In case you missed it, celebrity fight promoter Damon Feldman recently set up another of these pay per view boxing events between George Zimmerman and DMX (who is apparently a musician fallen on hard times). These celebrity boxing events are not a new thing. TheyÂ’ve been held before, featuring various B list actors, failed childhood stars and other media figures. Danny Bonaduce went through a lot of this as an adult when his career fizzled after the Partridge Family years. But back to ZimmermanÂ… The proceeds from the show were slated to go to charity. But there is still a...

<p>As in, what now, George Zimmerman?</p>
<p>Seems like the former neighborhood watchman has found yet another way to remain in the public limelight.</p>
<p>This time, he'll be stepping into a boxing ring to fight rapper DMX.</p>
<p>Zimmerman said the celebrity boxing match was his idea. Boxing was his hobby, he told Radar Online last month, even prior to the "incident."</p>

Mike Tyson: ‘Dennis Rodman Is Guilty Of Treason’ January 10, 2014 3:09 PM PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It takes a lot to shock and outrage Mike Tyson. Sounds like a job for Dennis Rodman. As if Rodman’s recent trip to North Korea, for an exhibition game with several former NBA players, didn’t raise enough eyebrows, Rodman’s appearance on CNN with Chris Cuomo raised just about all of them. Rodman’s interview turned into an outburst, as he seemed to defend policies of North Korea while yelling at Cuomo. The other players that were along for the ride with Rodman sat silently and...

I had always maligned Muhammad Ali for having developed, implemented the Rope-A-Dope tacticthat despite being a very effective strategy, felt was a cheap, cowardly way in which to defeat his opponents. But on closer inspection as offered by the enclosed gif, I came to see first hand that the Rope-A-Dope I thought he used was simply to have him standing in the cormner his head protected his opponent tiring himelf out in the process. But as I now see it, Ali had developed a deeply analytical, highly effective, disciplined approach that was more proactive than reactive, for which he deserve...

Manny Pacquiao got himself back in the race last night with a dominant decision win over Brandon Rios in Macao. So what's next for the Filipino superstar as he closes in on his 35th birthday? With last night's one-sided win over Brandon Rios, will we finally see the long-awaited "dream fight" between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather? In a word, no. In a few more words, it's so beyond unlikely that any lengthy discussion as to why we won't see it is really a waste of time, but here are a few bullet points to lay out why this fight...

He was the second man to beat Muhammad Ali, breaking Ali's jaw and sending him to the hospital in their 1973 heavyweight fight. Ken Norton frustrated Ali three times in all, including their final bout at Yankee Stadium where he was sure he had beaten him once again. Norton, who died Wednesday at the age of 70, lost that fight for the heavyweight title. But he was forever linked to Ali for the 39 rounds they fought over three fights, with very little separating one man from the other in the ring.

I don't have a link at this time, but I just read on AOL that Kenny Norton had gone to his reward. Never liked his style of boxing, but HE made Ali THE Greatest. In their first fight, he broke Ali's jaw in the early rounds. Still, Ali went the distance and lost in a decision. In their 2nd fight in Yankee Stadium, Ali won in a split decision. If it wasn't for Ali, Norton would be an obscure "also-ran" In any case, Norton was one of the TOP Heavy-Weights of the era. RIP

Tommy Morrison, the former heavyweight champion who stood toe-to-toe with Lennox Lewis and George Foreman and later tested positive for HIV, died Monday. He was 44... He was a prodigious puncher whose bid to fight in the 1988 Seoul Olympics ended at the hands of Ray Mercer, who later dealt Morrison his first professional loss. He had a starring role in "Rocky V" alongside Sylvester Stallone. And perhaps most memorably, Morrison tested positive for HIV when the virus still carried a significant stigma, only to declare later the test was false...

Inside the smaller theater at Madison Square Garden about five years ago, shortly before a world title fight, Emile Griffith was introduced one more time to the crowd. He rose shakily from his seat, waved ever so briefly and then sat down. The applause kept going. Revered in retirement perhaps more than during his fighting days, Griffith died Tuesday at 75 after a long battle with pugilistic dementia.

Many athletes erupted in outrage on Saturday when George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed Florida teen-ager Trayvon Martin. But rather than just take to Twitter to express his outrage, Terrell Gausha, a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team, is planning to make a more visible protest against the jury's verdict. Gausha told TMZ that he will never wear the American colors into the ring or on his body again. At the 2012 Olympics in London, Gausha frequently draped himself in the flag. But, he told TMZ, no...

BOSTON — It was a blow the immigrant boxer could not withstand: after capturing his second consecutive title as the Golden Gloves heavyweight champion of New England in 2010, Tamerlan Anzorovich Tsarnaev, 23, was barred from the national Tournament of Champions because he was not a United States citizen. The cocksure fighter, a flamboyant dresser partial to white fur and snakeskin, had been looking forward to redeeming the loss he suffered the previous year in the first round, when the judges awarded his opponent the decision, drawing boos from spectators who considered Mr. Tsarnaev dominant. From one year to the...

Former heavyweight contender Carl “The Truth” Williams passed away today after a long battle with esophageal cancer. He was only 53. During a 15-year career that spanned from 1982-1997, Williams compiled a 30-10 (21 KOs) record against the best the division had to offer.

When our Lord says turn the other cheek, He speaks of a spiritual strategy to humble the self and then perhaps, to win other souls to Him. Not all the proud are shamed by humility and it seems pretty clear that those who smote the One who offered them salvation did not turn their hearts to him when He turned His cheek to them. Saint John Cantius won the hearts of some bandits when he called them back to take some money they had overlooked, but that is an instance rare enough to have become the lore of hagiography. Sane...

Two weeks before Muhammad Ali beat Sonny Liston for the heavyweight championship, the boxer’s trainer met secretly with FBI agents and identified members of the Nation of Islam who were associates of Ali, according to bureau records. In a "confidential" February 1964 memo to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, a supervisor in the bureau’s Miami office reported on a meeting with “trainer-manager” Angelo Dundee and Dundee’s brother Chris, who was promoting the fight between Liston and Ali (who was then still known as Cassius Clay).
