One of the great champions of the black community is Father Michael Pfleger, head pastor at the Saint Sabina Church on the southside of Chicago. Father Pfleger often works with another man for whom I have tremendous respect: Min. Louis Farrakhan of The Nation of Islam. Together, these two men provide beacons of hope for black families everywhere, while much of the Chicago elite simply tap dance around the most persistent problems in the African American community. One matter that Pfleger has addressed consistently is the need to get guns off the streets that are being used to murder so...

Head of Marshals Service in Chicago reassigned AP , Associated Press Sep. 9, 2014 4:02 AM ET CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. Marshals Service has announced it has replaced the head of its Chicago office for the past four years in a re-organization, appointing an interim chief for its high-profile northern Illinois district. Darryl McPherson, who was named to the top Chicago post by President Barack Obama in 2010, was recently reassigned to the same office's judicial security division, said Drew Wade, an agency spokesman in Washington. Wade, however, declined to discuss why the 17-year Marshals Service veteran was moved...

On September 8 an armed citizen shot and killed a man he claimed was trying to rob him outside an Indianapolis Kroger store. The allegedly robbery took place at the corner of West Michigan Street and North Holmes Avenue "just before 6:20 a.m." According to FOX 59, the suspect was armed and "was found next to an ATM" when police arrived. Indianapolis Metropolitan police West District Headquarters are located across the street, and officers ran toward the shooting when they heard sound of gunfire outside the headquarters.

It has been over a month since Michael Brown was shot and killed in Ferguson, Mo., and we have yet to hear the police officer's version of events. Was Officer Darren Wilson badly injured in his scuffle with Brown? Did Brown attempt to seize the officer's weapon? Did Wilson have reason to fear for his own life? None of these answers has been forthcoming, which is odd and, frankly, suspicious. There are many possible explanations for the tragic death of Brown ranging from justifiable self-defense by Wilson to bad judgment by both parties and all the way to racially motivated...

With the 9th Circuit ruling in Peruta, Guam, Hawaii, and the Northern Mariana Islands can no longer sustain heavy restrictions on the ownership and carry of handguns.   Guam has already reformed its law.  Hawaii has a ruling against it and is waiting to see what  happens with the Peruta decision.   Now the Northern Mariana Islands have had a lawsuit filed against them to repeal the total ban on the ownership and carry of handguns.   It is hard to see how such a ban can stand, given the decisions in Heller, McDonald, and Peruta.   The lawsuit has been filed by...

What to make of the peculiar situation unfolding just across the border in Tijuana, where U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi languishes in solitary confinement for the crime of mistakenly crossing the border with his personal weapons in his truck on March 31? ADVERTISEMENT Nothing to inspire confidence, for certain. In fact, Tahmooressi’s ordeal might just confirm many of our worst fears about the Obama administration. [Big SNIP] That he refuses to get involved despite so obvious a brief for doing so—not to mention a legal duty—isn’t just a reflection of his incompetence. It looks more sinister than that. Tahmooressi is...

As the 13th anniversary of the deadliest attack on American soil approaches, many experts warn of the potential threat posed by terrorist networks including Islamic State, or ISIS. ... Unarmed & helpless Americans and Europeans will be viciously ambushed when they least expect it,” he wrote, “and the death toll will be more brutal and widespread than all the peace & love dreamers could ever imagine.” He declared that the somber date of Sept. 11 will be “the day of infamy again.” According to Nugent’s projection, those who already own firearms should “ammo up no matter where you go,” always...
  • Cleveland Turn In (buyback) will Destroy Valuable Guns

Cleveland held its annual gun turn in "buy back" today, 6 September.   People turned in 270 firearms.  The term "buy back" is a pure propaganda term, because the guns never belonged to the people who are buying them.   From 19actionnews.com: The Cleveland Police Department's eighth annual buyback seemed successful, taking in 270 weapons during the event, including seven shotguns, 10 rifles and 253 handguns. Some of the guns were much more valuable than the $100 gift card given for handguns, or the $200 gift card given for semi-automatic long guns.   Some of the guns, such as the older...

  • CA SB808 Need Help from Fellow Gun Owners Here

I have been going across forums associated with gun owners in CA (i.e. Calgunst.net) with other fellow members seeking support from the firearms community in regard to a situation we have in CA. Recently, the overzealous anti-gun DeLeon had put together a bill called SB808, which requires us to register any home-built firearms and 80% receivers as firearms regardless if they are complete or not. This includes applying for serial numbers from the ATF. It's currently not a federal requirement to register a non-serialized firearm built from an 80% receiver. California is seeking to not only require any and all...
  • Seven Months Later, Orange County Concealed Carry Permits Have Doubled

Last February, the Ninth Circuit Court Of Appeals, which has jurisdiction over most of the Western United States, ruled that California’s concealed carry law was unconstitutional. The provision in the law stating that one must give “good cause” for a concealed carry permit was deemed too burdensome–and they’re right! After the ruling, Orange County saw a spike in concealed carry permits. It got to the point where the county had to spend an additional $1.6 million–and hire 14 part-time staffers–to process all the applications.

In a regular Monday ritual, Chicago Police display the numerous illegal guns they have most recently taken off the street, and there is always a dismayingly large cache. So, yes, cops are getting illegal guns off the street. But the river of new illegal guns replacing those recovered by police is so huge that Police Supt. Garry McCarthy has likened police efforts to drinking from a fire hose. Last year, police recovered more than 7,000 illegal firearms, but plenty more remained on the streets to be used in new crimes. On Saturday, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence set...

I recently posted about taking Joe hunting, and how he is now capable of hunting on his own.   Joe is on the right, Jason is on the left.  Last year, Jason expressed an interest in hunting, but we were not able to make it happen.   This year, I was able to take Jason on his first hunt. I arrived to pick up the young hunters.   A mistake had been made in setting the alarm clock, so no one was up, and I was knocking on the door at 5:15 a.m.   They got up shortly, and we were able to...

I am working on an article where I need age distribution of Black males in Wisconsin. I need the number of Black males in Wisconsin 15-35 years old in 2010. 2010 is a census year, so you would think it would be easy to find, but I have not found it so far. I have found a reference for the national figures in wikipedia, but not for the state figures. Any help would be appreciated. I would also like the numbers for Hispanics of the same age and sex in 2010 in Wisconsin. I have estimates based on percent of...
