A Las Vegas law firm hired to represent Nevadans for Background Checks filed a massive public records request Monday in pursuit of communication between several state agencies, police departments, the FBI and the National Rifle Association. The firm Greenberg Traurig was hired to represent the campaign after the gun background check measure was blocked from its planned Jan. 1 implementation because the FBI refused to perform the background checks. Nevada voters in November approved the initiative to expand firearm background checks to private-party sales and transfers.

Two scenes in Chicago: •Children playing basketball in a schoolyard suddenly scatter. Because it begins to rain or was time to go home? Yes, in most neighborhoods that's why children run with purpose. In parts of Chicago, children run from gunfire. They know the sound. They know they should duck. Kanari Gentry Bowers, 12 years old, is in a West Englewood elementary schoolyard with classmates early Saturday evening when they hear shots. Kanari knows to duck, her uncle says, but the kids scatter. Kanari is struck in the head by a bullet.

Watching gunfights in the movies is very entertaining and fun. Though we know Hollywood is fame for its theatrics and cool gunfight choreographs. There is one actor that does a great job of keeping it real with precision and speed. For the upcoming movie of John Wick: Chapter 2, actor Keanu Reeves beefed up his training from Taran Butler of Taran Tactical Training. Keanu puts in some trigger time in a fast pace fashion. He dedicated himself to three times a week of practical gunfighting shooting similar to what you see in 3 Gun Nation. Perfection at its finest, for...

If you are starting out with black powder cartridge shooting, the .45-70 is a great place to begin. Most of what we've heard or read about black powder cartridge shooting seems to focus on long-range action. Those stories either include long-range target shooting, especially in "Quigley style" competition, or hunting, such as the tales of the buffalo hunters. While those tales of longrange heroics are often very true, with credits positively earned, black powder cartridges are right at home with shorter range shooting too. Some folks might consider this to be "goin' slow," but it really is the best place to...

map by gun-nuttery.com The Associated Press has long been known  for its anti-Second Amendment attitude.  John Lott exposed there bias in The Bias Against Guns, published in 2003. They have gotten a little better in the last decade, because numerous errors have been exposed.  AP committed another error about gun laws  on February 10th, 2017. In a story about Constitutional or "permitless" carry moving through the New Hampshire legislative process, the AP wrote that the NRA said that concealed carry is legal in 11 states.  From AP via nbcboston.com: The National Rifle Association says concealed carry is legal...

They are the stuff of legend, wielded by hit men and by James Bond. For decades, buying a silencer for a firearm has been as difficult as buying a machine gun, requiring a background check that can take close to a year. Now, emboldened by the election of Donald Trump as president, the industry has renewed a push in Congress to ease those restrictions, arguing that it’ll help preserve the hearing of gun users. “We look at this as a Second Amendment issue. We look at it as a health issue,” said Erich Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of...

Strickland had been attacked by a mob in Portland while covering a “Black Lives Matter” protest. The attack was planned and coordinated in advance. You can read more about it here. Victoria Taft has done an outstanding job of documenting the attack and the trial and you can see that here. In truth, Mike was convicted the moment he was arrested by Portland Police for defending himself against the same kind of mobsters who have...

Since Monday 45 weapons have been surrendered across the capital as part of the Give Up Your Gun campaign, including shotguns, revolvers, rifles and handguns, Scotland Yard said. Detectives from the Met’s gang unit today urged anyone still in possession of an illegal firearm to hand it in before the amnesty ends on Sunday night.

There have been many stories written about the likely new world record non-typical whitetail taken by Stephen Tucker in Tennessee.  It has been written about in The Tennessean, The New York Times, North American Whitetail, CNN, Fox News and Field and Stream.  Field and Stream is the only place I found a photograph of Stephen with his rifle.  The rifle part of the picture was rotated and cropped.  You see it above. None of the articles I have read identify the rifle. Shooters are naturally curious about what hardware was used to take a world record trophy. I believe...

A customer foiled an apparent armed robbery at the T-Mobile store on St. Andrew Street, police said, shooting and killing the armed robber. Like most members of law enforcement, Lynn Koch dreads the day he has to draw his service weapon. Even if to protect his own life, it can mean death to another person. But on a cold winter day Koch, a Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks game warden, drew his .45 Glock to save the lives of two animals, and ensure the safety of another game warden and his own. “I have a lariat in my pickup, but knew there was no way to use it without one of us maybe getting hurt,” Koch said of when he and fellow...
