Alaa Bader al-Hashemi, 30, was caught on the mall’s closed circuit television behaving oddly before and after the killing, in the women’s toilets of the Boutik Mall.

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Chicago rapper Capo, a member of Chief Keef’s “Glo Gang,” was killed in a South Shore neighborhood shooting that resulted in a 1-year-old boy being fatally struck by a vehicle fleeing the gang-related attack Saturday afternoon, according to the group’s manager. A “Ghostbusters” cameraman helped police track down a woman who police said pushed a 72-year-old grandmother to the ground in Chinatown, leaving her with a fatal head injury. The attack took place about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Essex and Chauncy streets, where a scene from the remake of the hit movie was being shot. Tajanetta Downing, 24, of

In a move that’s prompting questions about the stockpiling of weapons by the federal government’s nonmilitary agencies, the Bureau of Reclamation wants to buy 52,000 rounds of ammunition for use in law enforcement at Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. After learning about the purchase request, Nevada Rep. Mark Amodei vowed to inquire with the bureau about its operations, number of officers carrying firearms and how much ammunition it uses, according Brian Baluta, a spokesman for Amodei.

Three people were shot to death and another was wounded Tuesday night near the University of Maryland, Baltimore in what investigators called a "targeted incident," police said. Two vans, one burgundy and one white, pulled over in the 900 block of W. Fayette St. in the Poppleton neighborhood about 10:30 p.m., police said. Gunmen emerged and opened fire, police said. They said three or four gunmen might have been involved. "This was not a random act of violence but was a targeted incident," police said in a statement.

CNN)—Jerry Weintraub, the high-powered Hollywood mogul whose career included promoting Elvis Presley concerts, producing the "Ocean's" movies and spinning larger-than-life tales, has died, according to his publicist. He was 77. Weintraub died in Santa Barbara of cardiac arrest, publicist Michelle Bega said. Among the friends mourning his death was former President George H.W. Bush, a longtime Weintraub pal.

A half-naked knife-wielding man who chased a Miami police officer in Little Havana over the weekend died a day after being shot by Taser stun guns. State agents are now investigating the death of 52-year-old Maximo Rabasa, who had a history of psychiatric problems. The confrontation unfolded Saturday night when a Miami police officer saw Rabasa — clad only in boxer shorts — wielding a knife on the street near Southwest 22nd Avenue and First Street. According to Miami police, the man ran toward the officer, who then locked himself in his patrol car and called for backup.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Mayor Rahm Emanuel says police are doing all they can to quell violence on the streets, but the problem requires having fewer guns on the streets and more moral values in the homes, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore. Mayor Emanuel says he is both saddened and sickened by the rash of gun violence that claimed so many lives this weekend while police officers were on 12-hour shifts and the city’s summer jobs program is employing more people than ever.

A man in his mid-20s was fatally shot late Saturday night in Dorchester, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in an interview. At 10:50 p.m. on Holborn Street, a car was seen firing shots before it fled, Evans told reporters on the scene. The man, whose name was not released, died at the scene. A second man had his arm “grazed,” Evans said, and he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

BOSTON (CBS) – A Christopher Columbus statue in Boston’s North End was vandalized Monday with red paint and the phrase “Black Lives Matter.” Red paint was poured over the top of the statue on Monday night, while Black Lives Matter was sprayed on the back using black paint.

The family of Angela Steigerwalt burst into sobs Tuesday in a Lehigh County courtroom as jurors found an Allentown man guilty of strangling her and setting her body ablaze. The Lehigh County jury deliberated for more than 5 hours before convicting Anthony Heath of all the charges against him: murder in the first degree, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, theft, receiving stolen property and access device fraud.
