Shotguns have been used for home defense for centuries in one form or another. But the real question is, what’s the best home defense load for your shotgun? Let’s figure it out. For a thug, nothing can be more terrifying than the sound of a pump action shotgun racking a shell into the chamber for sound deterrent? This will make even the most hardened criminals think twice. Obviously, sheer intimidation will not always solve your big problem. Well what do you feed your shotgun against your home invading foes? Well below are Remington 12 gauge shotgun shells opened up for...

WASHINGTON — A Republican congressman who survived the horrific baseball shooting will offer legislation this week to allow lawmakers to carry guns throughout the nation’s capital. “I’m going to be introducing legislation this week … to allow congressmen to carry a sidearm, should they so desire,” Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” Members of Congress are “high-profile targets, but we have absolutely no way to defend ourselves because of Washington, DC’s rather restrictive gun laws.”

Seven people have been injured following a horrifying overnight shootout in South Carolina that was caught on Facebook Live. Myrtle Beach Police say the incident occurred Sunday around 12:30am near Ocean Boulevard, by the coast. Authorities say that a fight broke out among a crowd of people after which the suspect pulled out a gun and began firing. Some people were hit, and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The video, so far, has more than 2.6million views and has been shared more than 70,000 times.

Australia has no Second Amendment, no Fourth Amendment, no Fifth Amendment, no First Amendment.  There is strong tradition and law that searches shall require warrants, and that people will not be forced to testify against themselves. There are only a few rights actually protected by the Australian Constitution, and they are weakly protected. In the following story, the information that lead to the searches and arrests came from the United States.  It wasn't about people purchasing anything illegal. It was about solvent traps. From smh.com.au: More than 80 illegally imported guns have been seized during raids across the country...
  • Dry Ice + a Shot of .50 BMG

Dry ice + a shot from a .50 BMG = mind blowing experience. I have always heard the term dry ice, but quite frankly have no clue what it is made of, where it comes from, or even what its main purposes are. Nor have I ever seen any dry ice. You may know all these things and think I am a very uninformed and unintelligent human, but I don’t care. So, when I came across this video, I was intrigued of what the result would be if you shot a huge block of dry ice (a foot and half)...

On the morning of June 8th, 2017, I was openly carrying a Glock 17 in a Fobus retention holster. I had to get some medical tests done. I did not have any problem where I had blood drawn. There were no "gun free zone" signs on the door. Next I went to the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) to get a chest X-ray.  It serves as a place to have medical tests done for the entire area. It is part of the Yuma hospital complex.  They have banned guns on their facility ever since the concealed carry shall issue...

You have to admire Democrats; they have their positions dug in and impenetrable, whether even they believe in them or not. If a right-wing Trump-supporting extremist had shot up a Democratic Party congressional baseball practice, they would have used the incident as incontrovertible proof that we need more gun control. As it happens, a left-wing Bernie Sanders fanatic shot up a Republican congressional baseball practice, so...they use the incident as incontrovertible proof that we need more gun control.

Redneck Revolt and other groups have pledged to resist right-wing extremists by any means necessary. One week after two men were stabbed to death while defending two girls from a racist and Islamophobic diatribe on a commuter train, Portland, Oregon, is bracing for more violence. On Sunday, over the mayor’s objection, a right-wing group will hold a pro-Trump “free speech rally,” while anti-fascist activists are preparing to protest the gathering. It’s a pattern that has played out across the country since the election: Pro-Trump events from Pikeville, Kentucky, to Berkeley, California, attract white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and Klansmen along with other...

All lives matter. As do Second Amendment rights. Which is why the killing of 32-year-old Philando Castile last July was disturbing, and the acquittal of St. Anthony, Minnesota, police officer Jeronimo Yanez, this past Friday, so troubling. Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, who live-streamed the chilling aftermath of the shooting on her cell phone, assumed the traffic stop was for a broken tail-light. But Officer Yanez, four years on the force, stopped Castile believing he might be the perpetrator of a recent robbery. Castile was not; he was merely the same race (black), roughly the same age, and had the same...

