Because of changes in my household there is now a need for major TV. So I have upgraded from the basic for my garage tenant to standard that has almost 200 channels. Now I have to purchase a modem and Wi-Fi. I talked to the cable guy. I need Wi-Fi that will travel over 60feet and over three stories. I need a modem that is Time Warner compliant that will bring in over 300 doo-hickies.
Is there any one out there who understands this? I have to shop tomorrow and send back the TW modem. Help!Because of

What’s the matter, all your neighbors misers that secure their WiFi?
Sounds like you need 8” pipes.....
There are no neighbors
Wi-Fi routers and cable modems are quite different.
Please tell me what an 8 inch pipe is?
WalMArt Sears and Best buy sell Wi-Fi amplifiers/range extenders. I think the cheapest ones are under $50................
For a second I thought it said need help with wife :)
I have my own problems!

If he knows how to rout her, his tips could be useful....
LOL!!!
We have TWC at our home. The router provided by them is an Arris DG860. It works perfectly, giving us WIFI covering a large (6500 sq ft) home at speeds of 60+MBPs. I also have a WIFI extender but we don’t really need it. I don’t know what doo-hickies are.
Look into Ubiquiti Networks. Blowtorch WiFi at stupid cheap prices. Www.ubnt.com

You might need to run some Cat 5 cable from the main router to a second wireless router on another floor. May depend on where you put your main box. If it is in the basement, running a wire upstairs might help. If it is in the middle of the house and you have a fairly open plan, a single box might work. Another factor is how many computers/tablets/etc are going to be using the wireless at once.
I should have pointed out that the DG860 is a router/modem combo. All in one.
Check your provider’s website to see what they list as compatible with their system.
I upgraded to a DOCIS 3.0 a couple of years ago now. It is the combined router and cable modem. I bought it at the cable co store, so I would make sure it worked.
Now, DOCIS 3.1 may be recommended.
My cable recommended the upgrade to DOCIS 3.0 to be able to access the increased speed — when they upgraded from 12 Mbps to 18 Mbps. They have also upgraded since to put me at 50 Mbps.
They also upgraded my upload/download amount from 250 Gb to 350 Gb. Even with Netflix and streaming 3 live sports events occasionally, I only use about 80 Gb per month.
For Wi-Fi I like any high end router from Costco or an Apple AirPort (don’t get the one with the built-in hard drive). I never have had a router last more than 18 months so I return them to Costco. The Apple product is bulletproof and Mine is now going on three years without a fault. More expensive, though.
Search Amazon for a TW compatible cable modem.
Linksys 6900 will work.
