I’ll bet he left his home and wife back in IL right after he read that article. The timeline fits. The problem for an assassin is finding a low-security high-probability venue to attack. Parking a white van in DC and living in it while waiting to shoot somebody in a motorcade was near zero odds. A baseball practice field in suburban Alexandria with a YMCA for showers and Wi-Fi was PERFECT.This would explain why Hodgkinson had to ask whether the people practicing at the ball field were Democrats or Republicans. The NYTs Article does not say. It only says "members of Congress".

By bringing out every mentally effective guy with a gun there is no doubt the New York Times should be brought before the court for inciting violence and insurrection.

What the NYT does in trying to deflect this current left wing crime to an old lie about Palin is right out of Goebbels playbook. It’s as if there is a Goebbels University somewhere in NYC and all NYT employees are graduates.
I saw an interview with someone who said that the shooter had been hanging out in the nearby YMCA for some time. He was clearly motivated by a media that is whipping up hysteria against Trump but his being at the ball park could have been happenstance.
One thing for sure, it was a miracle he didn’t kill someone.

Just like announcing in every news story the prep school Barron Trump will append. Now security will have to be beefed up for him and his classmates.
The problems is that the NYT is publishing fake/exaggerated/biased “news” with a result of convincing people that assassination of Rs is best for the country.
And even worse for Trump. The media has much of the country convinced that Trump MUST be removed from office (and will be once the next investigation finds the evidence which certainly exists). If/when all investigations conclude that he did nothing wrong, the media will almost certainly write that investigators “could not find evidence” and “could not prove Trump’s crimes”. Mueller will likely use the terms the media likes rather than “did nothing wrong”.
And the deranged nutcases who believe Trump MUST BE REMOVED based on what they’ve been hearing from the media to that point are likely to decide to do it themselves. Too much of the media isn’t even acknowledging the possibility that Trump did nothing wrong or that the country can survive with Trump as president. Months or years of that reporting will result in people deciding that citizens must do it themselves since investigators didn’t. We don’t know if they will succeed or even try, but we do know the reasons they will give since those reasons are published in the NYT daily.

It now appears he left IL for his “tax reform mission” (sic, LOL) before April 12. I have not seen a firm date on when he started hanging around the ballpark.
It’s critical to learn when, how and from what source or person he learned about the ballpark.
If somebody told him, online or in person, then that person, wittingly or unwittingly, aimed the assassin at the Republicans.
Just heard on What Really Happened that the stiff had a “Republican Only List” that’s not being disclosed until those on it are informed for safety reasons.
If they have his laptop they know who he was comunicating with.
