Janet Napolitano wasn't brought to California to legitimately run the massive taxpayer-funded University of California system; she was brought in to help facilitate the "fundamental" changes in the entire system There are numerous news articles about University of California President Janet Napolitano apologizing to legislators this week over a state audit which found $175 million squirreled away in a secret account, while the UC universities were increasing tuition costs on students. The problem is, her apology is hollow, meaningless, worthless, or any number of synonyms for her senseless drivel. She knows nothing will happen to her.

In a contentious 4 ½ hour legislative hearing yesterday in Sacramento, Janet Napolitano, President of the University of California made a pro-forma apology for conduct that should have gotten her fired. She tried to rig an independent state audit, and she got caught, and she is sorry [I paraphrase]. Alexi Koseff explains further in the Sacramento Bee: University of California President Janet Napolitano apologized Tuesday for creating the “wrong impression†that she had improperly interfered in a critical state audit of her office released last week. At a legislative hearing to review the audit findings, Napolitano acknowledged that she...

Full Title: UC Berkeley Student Leader: Police Protecting Campus Free Speech Brings ‘Trauma’ To Minorities A University of California student senator who deemed the cancelled Ann Coulter speech a “violent conversation” has complained the police presence on campus brings “trauma” to minority students. On Sunday, a student-run publication, The Daily Californian, published an article about the security measures UC Berkeley and the local police department took after the protest broke out last Thursday following the cancellation of Ann Coulter’s speech. According to the article, almost 300 police officers were present in order to prevent any potential violence.

Our opponents push the misconception that, by militantly confronting them, we are stifling their free speech. We may be a bunch of leftists and anarchists, but we’ve still read the Constitution. The First Amendment protects you from government censorship. It does not allow you to impose on the 14th Amendment rights of others, prevent other people from using their freedoms of speech and assembly to hold you accountable for the things you say, or guarantee you a right to a paid speaking gig on a college campus. Ultimately, the bloc’s actions against Milo Yiannopoulos were not in response to the...

A substantial police presence both on the Berkeley campus and at a gathering in a downtown park kept hundreds of activists on both sides of the free-speech debate in line during protests Thursday. Hundreds of far-right protesters, some dressed in goggles, gas masks and knee pads, rallied in support of conservative speaker Ann Coulter in Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park . Some at the rally were wearing combat gear, including military grade ballistic helmets and body armor. Dozens of police in riot gear stood by ready to crack down on violence as had been anticipated between provocateurs of...

Well-edited, five minute video shows a compendium of moments of high action at April 15th 2017 Battle of Berkeley. Editor sets video to the famous tune, "Glory, Glory Hallelujah", matching clips and musical mood. While it starts out funny, I found this an incredibly inspiring video, and I have seen most of the prominent ones treating this topic several times. I usually find the tune a little hokey, but in this context it really, really got to me. You will be inspired by this video, even secular patriots will be.

Hidden Americans went to the Battle of Berkeley on 4/27/2017 and saw first hand the new Americana right counter culture. Historically Berkeley is known as the home of the American free speech movement, but after Ann Coulter’s speech was canceled by the University free speech advocates organized online and took to the campus to protest the censorship. Everyone at Berkeley is a hippie, wanna-be hippie, or cross dresser so when a bunch of young pro-America patriots show up dressed in American flags and green frogs, you know the real counter culture revolution going on is being pro-American. This isn’t a...

BERKELEY (CBS SF) — Following the cancellation of the Ann Coulter speech at University of California, Berkeley, far-right supporters plan to hold a rally Thursday to denounce what they claim is the attempted silencing of their conservative views, stoking fears of another violent encounter with far-left groups. UC Police said it was preparing for violence Thursday between militant factions on both sides, even as the speech by the conservative firebrand Coulter was canceled over fears of violence. Gavin McInnes, founder of the pro-Trump “Proud Boys,” said he would fly to Berkeley to speak Thursday and was encouraging other alt-right forces...