A CNN media reporter accused the Drudge Report of not caring about facts, then refused to correct inaccurate CNN reporting on guns. It’s been a tough couple of weeks for CNN. First, an assistant to CNN chief Jeff Zucker was overheard on an airplane literally declaring war on the Trump administration. A few weeks after that, a CNN host thought it would be fun to stage a mock beheading of the president of the United States. Then CNN utterly botched its reporting on whether former FBI director James Comey would contradict Trump’s claim that Comey told him on three separate...

Despite the horrible news of the week, including the killing of two prison guards in Georgia and the attempted assassination of Republican congressmen in Arlington, VA, on Wednesday it was a good week for good guys with guns. Donnie Rowe and James Dubose are accused of killing two prison guards early Tuesday morning as they were being transferred between detention facilities southeast of Atlanta. After their escape, they spent two days on the run until they were spotted by Tennessee state troopers. In the ensuing chase, Rowe and Dubose crashed their car and fled into the woods adjacent to Interstate...

On 10 May, 1953, a front was passing through Slave Lake, a village on the South shore of Lesser Slave Lake in  Alberta, Canada.  It was cool, cloudy, and windy. A 63-year-old Cree grandmother and her partner were hunting small game near Florida Lake.  The wind was from the NE, at 12 to 24 mph. At dawn, the temperature had been 40 degrees F. On the morning of the 11th it would be 35 degrees F.  The high for the 10th was 58 degrees. Bella Twin and her partner Dave Auger were going to make hunting history. They were...

And that is just a taste, you can see more pics of the little mountain cottage here. • What gun debate? There is no gun debate in Washington, D.C. (baf alert)

There is zero chance that the shooting of U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise earlier this week will change anything about the gun debate in Washington, D.C. That’s because there is no gun debate in Washington, D.C. The NRA has won. Not the debate — the gun lobby remains very wrong on the facts. But the group had won the politics — big time. I have been a gun owner all my life. I’ve shot long guns of every kind and a variety of handguns. I have no problem with people owning them for legitimate purposes. I own a half dozen of...

Zagros Rifles, named for the mountain range that runs through the Kurdish heartland, are locally fabricated weapons, constructed from parts of large caliber (12.7, or 14.5 mm) Russian rifles. They have served as long range sniper rifles, and as anti-materiel rifles for Kurdish guerillas. Today, they are widely used in the fight against ISIS.

A Minnesota police officer who was charged with manslaughter after he shot a black motorist five times during a traffic stop last year was found not guilty by a jury on Friday, according to multiple reports. Defense attorneys said Jeronimo Yanez, the 29-year-old Latino police officer, was scared for his life when he shot Philando Castile, 32, seconds after Castile informed the officer he was armed. Prosecutors insisted Yanez never saw the gun and had plenty of options other than shooting Castile, who was an elementary school cafeteria worker. The officer was also acquitted of two counts of firing a...

Things will never be the same in America from this moment forward. When 66-year-old James Hodgkinson attempted to gun down as many Republican members of Congress as possible at a baseball field in Virginia, he permanently shattered the notion that we could go back to the way that things used to be in this country. At one time, Republicans and Democrats may have strongly disagreed with one another over the issues, but there was always a certain code of civility that everyone understood and respected. But now that is long gone, and if our politicians and the big media outlets...

A poster on freerepublic.com had this to say about the information.  I’ll bet he left his home and wife back in IL right after he read that article. The timeline fits. The problem for an assassin is finding a low-security high-probability venue to attack. Parking a white van in DC and living in it while waiting to shoot somebody in a motorcade was near zero odds. A baseball practice field in suburban Alexandria with a YMCA for showers and Wi-Fi was PERFECT. This would explain why Hodgkinson had to ask whether the people practicing at the ball field were...

As is too often the case after a tragic shooting, the politics started almost immediately after a gunman injured Rep. Steve Scalise and four others while they were practicing for the beloved annual charity congressional baseball game. Some on the right immediately pointed fingers at Muslim extremists, Kathy Griffin and everyone in between without a Make America Great Again hat. Others on the left jumped in to blame Republicans for obstructing gun safety laws, a few of them gleefully neglecting the normal obligatory thought or sensitivity for the pain of the victims. But when I tuned out the more partisan...
