A Las Vegas law firm hired to represent Nevadans for Background Checks filed a massive public records request Monday in pursuit of communication between several state agencies, police departments, the FBI and the National Rifle Association. The firm Greenberg Traurig was hired to represent the campaign after the gun background check measure was blocked from its planned Jan. 1 implementation because the FBI refused to perform the background checks. Nevada voters in November approved the initiative to expand firearm background checks to private-party sales and transfers.

The suspected robber shot and killed by an armed customer Friday night (Feb. 10) has been identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office as Jordan Espadron. Espadron, 28, was armed when he entered the T-Mobile store, 506 St. Andrew St., shortly before 7:30 p.m., New Orleans police said. New Orleans police are not likely to seek charges against the armed customer who fatally shot a suspected robber Friday night (Feb. 10) in a T-Mobile store, the department said Monday. Wisconsin topped 320,000 concealed carry permits by the end of December, 2016.  As of January 7th, 2017, there were 321,200 active permits. 3,218 new permits were added in December, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice source. Some permits are expiring, so the rate of increase of active permits has slowed. There were 315,263 active permits at the end of September, 2016.
