BERKELEY — Hundreds of police patrolled UC Berkeley and a downtown park as counter demonstrations began Thursday after Ann Coulter canceled a speech on campus.
As of 1 p.m., the university said there were two arrests. One person was arrested for carrying a knife on campus and a man was arrested for obstructing or delaying a police officer, wearing a mask and giving false identification to an officer.
The International Socialist Organization called for members to meet at noon at the corner of Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue. That group claimed on its Facebook page that Coulter is a racist and called far-right supporters “antithetical to the legacy of the Free Speech Movement.”
At the campus entrance, one man with a bullhorn spoke while another man waved an American flag in his face. They were watched by about 100 bystanders.
“This issue is not free speech. The issue is fascism,” the man with the bullhorn said. “We have a fascist regime in the White House. … When fascism comes to America, it’ll be wrapped in a flag.”
Hundreds of Berkeley police officers also were on the scene, along with campus police officers, the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
“I’m here for freedom of speech, since it’s being squashed everywhere in America by wannabe ISIS ninja guys,” said David Fry, president of the American Freedom Motorcycle Association of Tacoma, Washington, who said he came to Berkeley to hear speeches by right-wing figures.

My understanding is that there are a group of speakers out there reading excerpts from the speech that she planned to give, as well as making other remarks.

Only a university and faculty/students along with liberal activists would promote demonstrating against a speech that had been cancelled and the speaker not even in the city. You can only assume they cashed soros checks and had to show since they were prepaid. The demonstration against a non-event and no attendees.