When 4chan users are not busy sharing and discussing anime pornography, they can be some of the most efficient crowdsourcing researchers on the web. The /pol/ board in particular was able to find the exact location of an ISIS camp just by clues in a recruitment video. Their research reportedly led to a successful airstrike on the location. Their new research obsession is antifa, the loose group of anti-fascists, consisting of communists and anarchists, who’ve been wreaking havoc in the Trump era. The group uses violence and black bloc tactics and have been involved in various riots and street clashes...

BERKELEY — Hundreds of police patrolled UC Berkeley and a downtown park as counter demonstrations began Thursday after Ann Coulter canceled a speech on campus. As of 1 p.m., the university said there were two arrests. One person was arrested for carrying a knife on campus and a man was arrested for obstructing or delaying a police officer, wearing a mask and giving false identification to an officer. The International Socialist Organization called for members to meet at noon at the corner of Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue. That group claimed on its Facebook page that Coulter is a racist...

The phrasing here skirts awfully close to suggesting right-wingers are complicit in the “anti-fascist†violence directed at them. If a provocateur like Coulter “throws herself into a volatile situation,†don’t be surprised if the locals are provoked in a “volatile†way, I guess.Charles Cooke anticipated this idea of “volatility†yesterday in summarizing the campus view of speech this way: “Your opinions are fighting words because I’ll riot if you express them.” [A]cross the country, conservatives like her are eagerly throwing themselves into volatile situations like the one in Berkeley, emboldened by a backlash over what many Americans see as...

One must wonder. How does Janet Napolitano do it? How does she continually wind up in places of power, despite her consistent reputation for ineptitude and corruption? While she was governor of Arizona, Napolitano requested increased federal border security for her state, a praiseworthy action. But later, while the head of Homeland Security, she actually opposed the same request made by her successor, Arizona governor Jan Brewer, even though Brewer's request was essentially identical to Napolitano's. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. In an extraordinary disconnect from practicality, Napolitano once proposed that the solution to airline hijacking was to require all passengers...

Without uttering a word to students at the University of California, Berkeley, Ann Coulter on Wednesday made herself the latest cause célèbre in the rapidly escalating effort by conservatives to fight liberals on what was once the left’s moral high ground over free speech on campus. Ms. Coulter, the acid-penned conservative writer, canceled a planned appearance on Thursday after the political organizations that invited her rescinded their support over fears of violence. “It’s a sad day for free speech,” she said. But across the country, conservatives like her are eagerly throwing themselves into volatile situations like the one in Berkeley,...

The University of California, Berkeley is likely to once again be the site of brutal protests on Thursday as questions arise about whether the city’s mayor has ties to an extremist group sparking violence. Ann Coulter has vowed to move ahead with a planned appearance at the university, despite Berkeley trying to reschedule her speech over security concerns. Law enforcement sources told Fox News that regardless of whether the conservative firebrand shows up, there is a “99 percent” chance that the college will erupt in violence.

Former Breitbart Senior Editor Milo Yiannopoulos declared that he would “make sure” UC Berkeley would “become the free speech capital of the United States once again” in response to the cancellation of Ann Coulter’s event on campus. “Awful to see my friend Ann Coulter forced to cancel her speech,” wrote Milo on his official Facebook page. “I don’t understand why Young America’s Foundation would capitulate so close to victory. Ann can hardly be expected to show up without insurance, security or a venue, so I completely understand why she had to cancel. She is Ann Coulter, after all.” “My proposed...

Ann Coulter said Wednesday that she is canceling her planned speech at the University of California, Berkeley, because she had lost the backing of conservative groups that had initially sponsored her appearance. Ms. Coulter, in a message to The New York Times, said, “It’s a sad day for free speech.” Despite insisting that she would go to Berkeley regardless — even after the university said it could not accommodate her on the date and time it had initially scheduled her because of threats of violence — Ms. Coulter said she did not see how she could go forward. The school...

April 26 (Reuters) - Conservative commentator Ann Coulter has canceled her speech planned for this week at the University of California's Berkeley campus after a dispute with university officials, who feared violent protests, over whether a safe venue could be found. "There will be no speech," she wrote in an email to Reuters on Wednesday, saying two conservative groups sponsoring her speech were no longer supporting her. "I looked over my shoulder and my allies had joined the other team," she wrote. (Reporting by Mark Hosenball in Washington and Jonathan Allen in New York)
