Raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour would benefit 927,400 city workers and pump $6.5 billion into the city's economy, according to state Labor Department report released Wednesday. The capital of New York State has joined other cities in restricting the ability for gun owners to store them in their own home. A law has come into effect passed by the City Council requiring all guns to be locked in safes or using a gun lock at home. The city has agreed to more stringent regulations on anti-terror cops in ­order to settle two federal lawsuits that claimed the NYPD violated constitutional rights by spying on Muslims. The city will pay $2,033,416 in legal fees to the plaintiffs, but no monetary damages, and will add another layer of review to a committee that monitors its intelligence gathering.
