Which Republican presidential candidates support amnesty? I have analyzed all the major Republican presidential candidates (except Ben Carson and Rick Sanctorum, who are long shots, and Donald Trump, who has undocumented hair). I have found that all the major presidential candidates support amnesty for illegal aliens, except for one. Can you guess which one?

According to a 2013 Pew Research study, 37 percent of households had an adult who owned a gun — 24 percent said they owned a gun, and 13 percent said someone else in their household did. There are about 319 million people in the United States, so that means there are about 118 milion gun owners in this nation. Mother Jones reports there have been 69 mass shootings in the last 30 years. The Washington Post says, a Congressional Research Service report published in 2013 counted 78 incidents over roughly the same period, in which 547 were killed.

Fifty-five scholars signed a letter released yesterday opposing the College Board’s AP U.S. History Framework. Jane Robbins of American Principles Project and retired AP US History teacher Larry Krieger brought this issue to the public’s attention last year with their op-ed in Heartlander Magazine when the framework was made public in 2014. Defenders of the changes have tried to paint those opposed to the framework as ill-informed and politically partisan or as those who want to censor unflattering history.

A formal retraction of a highly publicized same-sex study with falsified results has been made by Science magazine on Thursday for misrepresentation of survey incentives and funding. One of the authors of the article, Columbia University political science professor Donald Green has requested the retraction on May 19, saying co-author Michael LaCour had been incapable of producing the raw data that was applied in the study. The magazine decided to go ahead and retract it after its own investigation even though LaCour did not agree with the decision.

ST. LOUIS (CBS St. Louis/AP) — A photo of St. Louis Cardinals mascot Fredbird holding a “police lives matter” sign was posted to a police association Facebook page before the team asked that it be taken down. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports sports website Deadspin took aim at the mascot last week after the photo was posted to the St. Louis Police Officers Association Facebook page. Deadspin titled the post: “Your Racist Uncle Will Love This Picture Of The Cardinals’ Mascot.”

A middle school teacher at Hempstead's Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School was in a classroom Wednesday afternoon when a parent went past a security checkpoint and waited outside her door to confront her, police and union officials said. The parent, later identified as Annika McKenzie, 34, insisted in engaging the teacher for reasons that haven't been disclosed. The teacher was heard asking the woman to get a security pass and then calling for security before things got worse, police said.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – New York City public schools have added two Muslim holidays to the school calendar, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina announced Wednesday. Schools will now close for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, making New York City the largest school district in the nation to recognize the two holidays on the official school calendar. “We are committed to having a school calendar that reflects and honors the extraordinary diversity of our students,” said Farina.

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana police are investigating the death of a 40-year -old transgender woman who attended a silicone injection party in December. For the third day in a row, detectives combed through mounds of trash and other items at the Phoenix home of the canal murders suspect Bryan Patrick Miller. Because of the hoarding like conditions, that process will take several more days. And as all this police work continues we're learning more about Miller's violent past and several run-in's with the police. Miller was arrested last week in connection with the brutal murder of two women in Phoenix in the early 90's.
