The social media network banned gun sales by private individuals on its website Friday. Unless you're a licensed weapons dealer, you cannot sell guns on Facebook. Two teenagers NOPD has named as suspects in an Uptown robbery originally told investigators they were victims of a random shooting after the person they meant to hold up turned a gun on them. Investigators arrived at the scene in the 3900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street close to midnight last Wednesday (Jan. 27) to find Jason Ford, 17, and Germain Hurlston, 18, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The FBI conducted more gun-related background checks this January than in any other January since the system was created. With 2,545,802 checks processed through the National Instant Background Check System, January 2016 beat the previous record, set in January 2013, by 50,326 checks. Though January’s number represents a drop from the all-time single month record set in December 2015, it is also marks the ninth month in a row that has set a record. On the afternoon of 31 January, 2016, some ATVs were getting gas at the intersection of Claiborne and Esplanade Avenues in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Richard Macklin pulled up in a white Volvo.  Macklin is believed to have been the aggressor in the incident.  He pulled out a firearm and opened fire on the ATV riders.  Three were wounded before anyone returned fire.
