A story by CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski and Nathan McDermott published on Thursday features a video showing former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore suggesting the September 11, 2001 terror attacks may have taken place because the country had distanced itself from God. Moore, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, made the remarks at the Open Door Baptist Church in Enterprise, AL in February. He read from Isaiah 30:12-13 and made the connection.

Update 7:38p.m.: Now the Moore campaign is walking back its previous statement. They have agreed to a debate with Strange sans moderator. A Moore campaign spokeswoman said the details haven't been worked out yet......... Original story: Senator Luther Strange campaign has agreed to hold a debate with challenger Roy Moore without a moderator, although the incumbent senator slammed his opponent for having "ridiculous demands."...... Earlier Wednesday, Moore said he would only have a debate with Strange styled...

This is a typical “Tea Party” story you might have heard from 2010, and indicative of the GOP’s failed attempts to kill the Trump movement. Roy Moore appears set to steamroll Mitch McConnell-backed Luther Strange. The GOP has been pouring money into Alabama to try to defeat Moore, but it looks like a huge waste of cash:

With a Republican commander-in-chief in the White House, both houses of Congress in Republican hands, and a majority of the U.S. Supreme Court appointed by Republican presidents, it shouldn’t be terribly surprising that Democrats and progressives would be unhappy with Washington, D.C. What might be surprising is how unhappy rank-and-file Republicans and conservatives are with Washington, D.C. Voter surveys have found the GOP-controlled Congress to be more popular among self-described Democrats than self-described Republicans. Contemplate that perverse fact for a moment. Not that regular folks of either the R or D persuasion approve of the Congress, mind you, whether managed...

The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3. Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. • Luther Strange Is in Trouble

The best day of Sen. Luther Strange’s election campaign was Aug. 8, the day President Donald Trump tweeted that he had “done a great job representing the people of the Great State of Alabama” since being appointed to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions and giving his “complete and total endorsement!” At that time, Strange was running neck-and-neck with fiery social conservative Judge Roy Moore in the polls, and it seemed possible that Trump’s endorsement would push him over the top in the race to Jeff Sessions’ seat. Since then, however, it’s been a perfect storm of bad news for the...

The Mountain Brook man who has made national headlines over the years for filing several federal lawsuits regarding his desire to marry his computer said he is on a mission to preserve the "integrity of the Constitution." Mark "Chris" Sevier filed a lawsuit in Alabama's Northern District last month stating his rights, along with several "ex-gay" co-plaintiffs, were violated by Gov. Kay Ivey, Attorney General Steve Marshall, and Blount County Probate Judge Chris Green because Sevier's marriage to an Apple computer-- which he claimed to marry in New Mexico-- was not recognized in Blount County. In the filing, Sevier claimed...

The special Alabama Senate primary is at once the most exciting and the most boring spectacle in politics. Depending on who's keeping score, the contest between Judge Roy Moore and incumbent Sen. Luther Strange will be either blowout or barnburner, slaughter or slugfest. New polling from Montgomery-based Southeast Research suggests the latter. With 19 days before Election Day, according to the poll, Strange is trailing Moore by 16 points: 52 to 36 percent.

As Luther Strange continues to fail to gain any traction on the campaign trail in his home state of Alabama in the final weeks before the GOP primary runoff, he picked up about the worst endorsement one can get in the Yellowhammer State on Wednesday. The globalist, open borders U.S. Chamber of Commerce threw its weight behind Strange’s flailing campaign with less than three weeks to go until the Sept. 26 runoff, as the GOP frontrunner conservative former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore maintains and extends his commanding lead.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the influential House Freedom Caucus, on Wednesday endorsed Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate race, spurning the incumbent backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and President Trump.  Meadow's decision to back Moore over Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) gives the insurgent candidate one of his biggest endorsements yet ahead of the Sept. 26 GOP primary runoff. In a statement announcing his decision, Meadows took a swipe at McConnell and his allied super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, which has spent millions on the airwaves to boost Strange. "The people of Alabama are seeing millions...

Tuesday the Senate Conservatives Fund announced it is supporting former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in Alabama’s U.S. Senate special election Republican primary runoff on September 26. SCF President Ken Cuccinelli made the announcement in an open letter, noting the supporters in Alabama and nationwide supported Moore over Strange by an “overwhelming” 97 percent. “I’m proud to announce the Senate Conservatives Fund’s endorsement of Judge Roy Moore in Alabama’s special election for U.S. Senate,” Cuccinelli wrote. “After collecting feedback from our supporters in Alabama and across the nation last week, an overwhelming 97% said they thought we should...

Judge Roy Moore is the clear conservative frontrunner for the U.S. Senate GOP primary runoff on September 26, dwarfing the GOP establishment-backed Sen. Luther Strange by more than double digits in a new poll. Moore towers over Strange with a solid majority of the electorate and a 16-point lead. Moore’s 52 percent, per the new poll, dwarfs Strange’s 36 percent in the poll conducted by firm Southeast Research from August 29 to August 31 in Alabama. The poll surveyed 401 likely voters in the runoff and has a margin of error of five percent.

The rising political star of Judge Roy Moore in Alabama is another surprise in a political season defined by the unexpected and the unconventional. On Aug. 15, Moore finished ahead of Senator Luther Strange in a primary election to pick the Republican candidate who will run in November's general election to fill the seat of former Senator Jeff Sessions. Sessions vacated the seat to become the nation's attorney general. Strange, who was Alabama's attorney general, was appointed by then-Governor Robert Bentley to temporarily fill Sessions' seat. Despite Strange being endorsed by President Trump, and perceived as the Republican Party favorite,...

Monday in an op-ed posted on his website, former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) endorsed former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in the U.S. Senate special election GOP primary runoff set for September 26 in the Yellowhammer State. Moore faces Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL), who was appointed earlier this year by-then Gov. Robert Bentley (R-AL). That was not something that went unnoticed by Huckabee. “I have good friends in Alabama whose support is split between Senator Luther Strange, who was ‘strangely’ appointed to the post by disgraced Governor Robert Bentley who made the appointment just as he was shown...

Outsider Roy Moore, who is favored to knock off Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) in this month's Republican primary runoff, suggested Friday that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) should be replaced as majority leader. In an interview with LifeZette, Moore objected both to McConnell's lack of results in passing President Donald Trump's agenda and his attempts to prop up Strange. "I wouldn't necessarily think he would be a majority leader I would support," he said. "But, you know, I can work anybody. I'm not a person who doesn't forgive. But, you know, you don't get over these things easily."
