsically, endogenously.

Those who stand by the Truth will be attacked by the fairy tale adherents as though the former embraced a fairy tale, the latter labelling good, evil and evil, good. Yet stand they must, even if t hey find themselves utterly alone and aliented, because their eye is on a higher prize...

and anyone wanting to move the clock back will always be derided by the establishment and criticized for "moving backwards" even though eventual Feudalism is the inevitable direction of ANY empire.

Let's freeze frame there and talk about this. A week ago I would have backed Cruz or Trump. But Trump showed himself an unprincipled opportunist in attacking Cruz the way he did - after publicly stating the non-issue was, well, a non-issue in September.

After what I've read from Trump supporters here I've decided not only will I not support Trump, I will actively work to defeat him should he get the nomination. The nation cannot afford yet another spoiled, petulant child in the WH. Did you perchance see how he behaved in Myrtle Beach earlier today, how he doubled down as the boos good louder as he launched into Cruz, and doubled down yet again after that?

I see a man being carried the same way O was in 2007-2008. He did awful in the early debates - no specifics, just brash yet vague statements ala "I'll make Mexico pay for it". Yet the knee-jerk Pavlovian response, no matter how poorly he did, was "Trump won". He's Donald Trump, after all!

    Nope.
