  • Chronicles Mag May Be an Option for Some Former NR Readers

I have been a subscriber to National Review for a number of years. I have found its political content within the past few years, to be more focused on the status quo. I still read it for its film and book reviews, but it has lost a lot of ground. I also subscribe to both Chronicles and First Things and the Atlantic (to find out what the elite are supposed to think). Chronicles has always been a little bit edgy and sometimes, IMHO, a little over the top. However, I have seen that recently it has broadened its outlook and...

Manipulated Conservatives: Transgendered Bathrooms are Trivial As I watch people get involved with dramas over this issue, I think: What is it that we are not supposed to pay attention to? What is it that the elites, the media and the government don't want us to notice? Is it the loss of our history and culture with the change with monies, another knife in the gut by the Obama administration? Is it the subtlest of this election? Is it the lousy depression like statistics in some areas of the country? Is it the invasion of western Civ and our country...
  • What Are the Mental Health Effects of Climate Change?

    Medscapte ^ | April 07, 2016 | Peter M. Yellowlees, MBBS, MD
This is the Medscape Psychiatry Minute. I'm Dr Peter Yellowlees. Human-caused climate change, with global warming, is occurring. There is no longer any doubt that heat waves are more intense and longer, and floods and storms more frequent, as the world's temperature and sea levels rise. Much has been written about the potential health impact of extreme weather events around the world, such as infectious diseases, but what about the impact of climate change on the mental health of individuals and populations? A team of investigators from Wellington, New Zealand, have reviewed this topic and concluded that extreme weather events,...
  • NYU students who back Trump afraid to show their faces

    NY Post ^ | 04.04.16 | Melorkia Licea
NYU’s pro-Trump students fear for their safety — and grades. They may be flooding caucus rooms across the country, but Donald Trump supporters at NYU keep their heads down, mouths shut and their correspondence secret. Lying in class about their political beliefs and keeping online conversations strictly private are typical precautions taken by The Donald’s badly outnumbered followers on campus. “Supporters generally try to keep it hidden from the rest of the student body,” said junior Dylan Perera, 22. “They’re afraid of losing friends, being ridiculed in class, getting worse grades and are even afraid of being assaulted and physically...
  • Could not break a 50 at a bank while traveling in US this week?

Went to a bank to break a 50 I had brought along for tolls, and was told that I could not do that unless I had an account. An American bank was not accepting American money! What the hell is going on? A Fifty is worth a little less than a twenty was worth in the 80's. Not much. Went to a pet store to purchase pet food, had to register to use a fifty. More of a move to get rid of money? Anyone else?

My thanks to AEI’s Council of Academic Advisers for this great honor.... ...It isn’t usually put this way, but the advent of the Obama administration brings this question before the nation: Do we want the United States to be like Europe?”And then on the evening of the twenty-fourth, President Obama unveiled his domestic agenda to Congress, and now everybody is putting it that way. As Charles Krauthammer observed a few days later, “We’ve been trying to figure out who Barack Obama is, where he’s really from. From Hawaii? Indonesia? The Ivy League? Chicago? Now we know: he’s a Swede.” In...

  • TECH PING Adblock extension ...sells to mystery buyer, refuses to name new owner

Adblock, a popular extension for blocking advertising in Chrome and Safari with more than 40 million users, was quietly sold today. The extension displayed a popup on October 1 saying that it is now allowing EyeO’s acceptable advertising — which allows advertisers to buy their way onto the whitelist — through the filter. ________________ I have recommended adblock a number of times but noticed when the last update which happened last week that I was seeing ads. And now I know why. They are co-opted. I am now trying Ghostary. Are there other adblocking extensions available that our techs recommend?

Freepers nationwide. I need to compile a database of conservative papers, both dailies and weeklies in each state. Why? For conservative columnists and information sharing. There is no consortium of conservative editors nationwide ( and we wonder why we are losing the culture!) May I impose upon you to provide names of the conservative papers for your state? Format would be: State Name Then the paper names. Your opinions are valued and please give them. All the info you can provide would be helpful. Humbly, Steaming warm, chickensoup

I have followed Mark Steyn for years. I have read his columns, followed his career, bought and read his books and now his recordings. Steyn has over the years, fought time and time again for freedom of speech, and freedom of thought. I respect him. I find him a highly ethical man in this world of dubious ethics. I watched him in the legal battles at McLean's magazine. I read his forward to Geert Wilders Book "Marked for Death" where he said that Wilders could not find anyone who would be associated with the book and would Mark mind writing...

STAFF NEWS & ANALYSIS Cashless Societies: How Realistic? By Daily Bell Staff - December 28, 2015 In Sweden, a Cash-Free Future Nears ... Parishioners text tithes to their churches. Homeless street vendors carry mobile credit-card readers. Even the Abba Museum, despite being a shrine to the 1970s pop group that wrote "Money, Money, Money," considers cash so last-century that it does not accept bills and coins. Few places are tilting toward a cashless future as quickly as Sweden, which has become hooked on the convenience of paying by app and plastic. – New York Times Dominant Social Theme: Remove analog...

Because of changes in my household there is now a need for major TV. So I have upgraded from the basic for my garage tenant to standard that has almost 200 channels. Now I have to purchase a modem and Wi-Fi. I talked to the cable guy. I need Wi-Fi that will travel over 60feet and over three stories. I need a modem that is Time Warner compliant that will bring in over 300 doo-hickies. Is there any one out there who understands this? I have to shop tomorrow and send back the TW modem. After 15 years with my medical group, I received the advanced directive from them. Modeled after the Obama care directive it was interesting to note that the doctor's group directive asks whether one wants to choose whether to be KEPT ALIVE when one has an illness that will not get better, cannot be cured, and will result in one's death quite soon, i.e. a terminal condition. Or when one is no longer unconscious, and likely one would never regain conscious again. The other choice is to be kept alive as long as possible. All other directives I see ask whether...

program. A judge on Monday unsealed the court documents of a grisly murder of a Christian man, allegedly at the hands of three Muslim immigrants in Portland, Maine. In those documents, which had been sealed since the three men were charged Aug. 11, police said they found the brutally beaten body of Freddy Akoa lying on the living-room floor in his apartment. He was the victim of a savage attack that took place over several hours. According to the autopsy report, he had cuts and bruises all over his body, with the fatal blows coming to his head. America's Anchorman, Rush Limbaugh, returns to the airwaves tomorrow, so, as EIB's very own Anchor Baby, I enjoyed a second day behind the Golden EIB Microphone. You can find a few moments from the show here: The Republican Party has become the party of 'Nothing Can Be Done.' It's the Council of Despair. Donald Trump is the symptom, but the disease is a do-nothing Republican Party. I asked the question during the show "What is the Republican Party for?" I'm not sure I got a satisfactory answer. One chap who might have provided one is Rick Wilson, the self-proclaimed top...

Being a citizen in the American corporate state is much like playing against a stacked deck: you’re always going to lose. The game is rigged, and “we the people” keep getting dealt the same losing hand. Even so, most stay in the game, against all odds, trusting that their luck will change. The problem, of course, is that luck will not save us. As I make clear in my book, Battlefield America: The War on the American People, the people dealing the cards—the politicians, the corporations, the judges, the prosecutors, the police, the bureaucrats, the military, the media, etc.—have only...
