Many athletes erupted in outrage on Saturday when George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed Florida teen-ager Trayvon Martin.
But rather than just take to Twitter to express his outrage, Terrell Gausha, a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team, is planning to make a more visible protest against the jury's verdict.
Gausha told TMZ that he will never wear the American colors into the ring or on his body again. At the 2012 Olympics in London, Gausha frequently draped himself in the flag. But, he told TMZ, no longer.
How can I wear my stars and stripes proudly in a country where they make a big deal out of Mike Vick dogs, but not a young innocent black males life?
Gausha, who is scheduled to fight Julio Garcia on Saturday at the Fantasy Springs Casino in India, Calif., told TMZ he refused to represent a ""nation with so much racism and hatred."(continued)

Renunciation of U.S. Citizenship
Then get the F out and oh yeah, return all the millions of dollars you’ve probably made off of boxing in this country
On August 2, 2012 Gausha lost to India’s Vijender Singh in a pre-quarterfinal bout, thus getting out of Olympics.
That should work out real good for ya Terrell.
Let the dipstick hang out in Chicago for a weekend.
Better not see his azz at the Olympics then. buh-bye
No problem. He should be barred from competing for the US for his remarks.
Headgear doesn't really prevent brain damage.
no, I don't.
Every incident, good or bad, teaches you something. I also learnt a few things. I realised who are my true friends and who are the hangers on. I realised that difference because all my good friends formed a ring of support around me, Vijender said.
Wake up Terell.
You are running with the wrong crowd.
liberia, we have another one for ya....
Perhaps he should fly under the Obama logo.
What a queer thing for this chap to say.
Mama Said Knock You Out!
Funny thing, This punk ass boxer is just the same physic of Tayvon Martin, and just as punchy.
You’re off the team. Get out of here ya bum.
Whoa! Is that a white Hispanic attacking a black man?
I am delighted for this boxer not to be associated with the American flag. In fact, I would prefer if he ended all associations with America.
The right is Fully extended.
Terrel is right on the Oh Snap!
That’s OK Terrell, we won’t root for you ...
Looks like Terrell has a pig ol pussy belt on too.
Yikes! I wish he wouldn’t wear our colors in the ring. That’s embarrassing.
Blackie Gennaro produced some good boxers in Ohio.
This guy aint one of them.
It is embarrassing.
Will he wear the Purple Drank flag?
I got a “black Irishman” friend that can kick both their asses..
Don’t Eff with an Irishman, black or other wise. LOL
Seriously, weren’t the Irish and the Jews effed with to the limit?
Terrell is a easily manipulated fame whore who figured out this is the only way to get anyone beyond his immediate family to know his name. People will not know his name for any of his accomplishments, such as they are, because no one cares about this moron.
get off the team or play for Cuba.....and get out, too
He should be barred from competing for the US for his remarks.
I hope he loses to the boxer from Afghanistan
The boxer won’t wear the American flag? Try this easy solution, “You are NOT representing the U.S.A. in this or any other contest in the future. Go find your training in another country”.
What happened to HIS First Amendment right???
= = = = = = = = =
He,like everyone, has the right to say what he wants.
HOWEVER, if you play for the Los Angeles Dodgers and say you do not like Magic Johnson and you refuse to wear the LA uniform cap etc LA has every ‘right’ to suspend or fire you for NOT wearing the uniform as required - which is their ‘right’ so long as they are paying you or you are getting compensation in one form or another.
Besides, if the guy (WHO??) is so morally opposed to represent the USofA, how could he even think of accepting ANYTHING from the Country or its citizens.
OTOH, I am sure enough monies could be raised to allow this guy OR any like him to leave and NEVER darken our shores again.
That is my RIGHT, to donate to such a fund.
SOMEBODY TELL THIS IDIOT HE IS MORE THAN WELCOME TO LEAVE THIS GREAT COUNTRY THAT GAVE HIM THIS OPPORTUNITY, AND PROBABLY A MILLION OTHER OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE DO NOT GET TO HAVE AS A WHITE PERSON. HE SHOULD BE PULLED OUT!!!
That’s a good thing...wearing the flag says he represents me...he doesn’t. My next door lib neighbor, who has a cardboard statue of Obama in her parlor, started flying the flag because use she now believes in her country. I packed my flag away respectfully..I can no longer fly it ..”for which it stood.”
Wow....”Black is beautiful”, as they said in the sixties.
Those Liberian chicks wearing GWB’s image ought to give Sharpton & Jesse a bad case of the heebie-jeebies.
And speaking of the sixties, somebody please find that pic of black U.S. athletes at the 1968 Olympics giving the clenched fist salute. This is nothing new.
Yeah, those white hispanics are tough cookies.
Absolutely amazing how many folks who weren’t in the courtroom, didn’t follow the case, and were not privy to the evidence have taken issue with the verdict.
Mostly Black, of course; these folks seem to consider the whole thing to have been a sporting event in which their “favorite” team lost.
Explains a good deal about the nature of life in Africa; and in the Black ghetto, for that matter.
I'd like to see George Foreman kick his ass....and don't think he still couldn't.
“for which it stood”, indeed.
That says it all.
Refusal to wear the colors = refusal to wear the uniform. That’s what he said.
It wasn’t his criticism of the trial outcome, but his specific refusal to wear the colors of his country, when his olympic uniform is based specifically on and represent those colors.
