Since 2000, up to 104 people have been charged with an HIV-related crime in Maryland, according to a new report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. The state’s HIV-related criminal laws are disproportionately enforced based on gender and race. Black people, and Black men in particular, are overrepresented in HIV-related crimes. Black people make up 30% of Maryland’s population, 71% of people living with HIV, and 82% of HIV-related criminal cases. GOP presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday directed $1 million to bolster security at a historically Black college near the site of what authorities deemed a racially motivated shooting that killed three Black people at a Dollar General in Jacksonville over the weekend. A Prince William County, Virginia, woman shot and killed an allegedly armed, masked man who approached her front door on Thursday. A woman was arrested for setting her husband’s car on fire in a parking lot in Ohio, United States, because it was dirty and had a faulty wheel. The company has sent out teams of temp workers, hired through the staffing agency Randstad, to scan people's faces in exchange for $5 gift cards.
